I'll never understand what the official F1 media, channel and socials have against the 3rd most successful driver in the history of the sport it's baffling how you underestimate Vettel no matter what he has 14 victories in the turbo-hybrid era, was the 1st and only non Mercedes driver to lead the championship between 2014-2020 and the only one to challenge their dominance even with a slower car. one of the few to have multiple podiums with thee different teams. 4th biggest and most successful driver of this era. and yet you don't mention him. what a shame, really

You need to simply try so hard to prepare this type of "tribute video" for the turbo hybrid era of Formula 1. Sebastian Vettel was the only reason why so many people had watched Formula 1 in 2017 and 2018 years. Many people wanted to see number "5" driver of Scuderia Ferrari to win his "5th" championship against the dominating Mercedes Team. This was the main topic and even though not lasted long, this topic brought a reason for people to watch Formula 1. No offense but it wasn't Hamilton.

One of the most boring eras of F1 in recent memories must be Said since 2014 lots of fans like me lost interest in the sports until this season. This artificial overtaking through DRS meant drivers weren't able to show their potential and breezed past other drivers and no real racing.
Clok-Roo, The Primordial
That, and the near total one-sided nature in Mercedes' favour. I still question whether we can consider Hamilton one of the all time greats when he barely had to contend for race wins.

I can't believe that didn't mention to Sebastian Vettel that he fight against Merecedes 2 years in a row (2017-2018). And the Mercedes era was so boring, the only can get better was the 2021 season without a doubt, and also some races were amazing between the years, but one team that was dominated everything was not fun. That's why I left to watched since they started the Hybrid era in 2014, but I come back to see it in 2017. Let's hope that 2022 will be more better, with more teams and drivers fighting for the championships and please try to give the show what the fans want!!! How it was in 2021!

@jedijackattack they (F1) well and truly lost the plot after 2016, imo. I'm not hopeful about 2022. Might be proven wrong, but with long, wide cars, and bigger tyres, and the ever-increasing street circuits that appear on the calendar... yeah

@SMILINGBARKAzerbaijan. It's very likely he would have won that race had he not lost his cool under the safety car. It still would have been a tall order for him to win that year, but it would have been possible had he not done what he did in Baku and Singapore. Because yes, Singapore was dumb too. He was only three points behind in the championship and the Merc was nowhere that weekend. Kimi would have let him back through. But instead of just letting Max go and either hoping to get back at him later in the race, or banking the points for second place, he chose to do it all in the first hundred yards or so. Hamilton, in contrast, when faced with a similar situation in Malaysia, decided not to fight with Max, but instead bank the points for second place. Vettel threw away 40-50 points in just those two weekends.

This is what I love about new F1. They even highlighted out their own mistakes which mean things will get better and better after this.
Technically speaking, we’ve got two generations of the turbo-hybrid era from 2014-2021. Initially, there was 2014-2016, when these engines were introduced alongside a low downforce and skinny tires design philosophy, and then 2017-2021, with wider, high downforce, high mechanical grip design philosophy. 2022 will be a third generation of the turbo-hybrid era.

@FRCTL It was for Toto apparently, dude actually asked that a safety car not be deployed earlier in the race, even he knew that's an insane thing to try and influence. Mess was cleared up, lapped cars shouldn't even be part of the equation, so they were removed from it.
FRCTL 4 aylar önce
@VColossalV the safety car wasn’t the issue?
VColossalV 4 aylar önce
@FRCTL People bring it up because it's relevant, saying that it can happen in any season doesn't suddenly make it irrelevant, or not worth talking about. Your previous comment literally tried to dismiss the impact that race, and the following one, had on the championship. By definition it isn't a racing incident, Lewis got a penalty for it. He went more wide than usual, it was determined. The universe always finds balance. Safety cars can happen anytime, hard luck big boy.
FRCTL 4 aylar önce
@VColossalV everything has an impact on the championship. but, ‘big boy’ what happened in silverstone has a chance of happening in every race every season, it’s a racing incident, they’re a part of formula 1. but what abu dhabi was is clear manipulation and race fixing, arguably worse than crashgate. that’s not a part of F1, i don’t care that lewis lost, i just care about this sports integrity which it has lost. don’t even begin to compare silverstone and abu dhabi.

As the new era begins, rising stars such as Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are set to rise.

And before this era was the V8 era, where there was a title fight from 6/8 seasons of that era and all from different teams

That pretty much sums up how disappointing this era has been compared to the previous era

Technically speaking, we’ve got two *generations* of the turbo-hybrid era from 2014-2021. Initially, there was 2014-2016, when these engines were introduced alongside a low downforce and skinny tires design philosophy, and then 2017-2021, with wider, high downforce, high mechanical grip design philosophy. 2022 will be a third generation of the turbo-hybrid era.

@Graeme S ar.....are you serious? 2022 introduces a new fuel the engines need to use which requires a new overhaul to optimize their performance on the new fuel.

cause nobody wants to remember this era but Fia doesnt want to change engines, such a worthless era compared to others, especially the 2010-13 era, in this one we only trully got one year with "fair" ompetition between 2 teams and it was dirtied by FIA bs from both sides

@Firebolt exactly, 2009 was a new era but you wouldn’t say the V8 era ended in 2008.

Vettel literally teleported from 2013 to 2022 straightaway missing the entire hybrid era, well done🥲🥲 The man who gave a tough time for the Mercedes at least for a few seasons goes unnoticed, really hurts as a fan

I wish we could keep “equality” and “diversity” out of this. Lewis did not get to where he is through affirmative action.

Basically, Mercedes had a two years' head start for developing their engine and essentially tailored the regulations to what they built. No wonder no-one could challenge them -- the game was rigged from the start.

2010, 2011 and 2012 were the best years of modern F1, with thrilling races and wide variation in performance between races

After looking at the comments, I just realised how crazy it is the name 'Vettel' wasn't mentioned once. What's even crazier was I was guilty of not realising that.

You would think that after a scandalous end of the season, F1 might've learned a lesson on being objective. Instead of a real era we got a summary without substance.

@Fast Lightning Mate, Im an engineer and have literally analyzed the laptimes in quali and race pace, I know what Im talking about. And again, in France Mercedes were slower in quali but quicker in the race. Because those are two completely different things And in SA Lewis was quicker the while race. Even with a broken fron wing he set quicker laptimes than Max did on his firt and second stint on new tires...
Ludvig 4 aylar önce
@Aayush No it doesnt because its a comparison between the quickest driver in the team. Sochi will of course have an impact since Max didnt take part in quali there, but its not enough to shift the advantage to RB
