It's finally here!!! The season finale breakdown of Last of Us "Look for the Light". Both Damon and I were a bit surprised by how short the episode was (only 43 minutes excluding trailers and intro).
This episode left us with a crazy debate on morality and the hypocrisy that is inherent in human nature. Amazing season overall, HBO you guys better not make us wait long than 18 months for season 2.

I wish we got a longer finale that's my only gripe. I feel like Marlene really underestimated the fact that Joel and Ellie bonded on this journey. She assumed that Joel would still be cold and un caring for Ellie. The Joel Marlene knew would never care for some teenage girl that wasn't his. Since she didn't think they were so close she over played her hand telling Joel the truth about what would happen to Ellie. Big mistake. Cant wait to see season 2 and maybe other future seasons of the Last of us coving part 2. Keep up the great work guys! I don't know what you guys will be covering after this but Id like to see more of your guys videos.

Yeah I do wish the gunfight scenes in the hospital were a little bit more intense. I get why they made it more muted, but I think it would've been cool to see a bit more. Good point on Marlene misreading the entire situation between Joel and Ellie. She had no idea about wha the two of them went through that led to them becoming so close. I'm gonna start covering the "Wednesday" series solo and Damon and I will do the "Warrior" series as well next.

@Winter Hill Warriors Thats awesome I have never seen those shows but honestly ill still watch your guys videos on them because maybe im missing something. You should consider checking out the new mandalorian episodes on your channel. (don't know if your a Star Wars fan) Another show I would love to see you guys talk about is Better call Saul/ Breaking bad if your a fan of them. If you haven't seen them you should check it out but I feel like most people have seen them by now. Better call Saul just finished up last august. Excited for future projects. Haven't seen Better Call Saul or Breaking Bad yet, but those will definitely be on the list. Same for Mando. Right now I'm trying to find an editor because that's literally the biggest bottleneck for me lol! Once I get that going, the video output will be way higher

When Joel first told Ellie about the bullet scar, that some 'guy' shot @ him & missed (followed by his own shot missing, also) he then says "it happens alot more than you think/know" which we assumed was missing your targets.. but idk, after learning that it was Joel himself who was meaning to take his own life, was he really saying "people make failed attempts at committing suicide" is something that "happens alot more than you think/know"... Idk, have to rewatch that bit again.. thx 💜

I absolutely LOVED this episode, and I’m with Joel all the way. I would have taken out the nurses, too! My husband agreed with y’all that said Marlene misjudged how much Joel had come to love Ellie or she wouldn’t have explained any of it to him. I’m glad she did so he could do what he did, though.

Yeah Marlene completely misjudged the situation. For the two of them to even survive the journey west, they must've gone through some crazy stuff which would naturally bring them much closer. You don't survive that trip without building a super strong bond

@15:00 one of y'all ask "why is Marlene is even telling Joel what's in-store for Ellie?" Because, by reputation as well as by personal experience the only "Joel" that Marlene has ever known is the guy that refers to Ellie as "cargo" the Joel that is nothing but an ice cold, pragmatic SOB. The Joel that didn't miss a beat & kept walking away, never looking back after Tess died...

2:07 It is a real baby! They used a set of twins, often done in Hollywood, and mentioned the little girl was a much better “actor” haha. The little boy just sat there apparently. You should listen to the official HBO podcast- it’s hosted by Troy Baker!

@18:15 The Doctor w the scalpel thinks he's calling Joel's bluff (not a bluff) bc there's a real chance that Joel is holding that useless rifle as a prop, bc he's all out of ammunition. To borrow a phrase; "it happens more often than you'd think"

I think Joel had switched to a hand gun at that point. He drops the rifle and grabs a hang gun from a dead Firefly and kills the doctor with it. Maybe the doc thought it was a bluff but I think he just was down for the cause and reacted that way
