We asked three unique and lovely centenarians what their most valuable life lessons were, and also their regrets.

The conversations that followed were remarkable. They talked about the importance of family, people, relationships and love. Their view on life, as an elderly citizen with a lot of experience is truly an inspiration and motivation. Enjoy the video! And please let us know what your thoughts are!

@Esteban Sandoval It's still sad that she outlived all of her children. We as parents aren't supposed to do that, but life happens. She has a wonderful outlook on life. God Bless her. This was 5 years ago. I wonder if they have all passed or are still with us.

@Yank ee No, we are not all the same. We don't all choose to cause the same degree of pain in our world. As a character in a movie once said, "Some are born to fail; others have it thrust upon them." While this was a pun, an idiom, I have nonetheless found it to be true. We are not all dealt an equal playing hand. We do not all possess the same character. We do all make mistakes, but it is quite another to literally piss away every opportunity that graced your life and could have been a blessing to others: that's me. I did that.

If I'm making a cake and it fails, i'm trying again with what've learned until i succeed. Im curious what that guy would do if he substitute failed cake with fail/burnt steak. Blended Steak Pudding/smoothie anyone?? I jk of course. I get it that the motto works for some.

I'm 79 living alone now. I lost my beautiful wife of 25 years 10 years ago when she was only 60. I've been through hell trying to cope with all the obvious things that come with such a devastating event, but I've gotten to know and help myself more and more as time goes on, erasing bad memories and loving the good ones. I know my wife is up there helping me , so I'm going for 105 like my Uncle Ed did! Great video, Thank you all. Stay HAPPY and live on! From Mike in Minnesota

@Val entina god wants people to pick their own paths and live their life. My whole family is Christian and what your spouting is absolute non sense you probably heard from other people instead of the actual Bible.. Your acting more like a cultists then a Christian. Yes, god exists, but no, we don't need to devote every part of our life to everything for him. He wants us to be happy and be free, if he didn't want that, is he really a good god? No he wouldn't, and god is good so ofc he would want us to be happy and have some freedom

@Dan Farrar @David Crandall bingo this is the point of a long life, compare your body to a brand new car , from the moment your born, the more work you put in a car the faster it will end in the junkyard, same thing with humans the more you make your body work by overfeeding your body, or eating all the processed food , lots of salt, sugar, fried food, dairy, meat , using alll these chemicals and inhaling by accident like perfumes, carbon monoxide, soap, detergent, even flouride in the toothpaste , paraben on soap and alluminum in most theodorants, that's not mentioning all the pesticide it's on all kinds of food and preservatives, all those bad things your body have to work hard to digest and also push out all those toxins ,decaying your organs faster than ever as they have to overwork to push all toxins out , making people sick very fast and leading to death some sooner than others,.. so the best secret to a long life is try not to make your body work as much as you can so you could preserve it for a long time like you preserve a car you value alot and of course do not stress because it also puts pressure on your body, have yourself a blessed long life🙏🏼.

Strange, because I'm in my mid 70's and I don't find the people around me of similar age to be all the much different than they were when I was younger. More experienced and less prone to buying into BS perhaps, and more feeble, but the same kinds of people have existed since I left home in the 60's. I think every generation goes through the same evolution, but each generation always thinks they are unique. Took me 70 years to figure that out. I'm slow.

Clifford is a sweetheart. I worked in care homes and most of the time the mentally fit ones couldn't walk anymore and the confused ones were light on their feet and ran away. I love how these people talk about they're grateful they did what they wanted and they talked about creating and thinking about fond memories. This is an eye opener, when we grow old, we'll have a lot of things to think about and we'll look at our past to evaluate ourselves and our lives. It brings them happiness for them to think about their loved ones and their memories. I love how they also get their food from their own gardens. With them eating fresh foods, living with positive optimism, enjoying and appreciating their hardships & joys & this is one of the reasons why they are able to extend their life span and live so long. It's great they mention marriages don't last long because people give up too easily.😊❤ I love their wisdom, I'm saving this video.

centerice 3 aylar önce
When I was a little boy nearly seven decades ago, children were taught that the respect of an old person was not only appropriate, but that their long life and amassed wisdom demanded it, and made it a sort of sacred thing; and that if one was guilty of disrespecting the elderly, they had committed a special sort of a sin, as though they'd broken a nearly Holy rule. To make fun of, or to belittle, an old person at the time I was a boy would have been unconscionable, and anyone who'd done it, would have been thought perhaps mentally ill, because there could have been no other explanation for such an unthinkable act. But alas...now Hollywood intentionally writes despicable "old people jokes" directly into their scripts and more times than not, the audience laughs unreservedly and unabashedly. This is the part that truly indicts our present society. Firstly, that when people laugh, they do so heartily and without embarrassment, and more fundamentally, that anyone would find humor in such crude dialog, at all! They can see nothing wrong with it! Oh dear. Unless society can see the transgression in this obvious disrespectful act, how can we ever expect it to see the light, and mend its ways in the other more difficult to correct areas of behavior? Has the ship drifted too far from the dock to bring it back? Can our society's behavior ever be truly civilized again? Just because we are now in the year 2022 and consider ourselves "enlightened, and civilized" does not mean that we are actually, either one, or that we are going forward as a species, for that matter. New gadgetry may advance our technology, but it does not advance our humanity.

@Prokkle That isn't new. In the 1960's, I thought I knew truths my parents did not. Took a while and an open mind to realize that was just youth speaking. My experiences might be different than theirs, but the truths they knew and I learned are much the same.

@USHGJDS “any adult close enough…” hehe. True.
USHGJDS 3 aylar önce
I agree! Born in 1984, raised by my great grandmother who was born in 1918. We were taught to respect the elderly lest we degrade ourselves and incur the wrath of God, and any adult close enough to administer corporal punishment.

Twelve-year-old child here. It saddens me deeply that there are "hip" TikTokers whom social media has afforded a large audience in my generation; not only have these influencers shown not even a bit of respect for the older people in our society, but they have also ridiculed anyone who opposes their trans-millennial - and, dare I say it, Lilliputian - ideology. Thankfully, not all of us are like that - my friends, for example, having been taught courtesy, understand that these "jokes" are both unreasonable and ignorant of the elderly's wisdom.
Prokkle 3 aylar önce
Yes, I see this disrespect in the many jokes about the Boomers made by younger people, who think that everything should be perfect for them, that they have somehow been cheated by their parents and grandparents, and that they are so much hipper and wiser than the old people.

@Leadblast At 38 u have just began life. The next 38 u become wiser. I am only 84 and still learning every day. I was so stupid at 38. Probably still got a lot to learn. Really at 38 I thought I was hot stuff. Then I got terminated..... I learned I had been blessed, not hot at all. Just worked harder than the others. Made many mistakes....

There's a great little paperback novel called Jordy, Bounce, and Lilli, that captures the flavor of the post WWII era through the lives of two small children and their cat. I know it's available on Amazon. I just finished my copy. ...Loved it.

It actually seems to make more sense to explain it as "people who are closer to death value increments of time that are smaller than one year." Children do this because they are only a few years old, and people over 100 do this because they are only a few years away from death. For both, smaller increments means more. It has nothing to do with choosing to have a childlike mentality as it does having to do with a natural response to a shift in perspective relating to one's mortality.

When children say halfs it's because they want to be older but when you're 102 and say halfs it's because they're proud they've made it to such a grand old age.x

That's a wonderful sentimental line yes so trued indeed. However, MANY people through out the world have horrific lives where they've had to suffer with hurt and pain mentally and physically most of their lives which this line and thought could never be applied to. I myself have many SAD memories and when I think of most of my past I always cry. I have regrets and always wonder that if I had made a different choice and maybe better choices would I be where I'm at today? So I'm sorry but this line/thought is wonderful for people who have lived wonderful positive lives and doesn't apply to the many thousands who have gone through hell and back or lived very sad lives without a choice in the matter. Still ... these people are an inspiration to all and my hat goes off to them. It's all in the kind of lives we are blessed with and how we lived it but most of all the GENES.

I just touched by everything they said. Immersely put myself in their shoes, imaging I could ever be ready to embrace those things. Am I ever be that lucky? And sending my regards to my grandparents both passed away already. Realzing myself do I consider my parents advice? It is an eye-opening video and everyone should watch it.

The intelligence surrounding these really well lived lives is of a similar culture. Even the Pharmacist knew and realized that intellect had been his only neglect. The cultural ethos was also something they all had in common. Being of service to others seemed to be a common thread, also, between them. Eric Sevareid once said: "all you need is: food, shelter, clothing and mental stimulation." He said it somewhere in a TV interview around Valentines Day 1974, as I recall but have not been able to locate.

My father in law passed away in his sleep last year 3 weeks before his 101st birthdsy. Kirk lived in his own home (with help from family), was independent and was his own man. He lived through the depression, flew supplies over the "hump" in WWII, was married for 62 years and raised two children. We miss him so much. ❤

John was adorable. He said that he was born "at an early age." lol. Sweet. What's so sad is that when you live to be that old and outlive your children? What's left but just you and your memories. It's not like you can start over again. I'd love to know what happened to these three now, this video being over 4 years old. What a blessing.
