He is living proof that rap isn't a monolithic genre.

I've been listening to Tyler since 2011. As someone who's always been the "weird" black kid, Tyler and Odd Future definitely made me feel less alone and learn not to worry about what other people thought. Love seeing his musical progression and how much he's matured over the years.

10:41 Thats exactly how I always felt about Goblin. People see it on a surface level and think its just an edgy, immature album but never take the time to listen deeper in the lyrics and the tone of it. Goblin was a work of art, a good theme and had a lot of heart into it. Two of the songs (Transylvania and BSD mainly) could be written off as just ironic songs that sound “edgy” but even then those songs are a work of art and skill of rap for someone who was only 19-20 years old. You could never really call any album of his “bad”. All of the albums explore different themes. You could say Bastard and Goblin are similar, but not that much.

Tyler is the GOAT, I love how confident and deliberate he is about what he brings to the table.

Tyler has to be one of the most improved artists that I’ve seen in any genre. His progression from album to album is stunning.

I remember when I was a kid from 6-8th grade I use to be so heavy on odd future years later it’s crazy to see how everything has changed ig that’s the beauty in it. Tyler is unique fr. Shoutout to the all the dudes that were apart of odd future hope they doing good.

I had always liked Tyler ever since his odd future days, but after seeing him live this year at lollapalooza I have found an even greater appreciation for him and his music. He puts on amazing live shows and really makes sure to give the audience an experience. He’s quite simply amazing.

As someone who grew up in an age where DJs yelling their producer tags on top of the song was normalized, I love that DJ drama not only yelled his name over the song that he produced, but he also engaged in and contributed to the songs in Tyler‘s album that he produced. By adding his own name to it, it added to the pizzazz of this song.

Tyler is just a creative genius, I like that he speaks on knowing himself because he understands himself and where he can take his own music. I love his music and can say very honestly I did not see CMIYGL coming. It was an amazing album with a lot of interesting aspects that for me came out of left field because it was 100% the type of thing Tyler would do but not where I thought he’d go next after IGOR

He almost approaches everything in a kind of scientific way, like he can break down each thought or concept he has into all of the individual parts that built that thought. If that makes sense? Like, he was able to guide me to each point he was trying to make by building it from the ground up. But he does it in such an accessible way that it doesn't get complicated by the details and it doesn't drag on. It's an extremely effective way of communicating and expressing oneself and I find it incredibly interesting!

I’ve seen this interview a time or 2, and it finally hit me as to why I always vibed with Tyler so much Not just musically but also just him as an individual (was cause he’s true to all the things that he geeks out over and actually CARES and believes in the things he speaks of! (I’d like to think like me) Although I’m 10 years older… I originally just thought it was cause of not only him being a true lover of all music as well as hip hop, Skateboarding, his sense of humor, and the way he is always himself. If there’s one thing I’ve learned at my age it’s that if you’re always true to yourself you’ll always be in style. His absolute love and desire and to not just limit himself to what others say is “cool” but to Persue the things that truly interest him instead of just going with the flow you can tell he actually loves the things he does and not just being a tourist or jump on trends (for all his haters, he’s always going to be relevant cause he’s doing and speaking on what he actually loves) Thanks for inspiring and showing future generations of kids to be different and embrace their inner nerd! Much love ❤ BTW… speaking on watches I see him wearing Swatch watches…I remember them from when I was younger in the early 90s being so cool, but never owned one. Mannn I’ve love T since that first chord on Wolf. My reference point was my jazz training. I grew up on Charlie Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, bossa nova, John Barry then the Neptunes when I got older, etc…so it’s SO SO brilliant hearing those influences in what he makes and to hear it accompanying his flow gives me life! I’m a big music head and never liked rap UNTIL I got into Wolf then cherry bomb, it opened me up to loving ALOT of new school hip hop and (even though he’ll never know/see this) I personally thanked him by adding I’m as one of my all time favorites (Stevie wonder, Kate Bush, Prince, David Bowie, Tyler). But the SFFB, Igor and now CMIYGL just whew- no words. I see on Twitter alot of kids wanting to get into bossa nova so I see they’ll be referring Tyler as their reference points and it’s a beautiful cycle! -SN: his voice is like thicc chocolate (oat) milk he seriously needs to do audiobooks.

He's already figured out exactly how he wants to live his life, and since Flower Boy he's looked more comfortable with himself than ever. Tyler has been in the zone for like a decade, and he's STILL getting better. I can't wait to see where his career goes.
