My concern with SF defense is the secondary. Their front 7 is great. The other concern is Shanahan’s clock management in late situations, like the two Super Bowls he was in as the OC in Atlanta and against KC.

There secondary played well vs the cowboys if you take the one 48 yard catch. They had 2 ints. If they niners keep hurts in the pocket they could definitely come out with the win

Best defense is a good offense. If the 49ers can move the chains with Kittle, CMC, etc, they can keep the Eagles offense off the field.

@Joebats I haven't missed a single Eagles game this year and the biggest reason the run defense is mid for the Eagles is because they usually have a lead and many of the games this year they had big ones. So to not give up bombs Gannon plays zone and often backs safeties up...This allows the running game to explode, but at that point that's in the Eagles favor. The Giants did it last week. The Eagles were up 28 points so they played conservative pass defense and Saquon started gashing but at that point you're taking so much time off the clock doing that. If you are down by multiple scores and use the run game on a 7 or 8 minute drive to score most D coordinators will take that all day.

As a Niner fan My concern is 2 things Defending the RPO and Philadelphias monstrous pass rush which nobody in the world is talking about! Yes we have Bosa, but they got Reddick, Sweat, Hargrave and Graham All with 11 plus sacks!! Shanahan needs to come up with something extraordinary!

Respect to the 49ers who have a great defense and plenty of weapons on offense. Stopping Jalen Hurts may be the game plan but it’s going to take more than that to beat the Eagles. They still have to stop their other offensive weapons. The Eagles are only so so against the run which the 49ers will need to keep the Eagles pass rush at bay. It’s going to be a great game

Here’s the thing with “ neutralizing” hurts. If you wanna try and stop him from running the ball/ rpos you still have to account for our running backs/ run game as a whole as well as hurts passing the ball which he isn’t afraid to do, he’ll throw it up into coverage without second guessing

Their rush defense has actually been very good since signing Suh and Linval Joseph along with Jordan Davis being back in the lineup.

Problem with RPO,s in a physical game is all it takes is one solid hit or one rollup and you best offensive weapon is gone or compromised just like mahomes. a reason why most of these RPO qb,s are either out with injuries or playing with game limiting injuries.

The concern is the Niners secondary against AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, Eagles O-Line is also healthy and can limit the niners pass rush. Niners secondary has to steal some possessions.

Mad Dog is right, it really is a pick em. People acting like the Eagles are destined to blow out the 49ers, the line is currently 2.5 pts in favor of the Eagles. Remember how much ESPN was crapping on the Niners over the line being at 3 pts against the Cowboys? What ESPN isn't talking about is, Eagles defense is ranked 21st against the run. If 49ers can run the ball constantly, they have a good chance. 49ers secondary is the weakness, the front 7 are top notch. If the D line can contain Jalen, he'll be forced air it out. Like Stephen A said, the 49ers would rather take their chance with Jalen throwing it, rather him running.

Both teams want to run. SF was the best run stopping defense in the NFL giving up a total of 1350 or so yards in 17 games. Eagles gave up over a thousand yards more. And it's not like this is the first year this SF defense was elite against the run so pretending it's a result of a weak schedule is like saying they've played weak schedules for the last five years. That being said the Eagles were the best pass defense team in the league so if they can stop the run SF will almost certainly lose. I think this game comes down to Hurts making a couple big plays down field, picking up some key first downs with his legs, and SF just not being able to keep up. Purdy made a few perfect throws against Dallas. If even one of them isn't perfect it's a different game. Factor in the Eagles having home filed, and an extra day to rest/prepare and it's hard to see how SF wins this game.

Last time I checked they have the same coach , same premier defensive guys that played against K Murray, Pat Mahomes, and Russell Wilson. They haven’t faced a RPO system like the Eagles offense. It’s too much to worry about especially when Hurts can pick your defense apart throwing the ball, affect the read option game where he can either pull it or give it to Miles Sanders. He can exploit the weakness in 49ers secondary who I think #38 is the weak link (yes he caught a pick but Dak is just Dak he made a terrible read). All in all I see Eagles winning by 3.

People don't understand how defenses work, a defense like the Niners could never beat the Eagles or Chiefs or Bengals. It isn't designed to. It's designed to stop short yardage plays and the run, but mobile QBs who can go over the top completely destroy these types of defenses. The ONLY way to beat teams with explosive offenses is to either play keepaway (like the WFT did to the Eagles) or to out score them in a shootout (like how the Chiefs win against tough opponents). In other words, the SF OFFENSE needs to be the one to stop the Eagles. And I don't think Purdy is mature enough or experienced enough yet to carry a game all by himself.

The eagles had a better year for sure but doesn’t mean they’re better than sf just because they have one more win this season and really bruh at least bring up who Philly played sounded lowkey bias because the niners had a few easy games while Philly had a whole a lot more than the niners did ,the eagles played the afc south, Steelers that have no qb, a washed Arron dodgers with no weapons which that game was close, they split with Dallas and was both close games and Dallas is really good considering what we also did to them last Sunday…what does this tell you in your opinion?

That clown is laughing and later on he brought out the old "they haven't faced a team like this" about the 49ers facing the eagles. The 49ers are the #1 defense for a reason. The Eagles have a good defense, but so did the Cowboys (and in fact, their speed was a bigger problem for the 49ers offense than what the Eagles bring). The 49ers haven't faced anything like that? they actually did. It's the Eagles who haven't faced anything like the 49ers defense. A year ago people were questioning Hurts being a starter. He needed the addition of another elite WR to look like he does, but people in the media immediately ignore what he looked like before just like they ignored what Dak looked like before the Tampa game. He still isn't Mahomes or prime Brady or Manning. A great defense can stop him. Laughing at that idea makes you look dumb. These are the two best teams in the NFC. Anyone who thinks one of these teams is much better than the other or that it will be a blowout shouldn't be talking about sports.

For me the only way the eagles lose this game is if purdy actually takes charge of the offense. He has 0 pocket presence and a feel as soon as the first sack comes and it will come very quickly, hes going to lose faith mentality due to being a rookie. He hasnt faced a single dominant defence until the cowboys and how did he do then. 19 points will never win against the eagles. This is the eagles game to lose especially being in the linc and i dont see them losing

I'll keep it short and sweet. . Jalen will dominate through the air and running the ball himself. SF has yet to play a 11v11 QB since Justin Fields this year. Week 2 2022 doesn't justify what they'll do. Sirianni was play calling at that time, Jalen has excelled in his passing this season, and we have another stud receiver. Too many problems for the Niners they've yet to see this year. This defense was good but upgraded in so many ways. The Eagles are just a more talented team. Purdy is going to have to play the game of his life and not just the clean game he's expected to play. I'll give the Eagles one flaw, they must finish on their open field tackles. Eagles 27-20

Nuggets I can hit 10 grand if Nuggets win the WCF and Celtics win it all. But I'll still have Nets as my #1 because I feel KD and Kyrie are a better duo than Tatum and Brown. I have wagers on Bucks and Chiefs but I don't believe they'll win it all. The Chiefs were the favorites to win it all before Mahomes' injury. Now they're the 3rd betting choice and my Niners are the 4th choice. Bengals and Eagles are tied for favoritism. I believe if Niners can beat Eagles, they can beat the Bengals. They basically had Mahomes on lock for 3 quarters until Tyreek made that 44-yard catch at 3rd and 15. Bengals' O-line is messed up. Niners play a physical brand of defense that can blitz Mahomes or Burrow every time. My Niners can win it all but that's only IF we get by the Eagles this Sunday. But I'm banking more on the Eagles. They remembered who they were. A team that started 8-0 and 13-1 at one point while my Niners only got rolling after we got Run CMC and blowout loss to KC while benefitting from a weak schedule. If my Niners somehow beat the Eagles, we can win it all. The NBA champion will come from the Atlantic. And the NFL champion is coming from the NFC. Purdy doesn't have to be that special. Be like Nick Foles. You don't have to be an all-time great QB to win a ring. Just don't get in the way and Purdy hasn't. Just be Purdy good enough.
