Watching the Cowboys Giants game live, it was scary seeing Jones stumble. But when I was watching I assumed he had spit on his mouth, but now I think he bit through his lip 🤕
I remember watching this game, you could tell he was seeing little birdies flying around. For a time there, his feet weren't touching the ground while trying to make it to the sideline. Also, they showed him walking and it was like he was drunk. They never should have picked him up. @Jason Blessing who was unconscious- Mahomes? Other players were mentioned too.
I was looking for hard clean hits. These are mostly bad luck and fouls causing injury. As much as I like hard his, I don't like to see players getting injured
@Jay dude gtfoh. Millions dosent do anything if you have a fuckin brain injury that’s serious. Their health is way more important. Just cause they have millions then it’s ok if they go brain dead? Foh
@alextoyalex that's the thing that always makes me nervous, it's obviously good to be a supportive teammate but you have to be so careful with head and neck injuries
except with a potential head or neck injury it's probably best they leave him to be attended to by the medical staff, in case the player needs to be immobilized as opposed to picking him up taking him to the sideline.
That dude that pulled Leaven off the ground at first made me so mad! Clearly the guy wasn’t ready to get up and he didn’t have his hand out for help or anything. What if it had been a neck injury that could have been made worse by that? Or a broken bone?
That was sincere concern for another man...didn't matter if he was an opponent. That is CLASS right there. I hope someone will step in like that for him if he ever gets hurt in a game himself. WE need more humanity and compassion in ALL SPORTS. Just because another player is on the other team it is still being a human being to help...no matter who they are.
I played football though high school, some in college before I switched to rugby. The first thing I learned after switching was just how little football players know about tackling lol they just dive in, often times head first. There are much safer and effective ways to tackle that won’t lead to a concussion every time there’s a hit.
@Jack Metrro I think it's women who are making these rules trying to turn football into a sport of wimps!! It seems now that just about every hit is a targeting review. This is football, and if you don't want to get hit,go play flag football with the girls!! My opinion.
@Benjamim Redmond it's very simple,if you're going to stop the game every single play for a targeting review, why even put on the pads in the first place? These people making these rules are turning football into a powderpuff sport. If you don't want to get hit,go play flag football with the girls, end of story. My opinion.
@Horseman Hammer Ok lol I went and played a sport with no protection besides a mouth piece so I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Either way there’s safer ways to tackle and can still deliver big hits and be able to remember your family members names in 15 years. That’s the reason rugby is the fastest growing team sport in the states, people want a fun physical game and not get their brains scrambled week after week for their entire career from elementary school through college and maybe the league lol
I understand these hits are actually dangerous and sometimes even life threatening, but when for example a safety/or cornerback is running at a receiver whom the defense doesn’t know if they are going to make the catch or not and if they miss it, it’s kinda hard to stop or change directions when your running at someone that fast.
@PJzzz except if you keep your head up you are going to cause neck injuries to yourself on any sort of contact. Your body is low and your head is high, your head plants into their chest you are going to feel that so much. That is virtually a guarantee if you do that. Not even that, if you are going for the hit to break up the pass, you have to go directly for them. You will not have time to change direction, especially if you are midair already. It’s literally impossible to change direction or slow yourself down without having your feet on the ground
I can’t imagine the guilt that you carry after causing an injury. Like, if I ever get in the NFL and I hit someone and they’re carted off I’d be crying for that guy, cuz I wouldn’t want to cause someone’s career to end like this.
Repent to Jesus Christ! “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,” Philippians 2:12 NIV C
Man that hit on Mahomes was scary, he means so much to that franchise, it was amazing to see his entire team surround him and bring him to the side. God bless all these players for all they do.
Taylor Lewan was horrifying to watch on live tv, and then to see that Ryan Shazier had tweeted his support just made it worse; Lewan's career wasn't abruptly ended like his, but I cannot imagine seeing that happen to someone else after experiencing something like that myself. I would be shocked if that didn't at least spark some kind of ptsd on Shazier's part.
Man, the way some of these players collapse after general head collisions is terrifying. Maybe the camera angles don’t show every crucial angle, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in a season regardless.
I know they've given QBs a lot more, maybe too much protection -- but man as a whole the game is just as brutal as its ever been. Can't say that about other leagues.
@adam logan Now if you want to bring up Butkus days its even more soft today than it was then. Plus Butkus was freaking fast for a guy that massive. Barely anything was off limits back then. The only position that was smaller back then was oline. Linebackers, and dline were still huge. And dbs seemed to be bigger. Plus these guys had to cover Bob Hayes who is arguably the fastest man in Olympic history. Hayes running in the 9's in the 100 meter dash with someone else's cleats in lane one on a muddy track. Is the equivalent if not better than Bolts 9.59 on a synthetic track with advanced cleats. How many guys today do you think could cover prime Bob Hayes? They would get burnt every play, coverage is pathetic today.
@adam logan players are not stronger today than they were in the 90s and 2000s, they are also smaller today, there are overall slightly faster players at certain positions, not every position. But that has nothing to do with the fact that the nfl is extremely soft today. It's the commissioners fault more so than the players fault.
@John Ortan yeah ok, players are only stronger and faster and the game is being played in more space which creates more collisions at higher speeds....I love an old school 3 yards and a pile of dust, but honestly the hits are not that brutal because you dont get much of a running start. Imo the fast 200lb safeties hit a lot harder than big as hell slow players. The game is still just as brutal and it's loaded with athletes with explosive power. I love old school guys like butkus, but that man was so unathletic, he would look like a newborn deer out there, Derrick henry would make him look stupid.
@Trombone Kingdom yes, there’s a chance he never comes back from a torn ACL, especially if it’s a serious one. People don’t realize how bad a soft tissue injury is until they experience jy
Two times I got extremely worried: Davonte Adams gets hit in the head by 49’s guy, and that big hit the cardinals did after the packers guy got the punt.
At 6:55, worst thing to do by his teammates… if he stays on the ground or not moving, don’t try to get him up! Let the medical staff do their job, you’re just making things worst and risking to aggravate the injury
@Heru Santoso exactly. If someone is injured or down on the ground, it's common sense to not force them up. Some people I think just don't care or are stupid.
I find it mind boggling that players still do this thing. At this stage, they should be well-informed on what they should or shouldn't do when stuff like this happens.
My dad used to play a lot of highschool football back in the 70's and he got a lot of concussions. His memory to this day blows. Not major, but he forgets a lot of obvious things. I played football too in HS but i never played college. Plus i was a D-end so i wasn't really in danger.
I'm a cowboys fan, but I honestly kind of felt bad for the giants in that game. they lost like 4 players to injury edit: including danny dimes and saquon
Prayer to the affected and the rest of the league! We’ve seen soooo many injuries already, I hope everyone can be safe for the remainder of the season!
That is not going to happen, Trumpettes. You see when big steroided guys try to ram each other at full speed, some of them are going to get hurt. Laws of physics man.
Thank you for this reality check of high impact sports. I enjoy football and forget the frailty of man as I get caught up in the action of being invincible.
Bridgewater did see it, but missed the catch… that was a dirty ass hit imo. Dude had him even if he did make the catch, but you could tell he was out to hurt. Some guys get like that or even stay like that… life usually becomes very bad for them later on.
I like football a lot. I watch every game, edited TRvid version (thank you NFL) but...... All Professional Wrestlers understand that they are there to entertain. They practice the craft as to NOT permanently injure their opponent. Some of those moves look absolutely vicious and excessively violent. But there they are, the following week like it never happened. They understand that all their co-workers are there to make a living. Provide for their family's. The difference is, football players are trained at an extremely early age, to destroy their opponent. Take'm out no matter what. Hurt their target as to get them out of the game. This mentality has ended careers for some players. How much pride as a player, as a person, can you possibly have, knowingly dispensing a game ending or career ending hit.
That first one was so unnecessary. Like the dude can clearly see, before hitting that he was gonna come down with the ball especially since his teammate was right there. Dirty play. Dangerous as hell.
im a packers fan and man... our star reciever davante adams got hit that hard and it scared me because i thought he was hurt but he got back up and shook it off.
I've got to wonder, in contrast to other contact sports, if the armour and helmets actually make it more dangerous at times, as opposed to rules and pllaystyle that are used to protect players from serious injury. It seems really common to use their bodies as a missile weapon, especially their own helmets, and targeting the legs, back, or head is still common, even by accident all whilst a conventional tackle would suffice. It's a weird sport sometimes for that.
@Mark L guys were tougher back then, alot tougher. Plus they were used to getting layed out, their bodies prepare for it unlike the guys today. I think alot of players pretend to be injured today to. Not to mention they don't know how to tackle so awkward tackles to avoid breaking the rules injure knees, ankles, backs etc.
You may be right. Back about 90 years ago, they hardly wore any padding of any kind, and only wore leather helmets, if they wore them at all. And the injury rates were not nearly as high, or as serious as they are now.
Cris Collinsworth is such a company man. The very first clip he says the hit is late and right to the head. It wasn't late and he hit the receiver in the chest.
Second season in a row Mahomes has gotten up from a hit walking like a boxer that just got up after a knockout and the NFL still pranced him out there all in the name of ratings.
I know the intentions are good, but I really hate it when players try to pick up somebody after a hard hit. It would be really bad if they had a back or neck injury. Mahomes getting hurt is a good example. Let him lay there and allow the medical staff to evaluate and help.
the ones that scare me the most are the ones where they get hit, go down, and there's no one home. They are COMPLETELY out cold. Those scare me the most.
