Hello Friends. Well it’s another weird video. You might notice I like to make these a lot, I don’t really enjoy sticking to one specific area, as much as I do just talk about whatever interests me at the time, and the reason im able to do that is cause I don’t need to worry about youtube algorithm nonsense (or copyright, this video was hit with three different content ids before it even went live) and thats thanks to the support I get from my patrons. So if you want to help ensure I can just.. I guess keep this channel weird, you can do so here: www.patreon.com/Supereyepatchwolf Also if Patreon isn’t your thing, I also have a Ko Fi now: ko-fi.com/supereyepatchwolf#achievementUnlockedModal But hey. Either way, really appreciate you watching the video and just following me in general, have a good one.

Having many partners is an unhealthy sex life regardless of gender It's just that women decide who to give their bodies to while the men are the ones fighting for aprrval, so the societal judgement metrics are different for the two scenarios. Still, staying healthy and not fucking everyone is something everyone should strive for

at 24:09 you mentioned the writers for the second season, The name Gregg Araki was listed. When he is around he does some crazy movies if you have a chance look at the Teen apocalypse trilogy. Totally F*** Up, The Doom Generation, and Nowhere (which is hard to find) though all movies are based on teen homosexuality, drama, eroticism, alien abudction, drugs, cults you name it, and that was in the mid - late 90s. Gregg Araki should get more credit.

Yeah you are right. Apparently the season 3 finale only happened because the dude who played Jughead was too whiney and refused to take his shirt off in the cold. So, not only did they not know what they were going to do, but presumably had something entirely different in mind.

when you did this, the announcement of Chilling Sabrina coming to town was already public?

You propose a strange argument. From an entertainment standpoint, yes the show is good in the same way that Rick and Morty is good. It's weird and quirky and shocking. From a storytelling standpoint, its the representation of a beginners first novel draft while still in high school. The reason why people hate on Riverdale after seaon 1 is because its not realistic and believable. It doesn't make sense and yet its set up from the beginning to be serious and dramatic, not crazy and self destroying. This is the perfect example of flogging a dead horse, except they killed it themselves and instead of fixing, they left it to rot as if it was the staple all along. And i for one can agree with you to a certain extent, because when did someone decide that Fiction had to be realistic? It's called fiction for the very reason that its not realistic. Unfortunately in an age where people want things to feel real and immersive, creators have to chizel down the wacky to make room for emotions, reactions and often scientific explanations

The private prison "escape" was a (joking) nod to La Catedral, the prison constructed by Pablo Escobar. Escobar made a deal with the Colombian govt. to turn himself in & serve five years in prison as long as 1. they didn't allow the US to extradite him, and 2. he was allowed to have the prison built to his specifications.

Fun fact in interviews, the cast revealed Jughead was actually supposed to be there at the S3 cliffhanger where they burn their clothes, but it was a really cold night and Cole refused to leave his trailer half naked to film the scene. The entire implication of Jughead's death and what became the driving plot of season 4, ONLY EXISTS BECAUSE COLE REFUSED TO LEAVE HIS TRAILER.

looking at the list of writers i noticed the name Julie Plec, she sounded familiar so I looked her up. She's responsible for writing The Vampire Diaries and its two spin offs The Originals and Legacies. Looking at those three shows and then Riverdale, that explains a lot with all the bonkers plots and the really weird lines.

The big take away from this is I REALLY missed out not getting into wrestling as a kid Also, fun fact, the ENTIRE kick off for the scene in the forest is that Cole Sprouse, Jughead's actor, didn't wanna get up at 4 in the morning and freeze his ass off in the middle of the woods. All four of them were supposed to be there, burning their clothes, supposedly entering a murder pact with one another, but Sprouse was like, "Nah, fuck that" and just.. didn't turn up for the shoot. So, they rewrote it to where the gang looks like they murdered him. Yes, that is actually what happened.

I feel like they could easily retroactively explain the green eyes thing by having it so the guy was being possessed by a ghost or demon this entire time and whenever his eyes are green that’s when the ghost is in control. That could help be “a setup” for another wacky crazy demon plot in a sixth season or something.

Season six is airing right now and they have all gotten super powers. Archie is indestructible unless someone has a certain type of rock (hmmm), Betty can see the auras of bad people when they're about to do bad shit, Jughead went deaf and can hear people's thoughts, Cheryl becomes pyrokinetic, Ronnie becomes a literal black widow that kills mother fuckers when they fuck. oh! And Cheryl is also a witch.. and a super villain happens to move into town at the same time, and he's building a fucking train. He is clearly a real bad guy with an agenda, but nobody except the gang can tell. Because of mind control obviously. And he also has jughead's power and Archie's. And the villain is building a train through pops because the train is some type of apocalypse train.. because.. apocalypse train. Oh and Pops is a sacred holy ground where witnesses from heaven must watch the final battle but the bad guy is trying to destroy pops so it won't happen and everyone and thing just dies. And they find this out because jughead's new girlfriend, Pop Tates grand daughter who you meet in season 5, also got powers and can time travel, finding out by accidently time traveling and meeting an angel, nay, an arch Angel named Gabriel. Oh.. and Betty is bi sexual, and quite possibly in love with a serial killer named TBK, the trash bag killer from season 5, who kidnapped Betty between seasons 4 and 5 and made her saw people's bodies into parts.. Sheesh that's a lot, but wait.. how did they get powers? Lol.. Season 5 ends with Ronnie's father Hiram putting a bomb under Archie's bed and it blows up killing Betty and Archie, oh, who are fucking now. But wait.. season six opens in an alternate reality called rivervale that was caused by the explosion and only Jughead knows because Jughead knows because Jughead came across Jughead's dead body by the lonely highway, and the two realities are about to collide and end them both so Jughead tells Jughead if he starts writing comics about rivervale then it will stabilize and save them both, so he stays in a bunker with a typewriter for all of eternity so at the end of the rivervale event, an event where Satan bartered for main characters souls, Cheryl and all of Riverdale sacrifice Archie to pagan wood gods, and Sabrina the teenage FUCKING witch shows up and transfers somebody's soul into Cheryl's body or some shit and into a doll. The Rivervale event all ends with the beginning of the super hero arc and everything else I told you about. AND MORE!! so much fucking more lol

I keep hearing this show described as, like, 'Seinfeld is a show about nothing, Riverdale is a show about everything', and like, god damn even just this video drives that point home. Riverdale is a show where everything happens. Every time I hear about Riverdale I learn about a new plot point from the same handful of seasons. The goal at this point in Riverdale is to just always make things happen in it and don't look back. Also hearing about the history of the guy who pitched/writes the show has made the show make SO much more sense lol

Having never seen the show, or read the comics, I can only give my take on the little snippet about Veronica not understanding poverty. It COULD have been a great time for the show to demonstrate that people who have always been wealthy can't really picture what it is like to be poor, they can't imagine it because it's so far removed from anything remotely similar to their own lived experience. But it sounds like Riverdale didn't do that, and actually played Veronica's line straight? For me, that's where I would've introduced an arc of "Rich person who is oblivious to the struggles of the poor has to learn to acknowledge her own privilege and develop real empathy".

And to think, he wrote this BEFORE the season where everyone gets superpowers, and WELL before the TIME TRAVEL season. Riverdale is like if you gave an aspiring writer a monkey's paw wish that they would get to write a TV show about whatever they wanted, but it was the only show they would ever work on, so they just decided to put every single story idea they'd ever had into it. All at once. One right after the other. Regardless of how much (or how little) sense it makes.

The black hood introduction could've very well just have been a "stage a murder as a failed robbery" scenario, and thinking of it like that makes all but one of these issues simply go away; The green eyes. That's never going to be explainable. That is the one and only nail in the coffin for the writers not knowing what/who it was going to be. It could be that, because in the beginnings of most episodes there's a short monolog by Jughead, the show itself is a recount of events (so Jughead wouldn't have written that Hal had green eyes until this was revealed), but- that's a little bit too convoluted to have a high chance of being what it is. Like SEW said, the green eyes are still an issue with that.

The problem with characterization is the fact that none of the characters never stay constant and true to themselves, because they just do whatever the script needs them to do next. No static convictions, character traits or motivations for any of them.

I’m sad that Jughead wasn’t asexual in the show. Like imagine a asexual dude running around town with his motorcycle gang and beating the living hell out of people and not being the standard (nothing against it) of sweet little asexual person how loves unicorns. My as an asexual dude would have loved it to have this representation and I would, for me, made the show soo much better

@AroAce yes exactly:)

Especially since when people think of an asexual, if they know what that even means, they only think of women since in the eyes of socitey men must like sex.

In regards to Jughead, he wasn’t uninterested in romance. He used to date Ethel. He even said that he likes girls, but he likes food more. He wasn’t made asexual until the recent run that started after Riverdale came on the air.

The fact that this show was based off a goofy, lighthearted 60s comic series fucking baffles me

@The LIM Report also the whole Nancy drew series too. Supposed to be the origin of Nancy drew and her group of friends and CW was like hey so I’m going to take this lighthearted story and shit all over it and have unrealistic teenage drama because that’s what shows need. Then cue a lot of unescessary make out scenes. And drama that makes no sense. My expectations of shows produced with the involvement of CW is very very very low

Idk, archie comics have been pretty wild on their own. Especially the side spinoffs. I bet at least 80% of the ridicolous shit happening in riverdale is either inspired or even straight up lifted from stuff like house of horrors, mad house ma ads/gla ads, or the other weird weird things they published in the extended archie universe. Sabrina also gets downright disturbing in the source material; the 90's sitcom and cartoon we all know and love is like, __heavily__ sanitized in places. And we shouldn't forget that the mainstay of at least the first 30 years of the comic is a really terribly toxic love triangle, that archie does his best to __keep__ unresolved and problematic because he likes dating two girls at once, or sometimes three or four. Among them sabrina by the way. In one of the reboots he entirely ditches betty and even riverdale to move to greendale with sabrina. It's a wild ride.

I knew I was never going to watch this show, I knew it was gonna be bad, but I never knew it was going to unlock this understanding about creating things. 'Failing spectacularly' meant so much to me in the context of the show, and the fears I have with making anything. Now I know that no matter what I make, as long as I put everything into it, my whole soul, even if it's a spectacular failure at least I put my all into it. At least I had fun. And if someone else enjoys it, then that's just a bonus. 💕✨

That's part of why I'm more hesitant to criticize the actors' skills than a lot of people. No actor can make material as silly as this, in a show as self-serious as Riverdale, and make it sound _good._ (Also, when multiple lead actors have "acting problems," I tend to suspect the director over the actors.)

So I’m at the beginning of the video and I haven’t watched riverdale but like the concept of an adult woman pretending to be a high schooler in a teen drama where all the teens are played by adults anyways is fascinating me… like I feel like with a certain amount of genre awareness it could be used really effectively to play with the audience’s suspension of disbelief. Like I was watching this series of internet musicals and it has a small enough cast that most of the actors were playing multiple roles and that’s just like a thing in plays sometimes so you don’t really think about it but then later in the series it turns out that two of the characters played by the same guy actually WERE the same guy, who just magically time travelled and it made my mind explode and I just feel like you could pull off something similar in like this specific kind of like tv teen drama where none of the teens really look like teens anyways and idk if you did it right I feel like it could be a real fun sucker punch 0-0

It's heavily flawed. It's absolute garbage writing, and yet it it is still so frickin great and I love to watch it. It really is a greatly entertaining show if you just let yourself sit back and enjoy the craziness that happens. It's like.... Everyone knows the Fast & Furious Films aren't *good.* But when you get scenes like 'The Stree Always Wins!"... How can you not love it? How is that not entertaining as hell? It's a refuge in absurdism and audacity, and I genuinely appreciate the show for it.

I've watched this video a couple of times, and I wondered why it kept pulling me back. Beyond the amazing script and editing Super Eyepatch Wolf always puts out on his work, it just recently hit me why it is that kept me hearing again and again of his description of Riverdale. If you detach yourself completely off the show, and just take the events he describes in the first couple of minutes... Well, it's classic comics stuff. It's the same enjoyment I get out of watching Deadpool flirt with death itself, out of watching spiderman fight a doctor so prolific he can alter DNA itself and has used this power not to heal all illness in the world but to make himself an actual dinosaur, or that one time when Nightwing turned into a giant bat monster. It's crazy shit in a pre-established universe with nothing but the purpose of having fun. The amount of hate the show has gotten, in relation to comics, is insanely disproportionate. It's not the best in the world, but neither was it RHATO and it's still sold immensely well and harbors a decent fanbase. It's so clear to me right now that this is once again simply because it garnered a large female fanbase, especially if you compare it to the reception of "I am not Starfire" which is, by all means, a decently enough written work, but was simply hated because of the demographic it landed with.

I unironically love S1 of Riverdale. It had a lot of heart and though a lot of the plotlines were far from perfect I felt like I really liked a lot of the characters and the storylines itself. The scene with Cheryl and Jughead with Jughead getting slapped in the lunchroom was still a really well shot scene, as well as when Cheryl tried to drown herself and when Jughead got arrested, barely got out due to shit being unfair, and then tried to reach out to his mom who essentially said she didn't want him. You really felt for the characters in all these scenes, and they felt very real during those moments. I hate Veronica though. ALSO I JUST GOT TO THIS PART OF THE VIDEO I WILL ALWAYS DEFEND JUGHEAD'S 'I'M WEIRD' SPEECH. I and so many people I know get immediately defensive about things due to being shit on a huge amount in the past, so we'll meet someone or they'll point something out that we do/wear that we know is 'objectively weird' to someone in our past and immediately blurt out "I know it's weird leave it alone don't worry about it". This gives me massive Jughead is a weirdo who doesn't understand no one cares that much about his beanie and is mostly pulling his leg but he's oddly insulted by it so he gets the jump on it by calling HIMSELF weird (you can't call me weird if I already know I'm weird child antics)
