Naim and Valerios are legends. They presented us the best competition in Olympyc History. Valerios Leonidis is the best weightlifter of Greece, is from pontos, like me. And we respect him very much. Everyone thinks Pyrros Dimas is the best one but I dont agree. If Valerios was not competing with Naim, he would take all the Golds. This competition showed the importance of friendship as well. Valerios came to funeral of Naim. And all Turkish press and people wellcomed him as a legend. After I see all these scenes, I am really upset about political problems. I always see Greeks people like my brothers. Greeetings to paradise, to Naim, the legend. And greetings to Valerios Leonidis, the magnificent weightlifter.

It’s such a pity that he missed the 1984 Olympics just because his country of birth boycotted the games. If he had attended the games he would have easily won the gold medal and become the 4 times Olympic champion.

amazing, i love it when during the lifts all i see is the person's face or someone in the crowd... like dafuq... and this is soo common in weightlifting it becomes infuriating. imagine if they make a football documentary and instead of showing a goal being scored they show the face of the goalkeeper...

21:29 That is such a sweet moment, the coach is completely devistated about the loss, truly saddened, but then he quickly pulls himself together, because he knows its not about him and he has to be there for Valerios.

The greatest motivation for Naim to win was the Greek them selves , they forced him to change his name and they persecuted him and his people over their identity religion.

Suley, manoglu was truly great, he had no competition and was wiping the field with opponents, but his Joe Frazier arrived in person of Valerios Leonides, and yet when the chips were down, Suleymanoglu won it in the clutch, cementing his ATG status. Not every great athlete gets that moment and some avoid it, Money Mayweather comes to mind.

There is nothing political in between Turkey and Greece. Just made up political bullshit, and Imperialist states are using it against both nation. Turks and Greeks are so similar in many different aspects. I met with lots of Greek, I was like looking to a mirror. We are brothers, no matter what idiot politicians or other countries think.

If Naim Süleymanoğlu was born in Turkey he wouldn't be what he was as the same as Halil Mutlu. After those two legendary Turks who was born and trained in Bulgary it is shame that we don't have any weight lifter who won gold medal in Olympics. It looks like we haven't learn anything from them or didn't want to learn.
