But they kinda are treated like a stereotype anyways. They were given one push because people asked for it. Kofi Kingston had to wait over a decade to get a 6 month reign. They treated his reign like it was meaningless especially after how they made him look against Brock Lesnar. The Jordan Myles situation didn't help either. Trust WWE doesn't really push an African American performer to the moon. They pushed one African American to the top belt, they half-assed Bobby Lashley push, they have 2 African American performers who gained the top prize in NXT (Big E & Ember Moon), Sasha, Bayley, Alicia Fox, Jazz and Jacqueline were the only African American women who they put the title on. Excluding Nia Jax (Polynesian) is where they haven't really pushed a minority to it's top belt. Booker T is a 2-time HOF and never got a shot at the company's top prize. The last 30 years, WWE has had one African American champion (Kingston) because of Mustafa Ali injury. They were planning on Owens to win at Mania over Bryan. So his reign was accidental. The Rock is mostly Polynesian with some African American. Ron Simmons, Jay Lethal, Ron Killings, Bobby Lashley and Kingston are the only ones that broke through on a "major" promotion it's top prize. 5 in 30 years. 1 in WWE. That tells you how they view them as a draw

The thing about stereotypes in regard to black people in the USA is that such stereotypes was form to de-humanized black people, in general, in order to justify enslavement and later on the unfair treatment of black people under Jim Crows era up until the current day. Literately anything a black person did was frame in a negative way and thus while the New Day are being themselves, they can still fit into a black stereotype because negative black stereotypes are so board it is ridiculous. The most sad thing about this issue is you have other black people that buy into such stereotypes to the point that they are willing to try to enforce such stereotypes on other black people. The most important thing is New Day are being themselves and not having someone dictate to them how they should act based on an outsiders standpoint or they having the need to act a certain way to get over (like cryme tyme). JTG touch on how Cryme Tyme came about and it was something that he was against doing at first (as he was clearly aware that Cryme Tyme was play on the black hood gangsta stereotype) , but went along with because his career was not going anywhere during that time. While I have my issues with the WWE, the Cryme Tyme gimmick was something black wrestlers pitch to the WWE and not something WWE officials went to them with.

The New Day is black? 😱 what is considered black these days? These guys are highly intelligent & speak correctly. I don’t consider them black. They have dark skin that’s all.

They've been a stereotype since the group formed. Vince builds all black wrestlers very samey. Either they are gangsters/ex cons, dancing goofballs or "this guy is an athlete." or big and buff but despite this always lose. Ezekiel Jackson was a prime example of good look but absolutely no character.

Why can’t y’all be just “wrestlers” why does it have to be a “black wrestler”or “white wrestler” a lot of a wrestlers career is based on if they’re character is popular and if your character makes wwe money Dwayne the rock Johnson is African American/Samoan he clearly had a great career stop making excuses

But then again, look at Naomi ... or Ember Moon .... like, how many times do they have to steal the spotlight in matches before finally being at the top of the division ? Also, I don‘t remember two female minorities being champion at the same time in the WWE. When Naomi lost the title at SS, Sasha won it (2017). Asuka was SD! champion but Ronda was RAW champion (2018/19). Sasha was RAW champion but Becky had the SD title (2016). It just seems suspicious, idk...

@UCWe3Cl8bl65zx7eFhaGgWiw You just want what you want to happen. That's not how a promotion makes money and never has been. They make money from pushing the biggest draws, not the ones who work the hardest. Thanks for proving my point that entitled people just stop working hard and still expect things to change for them. That's fine if people want to leave if they're not appreciated but Kofi and Naomi have stayed. If they were truly unhappy, they would have left already. It's just weird fans like you who try to vicariously live through the wrestlers. Stop acting entitled and outraged on their behalf. Plane malfunctions are a part of a traveling job. It's happened to wrestlers in the past and it'll happen in the future and it happens to everybody who flies enough. Randy Orton, a veteran, somebody who has earned the right to complain out of everybody that was there, wasn't complaining because he understands it's a part of the biz.
Caine Te Whare
Caine Te Whare Aylar önce
@Music b Stop acting entitled. Hard work isn't the only thing that makes you a champion in pro wrestling. Some people are bigger draws than others or have better mic skills and personality. You just sound like you think people should be handed things, especially if they're a minority. I literally bring up Cesaro and there's even guys like McIntyre who hasn't held a world title yet. Some people don't like grinding for something. People like that are complacent and don't work as hard as they think. McIntyre even says he doesn't understand why the wrestlers complain on social media. They're supposed to be professional and always work hard. He's not booked the greatest and he doesn't complain about it.

Caine Te Whare Kofi not winning the title was a crime as well and there was NO reason to not give him the title earlier (except they waited for exactly this moment this year but I doubt it). But you get it twisted because at the end of the day, you have to deliver. Of course everybody works hard but people who have been there longer and deliver more should be at the top. It‘s quite simple. That‘s why I don‘t get why a few people don‘t have title reigns already (and they coincidentally are not white)
Caine Te Whare
Caine Te Whare Aylar önce
@Music b Well they shouldn't. Complaining won't get them anywhere. They just need to keep persistent. Think of how long it took Kofi to get to the WWE Title. It's not like the other women don't work hard either.
Music b

Caine Te Whare Naomi and Ember have never really complained as well. But it‘s frustrating because you put in all that work for somebody else to take the spotlight.

@andrew clark I dont know, i never hated back in the day as a kid. But I always gravitated to all the black superstars like bobby lashley, shelton benjamin, booker t, but never cared much for cryme tyme. Watching it back now, you can see that is was way over the top buffoonery. how many black superstars have had a gimmick besides ultra athlete or thug. I only remember king booker and reverend dvon off the top of my head. Im just saying its good that black superstars are taking more creative risks and showing a range of personalities

The New Day, keeping racism alive and well. As long as you continue talking about it and continue to mention, reference and allude to being black as a personality trait and a special feature you possess, you continue allowing the ideas of racism to perpetuate. But I suppose that's what perpetual victims want. The gravy train stops when you're no longer a victim. Add another shovel of coal.
Music b
Music b Aylar önce
Johnny Eyeball As much as I hate to admit it, I agree. I do personally think that minorities are treated worse in many cases in the WWE (especially the women‘s division). But then again, I don‘t like the idea of pushing somebody BECAUSE they are black, asian, etc.... People like Naomi, Asuka and Ember Moon shouldn‘t be at the top of the division because they are minorities, but because they are just one of the most talented. But WWE giving Mandy, Lacey and Alexa more screentime makes it seem suspicious as to why the others are not being showcased like them. (Asuka and Kairi are finally doing pretty good now)

I love the New Day but with the twerkin and gyratin, they're essentially based on black archetypes; an image based on the slightly aggressive edge matched with the "power of positivity" aura they had in their rivalry with the Usos would definitely get them outta that archetype IMO.
