@ Patriot Pakistani. Not only in the muslim world, when I was younger I read many stories (both historical & fictional) about the Lionheart & Salahudin; and the unique bond these two kings had. Many in the west who actually paid attention during history classes in highschool have respect for the man. And despite the nobility (no matter the continent they were from) in historical records/stories often have been portrayed bigger and better than they were in real life, despite all of this; he truly has been one of the most fascinating kings that ever walked this planet. As a westener, he is one of my personal favorite historical people.

@GamingThisEra Richard defeated Saladin at the Battle of Arsuf, the only time their full armies met in open battle. Arsuf was an important victory. The Ayyubid army of Saladin was not destroyed, despite the considerable casualties it suffered, but it was scattered and forced to flee the battlefield. Contemporary military historians believe that had Richard been able to dictate the use of his forces as he intended, and use his heavy cavalry as he had planned, rather than having to send them early to rescue insubordinate nobles who charged without orders, the Crusader victory might have been decisive. In any event, after Arsuf, Saladin was able to regroup and essentially devoted his strategy to keeping his army intact, between Richard and Jerusalem. Having been beaten soundly by Richard once, Saladin was no longer willing to risk a second decisive battle. Arsuf had also considerably damaged Saladin's reputation as a commander, while boasting Richard's stature as a courageous warrior and battlefield commander. Richard went on to conquer, then defend and hold Jaffa - a strategically crucial move toward taking Jerusalem. Saladin had to evacuate and demolish most of the fortresses of southern Palestine, Ascalon, Gaza, Blanche-Garde, Lydda and Ramleh. (he believed they could not be held unless he risked his army in open battle - which he now had no intention to do) Richard took the fortress of Darum, the sole place that Saladin had garrisoned, with his own household troops. By depriving Saladin of the coast, Richard seriously threatened Saladin's hold on Jerusalem. But in the end, Saladin's patience and strategy won. Richard simply did not have the forces and time to lay siege to Jerusalem while Saladin had an intact army in play. By delaying, however much he lost, Saladin held Jerusalem and forced Richard to negotiate with Saladin for a three year truce which allowed Christian pilgrims to travel safely to Jerusalem. So to answer your question specifically, though Richard defeated Saladin in the one battle between their armies, Saladin was able to regroup, recognize that he would not be able to defeat Richard in a decisive battle, and use a strategy which successfully held Jerusalem, despite losses of land on the coast.

@MOHD ATIF you do realise that this is a trt documentary and there is a channel called trt kurdî completely in kurdish. Turkish government isnt against kurds, it has hundredts of kurd members. It is against PKK.
