@OURO8ORUO It is a terrible and sad history, but nothing compared to what happened afterwards, but it is understandable, after all, China is a country of 1,400,000,000 people and maintaining stability is of paramount importance, and something has to be sacrificed to maintain stability

While the video is good and indeed as the title stated, an over simplified version. It left out way too many context history and extremely famous peoples that you might heard of so imo it kind of does more bad than good as far as teaching you about the three kingdoms era.

After Dong Zhuo was killed, his two top generals Li Jue and Guo Si tried to take over Chang An. Cao Cao would save the emperor in the end and take him back to Xu Chang with him. The emperor saw in later years that he was being used when Cao Cao snatched his bow and arrow from him and killed a deer. Since it was the emperors bow the attendants said "Long live the emperor." When Liu Bei saw that he decided to become Cao Cao's enemy and joined the emperor's alliance against Cao Cao.

From then, ancient China was in a disordered and chaos state. The governments were in short lives generally, one after one, and Han was invaded and conquered by foreign peoples from the north area. That time was extremely dark and dying of the light. Around 300 years later, Ancient China was united and highly centralized again, and that was Tang, the most powerful and influential dynasty in the history of China. To make an analogy, Tang was as dominating as the Great British in 19th century. Moreover, Tang was so eclectic that the emperor appointed many foreigners as members in the empire's bureaucratic system, and that created the shine of the greatness of ancient Chinese culture, much much brighter than now, maybe ever.

Lu Bu was considered a man's man... Fearless warrior and could ride into a group of enemies and take opposite general's head. Only problem with him was, if he was captured, he'll just call the other guy step father and stay alive.

There are 5,000 years of Chinese historical stories, but the Three Kingdoms period is the most exciting period of history. Many things are not mentioned here in general, such as Cao Cao, Guan Yu, Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Sima Yi, Zhou Yu, Lu Bu, Xun Yu, Yuan Shao, Lu Xun. Behind these names are a bit of a legendary story comparable to Napoleon, and this group of people gathered in the era of the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Moving the main chapters, a novel that 80% is true history has indeed become the most classic novel in China.

I've read 三國演義 in the original and watched some Chinese series of the book, but never quite understood all the tos-and-fros. Very nice presentation. I agree with Linus Kwang that Zhu-ge Liang should have been given some prominence.

Having read the whole set of 60 books on Three Kingdoms histories, I have to say this video, despite missing so much things, did a wonderful job in putting them and sumarising altogether.

Fun Fact: The most famous 3 Kingdom story (which wasn't mentioned in this video) where they use Straw Ships to bait Cao Cao to shoot arrows and collect them was made up by the Three Kingdom show.

Yes, it was a fictional story, where before the battle of Red Cliffs Liu Bei's second in command Zhu GeLiang baited CaoCao to shoot arrows and so he got arrows It's entirely fictional pls don't take it seriously

I felt that lol. I remember the days when I was one of the reporters in class about this. Actually what I reported was like summarized since I was like 12 years old, and I didn't know this was that many wtf. My classmates were really bored, I can imagine myself reporting each kingdoms while everyone is asleep. Lol and it's not easy to explain since even I am having a brain crisis that time.

Just a side note: Lu Bu's name should be Lü Bu to be accurate, where the 'ü' isn't pronounced the same as the 'u'. Unfortunately such pronunciation doesn't exist in English, but you can find it in French and German, such as the 'u' in 'salut' (French) or the 'ü' in 'tschüß' (German). If you really want it in English, I would say that it does sound very similar to an old fashioned British way of pronouncing the 'oo' sound in the word 'choose'.

ETA If anyone wonders why, with other out-of-chaos-comes-unity dynasties, such as West Han under Liu Bang, North Song under Zhao Kuangying, or Ming under Zhu Yuanzhang, those emperors either come from humble roots and climbed to the top with their leadership skills, or they started with a power level (Zhao Kuangying was a big general in Later Zhou dynasty, and he eventually amassed enough power to force the emperor and the empress dowager to abdicate for him) but it still takes cunning and humility to plan and exercise. The Sima clan on the other hand, are dirty schemers who got lucky by the time Sima Yan becomes emperor of all China. Now Sima Yan has conquered all of China, they think there’s nothing more to do, so lets get to those nonstop Porsche Parties already.

I am Chinese. I am very happy to see that the history of the Three Kingdoms can be understood by foreigners, but there are many mistakes. Just point out one. After Liu Biao died, Liu Bei only controlled Jiangxia County, and most of Jingzhou was controlled by Cao Cao. Part of Jingzhou is wrong, it was captured by Liu Bei after the Battle of Chibi

Gao Zu is a title roughly meaning High Founder, 'cause he was the founder of the Han dynasty. His real name was Liu Bang. I don't think he was called Huang Di (meaning Emporer) at all, actually. I think he was just called Gao Zu Liu Bang, since Huang Di Gao Zu basically meant Emporer Emporer. Otherwise, your video is a really great summary of the Three Dynasties.
