Just cause the dispatcher didn't say police were on their way diesnt mean she didn't send them out - she 100% sent police there. They send emergency services out as their talking on phone - they dont wait till the call ends to do it. Every second counts and i bet she was speaking calm and slowly to both not anger the intruder & to keep them on phone (so she would know if it escalates) as im sure your all aware all calls are recorded and make great evidence if it gets to court. She is a trained professional and deals with emergency calls everyday. She would've sensed something was off. Why would she intentionally anger an intruder who has a hostage? She also knew there was a good possibility she was on speaker phone - what hostage taker would allow someone to make a call without listening in? Paul is obviously trying not to anger the guy and we don't know what he said to the guy to let him call in first place or who he said he was ringing. He hardly said I'm ringing the police to come arrest/maybe shoot you. I'm getting a little off point here but to get back to my original reply - operators can multi task and are trained to deal with odd sounding calls.

@oopsibrokethecow there probably be some kind of notation that can pull up that if a call comes in from this number to contact Capital Police whom are probably much more knowlegable about the situation and can act quickly or provide police with instructions without agravating or escalating the actions of the intruder.

They do. This dispatcher knew exactly what was going on, where the call was coming from, and still dicked around for several minutes instead of actually sending help ASAP.

@stephanie marshall Wow, you act as if everyone has incredible hindsight. The cops went to do a wellness check. They legally can't enter a house unless allowed in by the owner or they know a crime is being committed. There was certainly not enough evidence on that 911 call to allow for a warrantless entry and Paul opening the door is not permission to enter. You seem to have no ability to put yourself in the situation without knowing the future. Police do wellness checks all the time and they don't involve a battering ram to the door and a crazy guy with a hammer.

@Tyler Gardner I had a guy walk into my house once a few years ago DTLA Guy walked right in I was loading equipment into my car in the dark drive way and thought I saw my roommate on the patio but it was too dark, but it still didn't feel right I went inside to see someone was in the restroom, I opened my roommates door to see he was in bed, I opened my door to see my girlfriend was in bed I woke my roommate up and asked who was in the bathroom We quickly realized no one knew him The guy walked right passed us, giving us a head nod, he had was clearly plastered He sat on the living room couch and tried to fall asleep We ended up talking very calmly to him and said to sit on the patio (which was gated) We ended up locking on the patio until police arrived It could have gone much worse, but the guy was so wasted we figured he had no idea what was going on and didn't press charges But yes we kept the tone calm to prevent unnecessary escalation

@Douglas Dubick I can’t argue with any of that. I guess I have a hard time believing anything is real. He would have ate a bullet when he stepped in the door if he refused to leave my house. It’s sad that the mentally ill and homeless are not important unless used as political pawns. My sympathy lies there.

With evidence and admission being the the biggest factors how an incident happened with Depape's statement last night to a television station it does appear he broke into the house. With his statements you will get no further argument from me.

As for Zulu, that is what Axon body cameras use for time zone and what the military uses and is held as an international time zone. They probably use that because the time stays constant and doesn't adjust to daylight savings time. It is also known as Universal Time Zone, but Zulu probably sounds cooler and only needs a Z after the time instead of UTC. Has nothing to do with Africa, lmao. They also use the 24 hour clock so it doesn't confuse people like you, but I guess you'd need to know why there is a 0 in front of the 9 first. The cops opened the door themselves which is a big legal no no so they had to doctor the video and remove the body of the officer opening the door. If you watch the edited video, the door seemingly opens by itself. They were not going to release the original video because it would damage the credibility of the police department.

Put your self in this gals shoes, she probably gets wrong calls, drunk calls, prank calls all the time. It would be extremely difficult to know what is going on. It's easy for us to sit back knowing the outcome to know exactly what she should have done. If I would have gotten this call, I would assume it was a drunk call and not sent the cops but this gal did the right thing. The cops showed up didn't they. Maybe she read the situation right and didn't want the attacker to know the cops were coming. I think she is a hero.
