@Shaun M Jordan didn't get nearly as high as Morant. He was at the bottom of the backboard. Yes he held onto the ball, but he might not have been able to if it was as high as the square and his head was hitting the backboard. Morant's was better here and I watched MJ's whole career.
It's not amazing. It's what he was SUPPOSED to do. He's in the league. Did you think he was supposed to stand there and celebrate in the middle of the game? smh
@Shaun M Jordan literally was a foot lower when he caught it lol. Ja was 11' 4" high and Jordan was 10'4" high and this wasn't even the apex of his jump
@Jordan Hamilton you're a liar 😂😂 almost no one can jump that high stationary. At the the combine they test running and stationary vertical. The higher one is usally the running vertical. The stationary is usually a lot lower. Almost no one can jump that high from a standstill. They always go with the higher one (usually running) Only the NFL goes with stand still verticals.
@Jordan Hamilton Lebron is taller so ofc he can reach higher. The point is Lebron couldnt do what Ja did at any age because he lacks vertical off two feet. He's always been a one footed jumper. All his chase downs are off one
@Cordinho exactly. So young to get injured and just going towards his peak. Luka has the potential to be one of the greatest 22 year old.. Magic Johnson's rookie finals MVP could qualify, he was 20. Kareem and MJ had great seasons at age 22. MJ already had a gold medal at the Olympics, lead his team in 4 of the 5 major statistical categories and had better numbers (it's more than just numbers, I know) than Kobe's MVP season..
@TheRELLDon There can never be another Derrick Rose” “I definitely see the comparisons, but D-Rose is one of a kind and one special player and you can see the similarities, sure, but there can never be another Derrick Rose,” Morant said. 2021 in November, he’s like him but not better, you just white knighting his tip
Saw this live, the collective gasps and then the stunned silence. People shouting "WHAT THE F###!" myself included. I saw LeBron's Christmas day ally oop dunk with his off hand back in 2013 and this was incredibly more perplexing. Like how tf did this dude get up that high!?!?
I have been watching NBA basketball for 30 years, and that might be the greatest block I have ever seen. What's more, he blocked it TO HIMSELF, ON PURPOSE.
I have been watching basketball for almost 40 years. This was a great, athletic and visually ascetic block but by no means the greatest. He had a free run and it was easy to anticipate precisely where the ball would be as the offensive player boxed himself into only this exact shot with the contested layup. This was more a case of everything falling into place for a spectacular block rather than an incredible defensive play. Just my opinion though:)
Amazing block and Morant had both hands up there! I had to look at it a few times to make sure it wasn't goaltending but he caught it while it was still going up. Wow, that man has springs in his legs!
@Jeremy Fuller Ja literally caught it until he hit the backboard a foot higher than Jordan lmao. Age doesn't really matter when we're discussing the play. Plus him being able to recover the ball so easily makes the play pretty impressive too. That's crazy hand eye coordination and body control to go from landing to recovering the ball in one motion
@Oh Ish Waddup nigga tf i look like not being honest with my self? It's not a better block because he's Jordan. It's a better block cuz he was old and caught it
@Jeremy Fuller and? It doesn't make it better than Ja's when he's 4" shorter than Jordan and still wasn't at his apex. Jordan is the GOAT but ur allowed to admit when someone outdid him at something
@Jeremy Fuller Ja got a foot higher than Jordan and wasn't even at the apex of us jump while being 4 inches shorter. He would've grabbed it but you know he hit his face on the backboard lol. And he still recovered it easy even if he didn't grab it in one motion
Most important difference between this and others that do chase downs is that Morant kept the ball in play and kept control of the ball. Incredible two handed rub.
After looking at this idk how many times, I’ve figured out why Westbrook jumped….he was about to put it back. You could see his “WTF?!” face coming down.
That was crazy! That was almost as amazing when no Jackson robbed dude for the home run jumped put one foot on the wall caught it and in 1 throw threw it all the way to home plate and gunned the guy out at home!
Have to love that Russ is the one behind the play watching this happen. Him and DRose may be the only other players that size that could make a play like this in their prime.
