I'm Argentinian and I don't know if someone would ever read this that you forgot: the dictator of Argentina sent 18 to 22 years old guys to fight in the war without any previous training. They took young men from their families to fight a war they've never expected to fight. Organizations sent them donations such as food and clothes, but the soldiers never received them. This is why so many people here (myself included) say that our true enemy were not the British but our Negligent Goverment Those Argentinian soldiers were victims of the dictatorship of Argentina This rivalry is stupid, and I won’t get mad for some piece of land, I just feel sorry for all the lives lost in that war. And I don’t care if someone here calls me “traitor”, If I think differently from my other countrymen about this, there should be no problem

Unfortunately I believe that to be the act of the old juntra propoganda still being brought through to give the general populace something to look at to ignore the issues of Argentina, or make them try and get sympathy from other countries for being bullied by Britain. Unfortunately this leads to a large amount of annoyance on Europe's half, and the islanders live in fear of aggression from Argentina

Belgrano's sinking was only controversial amongst folk of a certain type. Her captain himself said he'd have done the same. That she was outside the exclusion zone didn't mean anything. @xxnightdriverxx9576
@xxnightdriverxx9576 2 aylar önce
The exclusion zone existed so the British would not accidentally fire on other ships from other nations passing by. It was basically a "everything inside this zone will be sunk" type of thing. It was never specified by the British government that Argentinian ships would only be sunk in the exclusion zone. It was never intended to be that way either. But some people apparently think that way lol.

@@xxnightdriverxx9576 It's because any ship entering the exclusion zone that wasn't british would be viewed as trying to resupply the argentinians, the argies weren't safe anywhere, they'd be attack anywhere, again people need to realize the exclusion zone was never intended for the argentinians, it was intended to keep civilian vessels and foreign countries vessels safe and away from the fighting or they'd run the risk of being attacked, if an argentinian vessel sailed towards the uk and entered uk homeland waters, that vessel would be attacked aswell, the argentinians even tried to attack gibraltar during their failed Operation Algeciras. The argentine navy was never safe apart from if they were staying in another countries port but even then they'd have been told to leave anyway.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 We all deserve to go to hell because we have sinned. But God loved us and gave us His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross in our place to pay the punishment of all of our sins for us when he died on the cross. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and yet God the Son also. God the Father (God)has raised Jesus his son from the dead. JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!!!! Repent of your sins, and believe in who Jesus is and what He did for you and that God the Father has raised Him from the dead and you WILL BE SAVED FROM THE LAKE OF FIRE(hell). Sinner’s prayer Lord, I know I’m a sinner, I believe that you died on the cross in my place of burning in hell forever so I wouldn’t have to go to hell. I accept your sacrifice for me. Please save me from the lake of fire and forgive my sins. Thank you for the gift of eternal life! Amen. We are saved by grace through faith! After accepting Jesus the Holy Spirit will come indwell you, and help guide you in your Christian life!:) Now turn from your old, sinful ways towards Jesus Christ and surrender your life to Him! My father was a conscript, sent to fight for Argentina in the Falklands War. The stories he's told me, from the Argentinian perspective, are legitimately bone chilling. From the fact that a bunch of severely undertrained young adults were forcibly being sent to fight an organized opponent, to the number of broken weapons many were being giving, to the INTENTIONAL drugging of foods being provided to them in order to calm the fear many experienced as they feared for the worst knowing all the odds stacked against them. And all because a deeply corrupt government wanted to curry support from it's citizens. I wasn't born until long after the war, but I still don't get how many Argentineans still care so much for the island, young and old. I can maybe get why people at the time felt so strongly for them (given all the propaganda being spread), but in this day in age, with all the info out there, I don't get it. Even my dad, who admittedly is still very bitter about the war, states that most of his anger now lies more with the Argentine government then it does with the British.

Yeah, the Argentinian troops were mostly conscripts with far too few officers and NCOs to lead them, whereas the lead British troops were Royal Marines and Paras, both highly trained, elite formations (the Marines have the longest basic training course of any regular army in the world at 42 weeks). Another interesting story from this conflict is the one of the UK's forward air attacks by RAF Avro Vulcan Bombers. They were I believe transported to the ascension islands and then flew to the Falklands, being refueled by Handley Paige Victor Carrier/Bombers - which also had to be refueled in the air in an incredibly complex operation. It's called Operation Black Buck, and it's a really interesting story of Thatcher's desire to keep the island, and of the ingenuity of the RAF engineers and pilots to make it happen.
@asharak84
@asharak84 2 aylar önce
It was an interesting operation, logistically and technically impressive, and also a really stupid waste of resources :D I love the Vulcan in general and love the style points for managing to get non-naval aircraft over Argentina but it achieved almost nothing, knew in advance it was likely to achieve almost nothing and significantly added to the workload of the sea harriers at a time when they were fairly critical to the overall success of the invasion. As someone who didn't live through it, didn't have to make any of the decisions etc I like that it happened, makes for interesting history to learn about, but I think had I been part of the Navy I'd have been very unimpressed.

There's a graphic novel by Raymond Briggs called "The Tin Pot Foreign General and the Old Iron Woman" is a satire on the Falklands war, it both hilarious and at the same time realistic and surreal. Like Briggs turned both Galtieri and Thatcher into giant metal robot monstrosity, with Galtieri carrying bloody knife and Thatcher literally shooting cannons out of her bosoms.

So what you’re saying is that there were orders from the Iron Maiden, “Get the islands back, failure will not be accepted,” so they called for artillery strikes and launched an attack so that they could get back in control and force the Argentinians to surrender; to take what was theirs and restore law and order. The then pushed the Argentinians further out to sea so that Falklands would be in their hands and back under British reign? I dont know dude, sounds pretty metal. So metal, it may even be a metal boot.

Did you know the Falkland war was one of the last wars for an army to use bayonets. Some marines were pinned and out of ammo so the lieutenant told them to load bayonets (because you know, Royal Marines). It was only then the Argentinians surrendered that battle because it well and good shooting at a range but when you have 50 or so marines charging at you with point bits of metal with the intent to kill you until you kill them all is a bit less ok
