It took me a minute to realize that the first person he called is a version of himself who fell for the prank, so basically they are caught in an endless loop of him warning himself in the future who thinks it's a prank who pranks the next him into thinking it's real. That is amazing.
The messages were different. So it wasn't just time travel, he was communicating with parallel dimensions, branches to a core timeline. Each version of himself is unclear and so each other version dies. The only way they will survive is if a version of him takes the message seriously and solves the issues before the explosion. This entire sketch is an allegory for addiction and the cycle of bad habits. If you don't break the cycle of bad habits or choices, you're doomed to repeat the events tomorrow. So each "version of you" will get the message to do better, to stop the bad habits, and each time you'll "keep it going" only to suffer the same mistakes.
It's crazy how many different actors Caleb manages to get on, even his future self is played by another person and he did such a good impression of Caleb
Caleb should really do a skit about a character with a no killing rule, knowing him he could make that concept so deep, and funny without skipping a beat
There were actually 2 timelines. The time viewer was a timed bomb. Timeline A where Caleb hosts the device and Timeline B where Caleb receives 2 calls from Timeline A in the past and future (that's why he said "it's me again").
Absolutely Genius, I see now, it was all connected. The Caleb at the beginning of the video (Caleb prime) Called the Secondary Caleb, or Caleb beta and received a warning that their experiment would lead to destruction. Not being able to cope with the idea of imminent colossal failure Prime rationalizes it as a joke which he tells to Beta when the call comes in. Beta getting a much more violent and abrupt warning instantly disconnects where he takes the time to investigate what's wrong with the device and learns about how unstable it is and the mass destruction it will cause. While attempting to transport the device that is moments away from going critical, the Caleb at the beginning of the video (Caleb prime) Called the Secondary Caleb, or Caleb beta and received a warning that their experiment would lead to destruction. Neither prankster Caleb nor gullible Caleb have any actual reason to believe the device is gonna explode aside from them telling eachother. This means there are either more Caleb's stuck in the loop who figured out for themselves that the device explodes... or the device exploding is pure coincidence, which is my preferred theory because it's hilarious.
I cannot understand how high quality of a concept this is. There's two timelines, one that received a slow burn message of the fact that the device will explode and the other that would receive a extremely short and extremely loud message that the device would explode. This is just too good
