Catching white bass on a sand bar was funny stuff too Same exact strength line , on two rods and reels and one gets it more than others. And this is all over the place ! It almost has to be the action of the rod. Maybe even an angle of some sort

We were fishing a lake 4 people in the boat. The teenage girl used one of my rods, I baited the hook, I casted for her. She handed me the rod thinking it was snagged and I got the fish to move and gave it back( biggest fish of the day) everyone in the boat limited on lake trout except me. I got one bite and hooked a sturgeon that I lost. No reason I could think of for me to get skunked but I did. It happens sometimes.
