Em actually acknowledges this in his song "No Regrets" "I can make a mistake and erupt and end up takin' a dump. Or sayin' some dumb shit, thinkin' I run shit Misplacin' my anger enough to give Earl and Tyler, The Creator the brunt" Where he basically says that he was so pissed off at a lot of people talking shit at the time that he thought Tyler and Earl Sweatshirt's comments were also with the intent to diss him, but then he realizes than that wasn't the case.

@Spiridon Robert that’s only how Eminem viewed it Anyone other than Eminem and his Stans saw what Tyler said as CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM And on the flip side of those comments. Tyler will big up Eminem at almost any time he comes up in discussion. The dude LOVES Eminem. He just ain’t walking around eggshells with the man

@ANTI aka Kalamite nah not only how em viewed,is not constructive criticism when you just call things trash dude😂 like tyler did with shady xv or walk on water cause those we re literally the reasons why em picked up on tyler and ik tyler loves em but still that s just hate at that point when you get on twitter and say,,oh that shit is trash,,constructive criticism is when you explain why you don t like it explain what he should be better so please don t be ingorant cause it s still not cool when you hang with somebody then thast guy hops on twitter and say your things are trash same with revival that shit mostly got slander not constructive criticism also let s not even talk about how people starte saying ,,but we miss the old em or his rage,,then dropped kamikaze like what people been asking from him and then they started saying ,,why em is always angry,,that s HYPOCRISY

@Spiridon Robert and he did in an interview. Tyler doesn’t detail things in tweets or social media posts So he said those comments and then radios wanted to ask him in-depth what he meant But a real homie will tell you straight up if shit is trash or not. That’s what I got out of Tyler’s comments And again, this isn’t the first time nor the last time Em will get comments he finds negative And I find it mad sensitive that he’s this way despite going through LITERAL riots against his shit by the LGBT movement

"Who took home the W?" This is what's wrong with a LOT of things today. NOBODY took a "W" or an "L" in this because it wasn't a competition. They're two adults. Two successful artists. They had an argument and then solved it. Not every situation in life is about winning or losing.

I really don't think Tyler was "two-faced" at all, just because you see someone as an idol, doesn't mean you have to like every single they do, I think out of his love for Eminem he made those tweets and I really don't see it as two-faced to dislike an album, he doesn't have to worship every album just because he idolises Em

I know for most of my life, I would immediately get defensive when receiving criticism and it wasnt until my mid 30s (I'm 42 now) that I learned to receive criticism with as much grace as I would receive praise. It was one of the most difficult character flaws I've ever learned to overcome and I think that's because I had to be completely honest with myself and unlearn reactionary behavior that was deeply rooted in me from a young age. Once I got there, I realized that the insight gained from criticism is just as valuable as insight gained from praise. Once you apply that correction to the specific aspect being scrutinized, it will result in positive growth. I think Tyler is such a big fan of Em and has so much respect for him that he didn't want to do him the disservice of giving him biased, dishonest feedback. For me personally, I respect honesty and uncompromising integrity in someone's feedback or crtique; it's genuinely helpful and impactful for someone who strives toward positive growth. Now, for someone like Eminem, I can only imagine that struggle, to learn and grow, amplified by 1000%. The fact that he realized his mistake and acknowledged it is impressive and extremely uncommon for someone at the top of their profession. Much respect for both Tyler the Creator and the G.O.A.T. Eminem.

I have always loved Eminem's music, regardless of all drama about bad albums and whatever, he has definitely been a source of inspiration for the music that I create, I have enough self restraint to make the choice that the world doesn't need negative music and I don't want to give the impression that I'm a bad person for the dark subject matter in some of my tracks but I need to say that if it wasn't for Eminem's music that I wouldn't have been able to express what goes on in my head, but those tracks I keep private and I don't share them with the world, for example, I don't post them on soundcloud or any sort of social media, whether that's youtube, or any other outlets like that, just because I don't want to give a bad example of who I am or what I believe in.

I think Tyler the creator clearly had a strong impact on Em and that Em respected him. So when Tyler did this yeah it hurt but I think sometimes seeing past the hurt and looking back at it, I personally think Em would thank him for pushing him to do better because it worked. Em definitely should have apologized for that slur he knows it wasn't even a good or legit comeback and he was trying. Can't hate on Tyler for speaking the truth.

i loved walk on water, it showed how human eminem was, honestly i think it was fans being salty that he sobered up, became way more complicated and technical with lyrics, to where he started seeming inhuman and the fans lost relatability, he changed from being a hood rat to a chilled out mellow man, dude just grown up while his fnbase didnt due to their atmosphere, and life comlications, it hurt his fans, they couldnt relate to who he became, and became salty, but i appreciated his change as if he didnt, he would of literally died, its a blessing he is still here making music, people need to learn to appreciate what we still have rather then dwell on the past, my favorite album is honestly relapse as its the last time we got wild crazy gangster slim shady, but i still love his new stuff as his skill is unbelievable , he makes great music now and back them, people just get too attached to one thing and wont let it go, feeling like the newer is an imposter trying to replace what they hold dear. , mad respect to both forms as both were masterpieces whether old fans want to accept it or not,

You are probably 100% correct. That's kinda the vibe I've gotten from people who don't like his newer stuff; they just want more of the same and aren't willing to expand their musical interest. When I go back and listen to his older stuff and compare it to his newer stuff, it's blatantly obvious that Eminem has grown as an artist and shows increased technical skill, wisdom, and intellectual nuance. When you're, not only the best at what you do, but appear to be superhuman at times, people will try to find flaws that may or may not exist; either out of jealousy or inability to comprehend. The intellectually challenged human beings of the world, unfortunately make up the majority of human beings of the world.

I liked some of the songs on Revival because they were human as fuck. It's easier to appreciate the artistry in a project without the bias goggles of being a long-time super-fan used to one style. Anyone who hated Walk on Water either isn't an artist and can't relate ipso facto isn't the target audience for it, or is an artist but a narsisistic one. In a profession, any artistic profession, audible or visual, if you don't believe you're the best you'll never be the best. If you don't understand the pressure that comes with, famous or not, then you don't need to be knocking that track. That track hit me HARD. I'm a visual artist by profession and I feel that impostor syndrome and blank-canvas syndrome and self-hatred every single day that I don't kill it with a new life-altering piece.

I think its all fair game for both sides. Two men speaking their mind and being vocal about their feelings. It's okay. Sometimes people get hurt. Sometimes we say things we don't mean, sometimes we say things we mean and regret them later. It's just part of life. I do feel like both Em and Tyler have love for each other at the end of the day though. Wouldn't be surprised if they collab at some point one day.

They both are really talented artists but there audiences that they attract in my opinion are vastly different at that time Tyler’s image much more colorful and vibrant from merch to scenes in videos and album cover designs etc, if you ask me I think they both took Ws in the end due to conversations being sparked even if negativity fuels those talks, The Responses given from either gives the media coverage regardless which In turn with good music later helps boost image and then album sales and more Growth also since they are so different it’s makes you think now they could be learning from each other.

Bro let's face it, Em comes from a time where that was normal. He doesn't regret shit, he's just saving face because he angered an entire group of people. He probably could not give 2 shits about Tyler. Also, this problem where musicians who make anger-driven music lose their touch is pretty common in metal. Slipknot and Korn are prime examples. It's hard to stay angry when you are living your dream and making millions in the process, and that unfortunately translates into their music.

Tyler wasn’t two-faced by not liking his stuff. Just because you’re friends with someone doesn’t mean you have to like everything they make and doesn’t mean you can’t say something about it. It’s moronic to pose the question “does this guy deserve to be called a slur for not liking a song?” Of course he doesn’t deserve it it’s a song, you’re not required to like songs, and the songs he disliked were widely disliked, so it’s not any kind of betrayal.

ANTI aka Kalamite 4 aylar önce
@Yousaf Shady I’m saying none of that was ‘well deserved’ Tyler gave his critique like a good friend would Furthermore, he said it on an open platform. Cuz like Jay Z. It’s hard to contact the main man. So he put it where it would easily be seen by Eminem. And figured since Em has that idgaf attitude. He would draw from the comment what Tyler meant and not take offence to it Eminem then TOOK OFFENCE to it and dissed him up and down on a song Again, being MAD SENSITIVE. Which is fine as long as you accept it. It takes a real man to accept what he is despite what he portrays Eminem backtracked and then gave a sob story about ‘friends backstabbing him’ when that wasn’t the case at all Ergo, tryna garner sympathy for him basically throwing a temper tantrum on beat Again, had he simply accepted it like shit maybe I jumped the gun, it would’ve all been fine It’s like if I bitch slapped you then when we meet the next day. I act like that wasn’t the case. I’m sorry but that’s some beta male shit. Or at the very least, some mad sensitive shit And seeing as how Eminem had LGBT riots against him in the past. This should feel like nothing Especially coming from Tyler. Someone who was so inspired by Em but didn’t jack his style. Rather he let Eminem influence him to create his own style of Hip Hop within the genre and culture Remember, just like Eminem, Tyler wasn’t accepted in Hip Hop or the media He’s someone who would understand Eminem’s position more than anyone

@Alexis Santos well ENINEM hasn’t been too private about his opinions either as much as I love him other people just as much as him have the right to have their own opinions and post them online (legal opinions ofc nothing threatening something or someone) em should’ve reached out to Tyler we gotta remember when you put music out everyone’s opinion will be out and he should’ve asked about it a little Tyler wasn’t trying to be condescending just a bit critical of it the whole thing could’ve easily been avoided culture is changing and people are softening up but em knows it isn’t 2002 and he can’t be saying that shit unless he wants gen z on his back tryna cancel him I love him so much but trust me gen z is super petty and soft they’ll find a way to cancel him I’m not even sure how they haven’t even done so yet 😂 but the whole feud wasn’t much just could’ve been mature about it

Bro, I dont understand how people can take a work of art and bash some shit that a man put so much of himself into. Mfers just dont like to hear the truth or be made to think when they dont wanna. Revival was one of the most artistic albums he put out. I feel like most hip hop heads can appreciate it. Look back at it it a decade. Or actually listen to it with an open mind. People get into boxes and get comfortable . When someone opens the lid they freak out. I loved revival.
Spiridon Robert
Spiridon Robert 3 aylar önce
exactly revival is not em best work just inconsistent it has some good songs but people hated just cause it was political and not the rage em has:)))and hahahaha that s exactly what happened to relapse when it came out it was hated now it is considered an underground classic

If there is no criticism there will be no evolution in music , I get that some people just blindly follow the popular opinion about these albums but if someone genuinely thinks that the songs are bad they should have the right to express their opinion no matter how ambitious the project is.

If Tyler really respected Em as a friend, he would have just told him in privately when they hung out. Not make a huge announcement to the world. He had to have known Em was going to say something eventually. Isn’t that one of the reasons why Em was on of Tyler’s Idols? Because Em wouldn’t hold back towards shit? Em is only at fault in a lot of peoples eye’s because the times are different. If we went back 20 years ago and Em said some of the shit he was saying now, people would eat it up. I’m not on anyone’s side, but I feel like saying that should be a no brainer…. 😟

Em didn't take it "too far" but he did not understand the situation. I mean Em taking it too far could be the Michael Jackson situation and that's why MJ purchased Em's catalog lol. I think Em just doesn't understand how social media works and is too industry. In the industry people want you to sing nothing but praise. Tyler can be your friend but still critique you out of love to his audience. Em could've called him and had a conversation about why, but he chose not to because he was in his feelings. Tyler is the friend everyone needs that will be honest with you when you're not doing your best.

Em was my go to MC when I was a teenager. Like 24/7 Em & D12 albums on repeat. Then I guess growing older you start to realize that he's the god of techniques but his content is mid. Even when he tries the social political stuff, it never hits you like a Kendrick or J Cole track would. I still enjoy a good bar by bar breakdown of any new song Marshall drops, but that's all I listen to... Just one time for the "wow" and then move on to anything else 🤷🏻‍♂️😔 I don't think Em needs to do it differently. I think his fan base just grew older and might not be too much into his style no more. And teenagers these days are not into Eminem at all 😥

Well, Eminem never apologised for nothing to noone. What he said in that interview with Sway was that he was angry for what Tyler has been saying against Eminem and that album, and since he never expected Tyler to make fun of Eminem's work, he was in dilemma. Hence, he said what he said. Infact, Em has always praised Tyler for his creativity and work since the beginning. He didn't like/wanted spiting bars against Tyler, but had to do what he did in that song because of Tyler's double role and standard. He never apologised, nor he said SORRY. He just made it clear why he replied Tyler in his song. That's it !

I agree Eminem's sound completely changed during recovery. However, I feel like a lot of those old songs were fueled by drugs. So when he is writing songs with a clear head it's obviously going to sound different. I personally think kamikaze wasn't a great album. But I feel like it needed to happen, it's like a good movie but you're probably not going to watch it again.

Out of all the things going wrong in society, the fact that people seems to have forgotten what being satirical is, and that apparently artists aren't allowed to act characters or to talk about real shit going down anymore without them being accused of being like that in their personal life is one of the things that worry me the most. Not wanting anyone to talk about the reality of the world and how bleak it can actually be and to actually make it something hard to listen to or watch because *it should* really frightens me. Em, Tupac, Common, The Last Poets, Tyler, Kendrick and many more, Quentin Tarantino and Spike Lee in cinema, etc are all artists doing just that. You are NOT violent for *calling out* violence. You are NOT what you call out, you are NOT the bad guy in your story just because your story is a rap - and even if you were at one point, that doesn't mean you're still that person. People will do anything to shield themselves away from the reality of the world and the fact they want to try to erase it so badly and to cancel the whistleblowers is completely insane. Deep down, all of them knows that they're running into a wall at full speed with tunnel vision, but they do it anyway. Crazy. Edit : ok, that one slur was definitely not warranted tho
Assassin863

It's not being two faced and it shouldn't be surprising at all to see a fan trashing their favorite artist's music if it is in fact trash. Everyone else was saying Em's new stuff is trash, I'm assuming some long time fans as well. Tyler's apart of that group despite being an artist himself. This is still a fan/artist dynamic. I could understand this take if they were best friends and he was trashing his music publicly lol

@ 4:14 This May be a hot take but the ‘ex-lacks’ line is the only bar on the song River that I didn’t like, all the rest are fine. One bar in particular from that song which I don’t understand the flack for is the Spider-Man bar ‘so she’s been on the web lately, says maybe she will be my Gwen Stacy, to spite her man’, the ‘spite her man’ part obviously sounds like Spider-Man, which links in with the Gwen Stacy line and also the fact that she was on the web. I’m making this point because I’ve seen people use this particular line as an example of how bad the writing is on that album but I actually think that particular line is actually good.

Tbh it did seem a bit dumb that Tyler said that because the Album is ShadyXV, As in Shady Records 15 years. It didn't seem like a cash grab crab because Yelawolfs It's gone was basically showcased there before his Love Story Album (Love that album) Twisted was nice too. It seemed more like he was showcasing the talent he's acquired and he wanted to sit back a bit.
