My favorite thing by far about this channel is the unity and warmth these folks show for each other. Who wouldn't want to be part of a group like that? Also the can-do attitude is a reminder to just do it.

Thank you for your service Trevor. My dad was a mechanic in the Army over in Korea during the war, Corps of Engineers. Worked on everything from trucks, dozers, Jeeps, cranes, etc. He brought a lot of knowledge home also to the work on our trucks and tractors on the homestead. I can definitely see that knowledge in Trevor. Lots of good hard working people in your entire team Matt.

Not an expert but tracks look too tight, you got to give them some room to flex, so transmission can move smoothly, when tracks are too tight even if they wouldn´t get jammed, it could still take a toll on the transmission

With some of our skid-steer loaders (bobcats), we filled the inner tubes completely, after fitting them in the tyres and mounting them on the rims, with a "silastic" type substance, and allowed the necessary time for it to fully set, then you were able to drive a piece of one inch reinforcement bar through the entire tyre, in from one side and out the other, without the tyre going down (flat) We did work in a scrap metal yard where you would otherwise have a constant problem with sharp bits of steel going into the tyres. Maybe this would stop your tyres going flat and thus causing the problem that you have encountered. After finally wearing the tyre down, we would cut the tyre off with a saw and start again with a new tyre and tube. This way we were always able the use the tyre for it's entire life.

As always, I am continually impressed at the patience of the team and the wholesome content that this channel provides. Every morning at 7:15 my 23 month old rushes me yelling jeep, Jeep, Jeep. To see if there is a new episode for the day. Thank you so much but I never have to worry about language or inappropriate content even when the situation is incredibly stressful and I would have definitely lost my temper. Bless y’all.

There was that time I think Jefe and Eric maybe went out to drag a pick up truck and wrangler out of the river while Matt was on vacation, and they completely mess up the job, to the point where Matt had to come out and help them. He was pissed lol but he did apologize by the end of the video.

Hey Matt and crew I know cutting that stock spindle off and welding the trailer spindle on was an emergency repair but I wanted to point out that the stock spindle looks like a 2,000 pound capacity trailer spindle. You may be able to directly swap trailer hubs onto the other ones in the future rather than modifying them all. The hub you used is for a 3500 pound axle. It has a L44649 outer bearing which has a 1.063” inner diameter. Check the stock spindles to see what size they are. If they are 1” exact you can use L44643 bearing they are 1.00” ID. I am only 2:43 into the video so maybe you get into this more an I haven’t seen lol. Also that arm you’re welding the spindle to looks like a UFP torsion spindle arm so you might be able to get another one if you don’t have a source for it already. It also kinda looks like it could be a tie down engineering part too. All trailer stuff. I’m gonna finish the video. Good luck fellas. I hope you see this and it’s useful

@steven steiner I was thinking the same thing, particularly as I saw the rounded over pieces on the original track. I was thinking at some point to maybe put together a hydraulic jig that can bend/press the metal you need. Might be overkill, but if this is something that happens in the future, might be a way to get it turned around quickly. I have to say, I loved the teamwork of everyone! I liked that it was unpolished. This is the hidden stuff going on day to day, and I appreciated seeing a glimpse. I think the shot of everyone just tired, sitting on couches, eating was what said it all... a family.
ke6gwf - Ben Blackburn
@JP Conkwright my thoughts exactly. Within reason you can usually find the right cone to match the spindle diameter, and then the right cup for the hub, which is why they are sold separately. Basically they make the bearing itself in one size, and then a range of inner and outer dimensions within the series, just making the metal thicker or thinner.

It occurs to me that you'd be wise to drill out the backside of that stub-axle block (that wasn't welded to the frame) with a large diameter bit, and then you can get a weld on a much greater area of the stub-axle. Right now, all you've got is the perimeter welded!

8:40 is the closest I've seen to despair on Matt's face. It's obviously much more serious than he's letting on... Great PostScript, "They talk about the good old days, but they leave out this part" You can see how loved and respected Matt is by this team working late into the night.... And home-cooked dinner, you, lady, are a champion! I can't wait to see the rescue.

Matt, you are a fortunate guy. You must really take care of that crew of yours. It is a rare thing to have people who, in the rest of the world, are considered "employees" pull together so completely when you need them. I was around a lot of tow services in my profession and I know of one other company that was like yours. It is great to see how much of a family you have all become, how committed you all are to getting the task accomplished. A boss who comes right out and says , he, this is my life, and we are this fix is because I dropped the ball, but my people are here, too, backing me up...that is special. You have to have the right people...and you do.

Great work fellas. I remember tons of "catastrophic events" with our vehicles in both the desert and in south Korea. But we adapt, improvise and over come.😎🇺🇲

Matt's procrastination on servicing the SnowCat led to much greater damage and more hard work. Great team of people to work so hard so late and get her running again! Great video as always. Can't wait to see the 'epic' recovery of the next day!

Matt's forecast "If We Just Wait For A Catastrophic Failure Up In The Mountains" came terrifyingly true.

I'm always impressed by the smiles all around, despite every day, of course! being a long day! And various unexpected obstacles.

I come from a large family and Jamie's face at the end, while everyone was eating, made me realize, I need to call my Mom and thank her...cause that face...I felt that face.

Thats a great crew you've got there to volunteer to stay way late to make it happen without even being asked. But that typically comes from having a great boss. Like you said, you're worried about their time. That's key 👍

As a high voltage electrician I can relate when Matt says it's 6pm and we still have the other track to do. Sometimes you just want to be done but due to the job just need to push through. Kudos to everyone hanging in there till completion.

Very cool repair on the snowcat. You all did a fantastic job of getting it ready for this epic recovery trip you mentioned. I'm sure you're very proud of your team and yourself for the efforts to make this happen. Really looking forward to that video. See you soon
