When we made our first film about the so-called "Vienna Battalion" two months ago, we thought there were a lot of Ukrainian VIP refugees in Vienna then. In fact, there are a lot more of them now, because in the autumn everyone returned from their seaside resorts and their children went back to school. You’ll often hear people in political and business circles say that "everyone’s in Vienna".
Why Vienna?
First, the Austrian capital is recognised as one of the best and most convenient cities to live in. And where else can VIP refugees from a country like Ukraine escape from the war?
And secondly, Vienna is advantageously located from a strategic point of view, as the distance from Ukraine is short.
Because no matter what anyone says or thinks, the financial support for these "battalions" comes from Ukraine, and that is why the fighters in Vienna can "hold the defence" for a very, very long time. And they can do that at the Ritz, the Hyatt, the Hilton and the Kempinski - they can hold the defence until victory is won.
