@MugenTJ No I don't think it was fixed at all. Yes people generally always want to keep making money, but most people have certain values they won't violate. I'm not saying it'll never happen, there just needs to be real evidence to claim it is happening. "Imagine you allow people to place correct bet consistently, their business will lose Billions." I really don't know where you got the impression that FIFA makes or loses money base on bets. Usually third parties deal with betting, and they take the odds of certain teams winning into account. If you bet on the favorite, you get a much smaller return than if you successfully bet on the underdog. That's how you make it a profitable business, and that's how it's done in all sports as far as I know.
You really got to hand it to Costa Rica. Under pressure the whole game and making that surprise goal at the end. Feels the same as the Germany Japan game except now Japan is on the receiving end. Well played!
@The Mastermind Japan defeated Spain. You should cry for Costa Rica. If Costa Rica entered the 16 round, there would be boring World Cup. None of them can enter 16 round by lucky.
@Muse Ahmed Have you even watch the games? The players that contributed for the Germany victory were the same players for this match. And they all subbed in after 1st half.
@Serox M. Chile is not a third world country 👉 Chile is a developing country with a high-income economy and ranks 42nd in the Human Development Index. It is among the most economically and socially stable nations in South America, leading Latin America in rankings of competitiveness, per capita income, globalization, state of peace, and economic freedom. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chile
Japanese here. First of all, congrats to Cost Rica and they deserve the win. At the same time, so disappointed and hard to believe why Japan manager didn't use the best squad in this game. The whole country was doubt about the manager's ability past 4 years but I guess everyone was right. But again, great performance Costa Rica 🇨🇷 👏
Wow, I'm so shocked about this win, I really thought Japan would have this in the bag! Good game from both teams 👏 Costa Rica should be proud. Congrats!
More like brilliant coaching vs Germany & most stupid coaching vs Costa Rica on playing for a draw hoping to win in 2nd half when they should be going all out full 90". Even a draw would be a bad result (since their last game would be Spain), and they came in the game having a very reserve mentality when this could have been their best result ever during group phase. And it was Yoshida fault also playing a stupid high ball pass at the back for no reason.
Honduran here , wishing the best to Costa Rica 🇨🇷, I feel so proud 🫶🏻of this guys and it hurts me when they suffer 😢, but let’s go Costa Rica 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🗣️🗣️🎉🎉
Even the highlights start from second half 🤣🤣 Because it was cynically obvious Japan didn't even try in the first half thinking they would just go hard for 15 min in the second half, take the win and keep everyone fresh for match against Spain. That is so disrespectful towards the opponent and simply a foolish tactic. Japan fully deserved the loss. Congrats to Costa Rica for bouncing back.

Just being in a World Cup is a great accomplishment. Costa Rica is trying to come back after a devastating loss. We are in the group of death once again.
Japan pretty much lost it by not starting either of Kubo, Minamino, Ito, Mitoma, or Asano. They again did nothing in the first half and left the job for the second half. The manager is to blame for this loss with such a talented squad.
It's great to see Costa Rica represent the CONCACAF zone well and get its first victory in this WC. The moral of the story is, you should not take any game for granted --- ALWAYS field your best team in a tournament like this. The World Cup is not a tournament where you field a team, leaving out your 5 best players as if you're playing an international 'Friendly' where there are no consequences for losing.
@Joseph Ortiz Even the good teams get blown out every now and then. Remember Brazil losing 7-1 to Germany in the semis? Is Brazil a bad national team because of that one game? No.
@Hitler Senpai - You guys are taking this harmless comment much too seriously. Who knew you emotional lightweights would be so easily triggered by a comment merely congratulating a weak team on securing a victory. And the irony is, I despise the Costa Rican team. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😈
@jose chamu - You mean like Brazil’s 7-1 defeat in a recent World Cup back in 2014? And followed by another humiliating loss in the following game? 👀🤦🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏽♂️

One of the most exciting goals to the World Cup to me because of how the play developed and the fact that Costa Rica won after losing their first game by 7-0 and then Japan beating Germany but losing to Costa Rica
@Vu Nguyen Spain is out, they are good with ball control but ever since Fernando Torres, they didn’t have a true striker. Morato is good striker but he doesn’t have that killer instinct that true strikers have. Brazil or France it is, but cannot count England out. They do sometimes are able to spring a surprise .
@Vu Nguyen France has a few players who are true strikers, even Greizmann is a striker besides Giroud. Brazil is another level, I would put them one up over France in terms of attacking ability. Anyways Neymar is not a true striker. He is more of a play maker like Messi. Team having a true striker puts lot of pressure on the opponent teams defense. The defense tends to make lot of mistakes due to pressure and that by default puts the other team in advantageous position. Anyways let’s see how it goes, this World Cup is unpredictable, with African teams doing great.
Wow that goal by Costa Rica! That moment when he jumped is what life is about! The joy. Japan worked very hard. Great game. Congratulations to both for being good teams.
Pura Vida!!! After getting destroy by Spain they had the guts to show they can play and get a good result and being the first team to win a game out the CONCACAF in this crazy World Cup.
Don’t know much about football (first World Cup I’ve watched in a while.) But it seems to me that Japans manager took a gamble with the lineup and it didn’t pay off. Great game from Costa Rica still!
@Joe Reality If Japan show that timidity you're talking about today against Spain, they may end up packing and going home early, because my bet is that Germany will be throwing the kitchen sink at it when they face off against Costa Rica.
@Ahmed M. H. IBRAHIM maybe, but his team played even more timidly than Costa Rica. We literally saw Costa Rica regain confidence throughout the match while Japan didn't ride any momentum after beating Germany in the first half.
@SC Some people may call it arrogance as well. I really have no idea what Japan's coach was thinking. Maybe he wanted to try new players to help them gain confidence. Maybe he looked down upon Costa Rica after their loss to Spain. Who knows?
Wow! What a missed opportunity for Japan. From chance of going into next round after just two games and now facing potential elimination. Nice job guys! 🤣
Not gonna lie, earlying morning and I shed a couple tears, the sweet taste of a goal, and then the victory, Costa Rica gets a taste of redemption, well done. There's a reason they're here, and they made that clear.
This highlight video is full of attacks by Japan except one by Costa Rica, which turns into the only and the last goal in this match. This world cup is so unpredictable and that's why I love watching games!
¡Pura Vida! 🇨🇷 🎉 Born in the USA, but my mother’s side of the family are Proud Ticos (as Am I today!!).. The Group of Death always brings out the best from this nation
@krabs18 time and unexpected events overtake everyone at some point. They might wake up on day and be unable to play as well as they usually do. Or they might face some team that block them very well after studying their strategies meticulously.
@Lv100togepi they have really good players (individually) and so a good team (on paper) but it doesn’t mean that much anymore. Matter of fact, we all saw how difficult it was for them to win against Serbia last time and with only two goals. 4 years ago, the hype was the same around their team but, they didn’t lift that trophy. So… 🤷🏿♂️

If Costa Rica is tie with Germany with a score of 0:0 and Spain beats Japan, Costa Rica advances to the next round with one goal gain and seven goals conceded. What an economy.
amazing the goal that went passed the goal keeper! the japanese goal keeper gave it his all in flying and extending his body and arms full speed and strength, barely touching the ball that then swirled into the net inside. this goal only happened due to a mistake by the japanese players who chose to kick the ball high in the air in passing it to a fellow team mate instead of kicking it far away from their team's camp. hence one bad judgment decided the entire game as japan was unable to score despite the fact that it pressured team costa rica for the entire game. japan should have won this game. the missed many opportunities due to bad passes. they have to improve their passes. otherwise a great game played in highlights. the video is short but good and long enough to capture all the exciting excellent moments. costa rica did not shined in this game. i say costa rica was very lucky that it survived. it is incredible how the japanese players easily penetrated costa rican's field and made all the threats for the duration of the game. if the game had 15 or 20 minutes more, i am sure that japan would have scored and even things out. i am a firm believer that soccer is not meant to be played within 90 minutes, the time period is just too short, reducing the teams'' ability to make moves and to plan on winning or drawing. two periods each of 60 minutes is a more adequate time frame within which to play soccer, considering the game involves a long field also and the number of players involved. thanks
Congratulations to Costa Rica , Japan muffed all their chances , controlled the game but all of that doesn’t win the game . Costa Rico kept on trying and was rewarded by a great attempt from no.4. See a simple poor play can cost the team the whole game .I was also very happy 😊to see Costa Rica,s Campbell still playing and trying very hard , one of my favorites for years . Hard work means trying hard ❤.
@Anth C Stop making excuses for Japan. They got beat clean and square. I'm sure the Japanese coach know his best players better than you. The game to seat your best players is the 3rd one after advancing to the knockout stages not the 2nd consequential game.
Same thing happened with the Germany vs Japan game. Germany also muffed up all their scoring chances after dominating possession nearly 80% to Japan's 20%.
The Japanese manager sat much of the better players… he underestimated CR, a weak Concacaf team!…. But his offense had no punch, and had a bad defensive lapse that produced the goal for CR.
Coming off a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Spain, Navas somehow manages to record a clean sheet to save Costa Rica. What a crazy World Cup and a gutsy performance by the keeer despite the intense level of pressure applied by the Japanese side. It will be interesting to see which teams end up making it out of the group stage, because, if there is one thing we've learned from this World Cup, it is to expect the unexpected.
What an upset by Los Ticos! Ask any Costa Rican and they'll tell you that this team was just fortunate to be there. Panama had several opportunities to get the last spot in Concacaf. CR was outplayed for the majority of their qualifying matches as well. 👏
Oh man those last 80 minutes Japan really was so close 😭 I’m so surprised by how good the Japanese team is in both offense and defense. I’m hoping that more Japanese national team players to get picked up by European leagues
@Taller Warrior12 It isn't even about "doubting" or underestimating your opponent at all. In fact they think too highly of Costa Rica playing for a draw & not playing for their best players. If I were giving you a choice of all out versus Costa Rica or all out versus Spain, which one would you choose the chance of success being higher? The fact now Germany got a draw with Spain, now Japan must win the last match to go through and good luck with that. What a stupid coach ruined Japan chance for last 16.
I adore her and the fact that she outright just states “I’m a very privileged Girl” was just the sweetest thing, she really is, seems very very down to earth and simply real.
That error by #13 at 2:28 was costly. This highlight video shows Japan had control of the ball for most of the game, it seems. Japan no doubt had plenty of chances. Coming from a win against Germany, this is truly heartbreaking.
@le_blitz Agreed. Japan is going to lose to Spain. If upsets happen so often, they wouldn't be called upsets. I hear the Japanese fans are blaming the coach.
Kudos to Costa Rica , well played. No lie was backing Japan here, just goes to show, you just never know in this game ! Still backing Japan to make it through!
Japan threw their big chance in the garbage by losing this match!…. The manager sat much of his better players, because he underestimated CR….his offense had no punch, and the defensive lapse cost them a goal….. very poor managing!
The biggest mistake of the Japanese team was letting Gonda instead of Schmidt be the goalkeeper. There's no way Schmidt would've let that ball go in with his longer reach. Goalkeepers need to be tall for a reason!
Man! I’m Rooting for Japan all the way. So far, they’re playing a well skilled game if you ask me. No aggressions just professionalism. Since African teams aren’t doing so well. Then Asian country it is. Great game Japan. More wins next.
@Just EzI’m actually rooting for an African team and an Asian team to win this year. However, without being partial, I think Japan and South Korea are playing a better game than the remaining African teams. So far Senegal has done well and I think Tunisia is also doing well. But judging by play I think the Asian teams are more better and tactical not rough etc. While soccer game is very unpredictable and especially this year there’s been so many surprises…….We just never know right? We keep watching.
There are still African teams in the tournament and they all have a chance to move on to the to the next stage, why would you support Japan all the way??? Lol
The first half must have been abysmal since there isn't one highlight from it! Looks like Costa Rica were quite lucky to win this one. Japan must be devastated, especially knowing they finish with Spain. Somewhere, Germans are smiling.
For the most of the game, Japan was dominating. It was a similar to the Japan vs Germany game. It's a come back of the underdogs. It's not about how many Premire League players you have in your team, it's about rising to the occasion for your country.
Honduran here , wishing the best to Costa Rica 🇨🇷, I feel so proud 🫶🏻of this guys and it hurts me when they suffer 😢, but let’s go Costa Rica 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🗣️🗣️🎉🎉
