@Nick H I. He didn't make it. 2. He doesn't deserve to be in the squad. The game is teamwork. See the contrast with Italy's goal. These days players are too full of themselves, products of poor football upbringing by the likes of Cristiano.
I want to like the guy, he is big and mean. But his passing out from the back can be questionable. I miss playing soccer. I was comfortable anywhere on the backline, but I hit my growth spurt much later than my peers. Sad face.
McGuire put in such an amazing performance that people aren’t even talking about Grealish 😂😂 Edit: Okay I get it, I typed McGuire instead of Maguire. Seems like a somewhat reasonable mistake that one might make, but I guess a lot of people don’t feel that way. I apologize for my ignorance/worthlessness/ horribleness.
He tried to hit that with the outside of his foot too. Whether intentional or not, that made no sense. Easy one off the laces, back of the net, 3-0 at halftime - game, set, match
This game was a tale of two halves for sure. England was dominant in the first half while Italy was stale, but the Azzurri did a whole 180 and showed tremendous heart in the second half. It wasn’t enough for them in the end but a dramatic game for both sides, especially for a qualifier. I don’t think 5 added minutes was enough at the end of 90 but it is what it is. On to the next one.
What's really striking of this game, it's the ongoing stubborness of the Italian technical direction. Italy has to go back to its roots... Strong defense on the first third of the field, with fluid and fast offensive reaction. Never forget: it's not how much you possess the ball, but what you do with it when you have it.
@Manny Yard bro he missed one penalty why do y’all judge whole players by one moment. Just bc terry for example missed a penalty at the biggest stage doesnt effect his composure and brilliance through his career
McGuire gotta McGuire everytime. Gives away the ball for the goal. Stays on the ground leaving a defensive gap that leads to Shaw's red card. You think this was a conspiracy against him but it literally happens all the time
@Davide Ghersoni I root for Spain Argentina and El Salvador so I’m good w England losing. Hopefully Kane leaves us and gets some club trophies he deserves it
It’s really crazy how many wins that haven’t happened in forever are happening now, England beating Italy away hasn’t happened in 62 years, and Belgium beating Germany hasn’t happened since 1954.
England national team has far superior number of talented players to Italy. Having Jorginho still on the roster defies logic and to having him on the starting eleven is masochistic. I suspect Italy will not make it to the European cup.
i will never forgive Jorginho. yes its a team sport but Italys instant downfall after winning euros is all on him imo. Had we gotten to Qatar like we should have it would have been such moral booster and testament to the nation in sport. And they would of been riding on a high. Could have been them v Argentina final…yet we never got the chance cuz of 2 missed pks +4 points.
Much bigger concern is in the attack. Still no top class, nevermind world class forward. Italy’s best 10 is Pellegrini, who is Europa League level. The only world class Italian attacker is Chiesa, but he’s injury prone.
Really good win that but i just don’t get Southgates obsession with maguire and phillips. I feel bad for the players that play regularly for their clubs. I rate phillips but come on, he played more minutes against Italy then he has all season for Man City. Maguire does well for England to be fair but his Man U mistakes now showing up for England. Oh and i really think Gnonto will be great player for Italy.
Southgate picks his team based on the same players that do well for HIM and him alone. It's called a settled team. Settled teams that do well are rarely changed in football. You're welcome!
@Gerardo Arias kane is the only player in the world who will get hate for scoring goals, if his name was kaninho people like you would have him in the ballon dor debate
@Xavier lol I’m not giving no hate bro I’m just putting it out there that I haven’t seen him score open play goals in a while. He’s a great player. Carries Tottenham On his back and deserves better to be honest.
@Uli mate, you hHe zero idea what you are talking about. The entire back line was different and never played those 4 players at the Euros. Florenzi, Mancini, Bastoni and Emerson played against Macedonia. The euros had Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Chiellini, and Spinazzola nearly every game until Spinazzola was injured. Also take notes that Italy lost one game and didn’t qualify for the WC. Meanwhile many teams from Africa, South and North America qualify while losing multiple games. While Europe has the most teams that qualify from any region to a WC it is incredibly difficult to qualify.
Maguire was known for this and nobody listened. But that Grealish play was so unfortunate that I guarantee you they couldn’t care less about Maguire’s problem.
Retegui is actually from Argentina. Plays for Tigre. Curious how when Italy plays England in a stadium named after an Argentine only an Argentine scores against them
Yes! Unfortunately for him he chose the WRONG NT! Now he is commited to Italy for the rest of his professional career and he is only 23! If he would have been a bit more patient he would have received a call from Scaloni and his TRUE nation! Now it's too late and the way Italy played this game seems, they might miss another WC! Too bad for Retegui! Shouldn't have turned his back on his real country 🇦🇷
The problem with england is ince they go up, they immediately sit back and time waste. That will be there downfall. Italy was on the peddle in the 2nd half with numerous injuries to their squad
7 new players to the squad. Love that Mancini gives players a chance. Great time to check new talent. Still missing raspadori, chiesa, bastoni, dimarco, darmian , lucatelli and bellanova. a miracle Barella showed up. The Italy squad is actually stacked. Today was just for practice. But wow some of the new talent can possibly be good. Honestly if England looked shaky twords this squad. You don’t want the others to return. It would be Di lorezo, bastoni, ,, dimarco, and spinzzola. In defense. Then bellanova, tonali, Barella, and politano mid, then would be raspadori and chiesa up top. Then Verrati, Jorginho, darmian, berardi, and lucatelli on the bench. That squad would be frightening.
well, it had to happen some day, as England i trust never before beat Italy in an official game on its turf(and generally only beat it once, in World cup-78 quals). good game by England but Italy seemed anemic in first half. by the way, i heard this stadium in Naples is considered unlucky for the azzurra
Italy needs a new coach. It's a harmless team with Mancini. In the first half they were just horrible, and in the second half aside from the goal, they rarely shot on goal. Italy will have a hard time qualifying to the Euro if they keep Mancini. He's got to go.
Goood luck . The team got to where they are because of Mancini this is worse Italian team in my lifetime talent wise . They ain’t going to get much better. And they play more attacking football than previous teams. They also only lost one game in 40 matches . There is a reason why the kept Mancini after failing to qualify for the World Cup. Give Mancini this England team and he will win the World Cup.
I don’t understand how Tolói started?? Acerbi is slow but has experience. With 4-3-3 I predicted Donnarumma, Di Lorenzo, Scalvini, Romagnoli, Spinazzola, Verratti, Tonali, Pellegrini, Gnonto, Scamacca, Berardi. I hope to see something more like this against Malta. We need to get going forward. Jorginho needs to go, we have too many talented midfielders that can play over him. Bonucci, Dimarco, Chiesa and now Barella are injured. Sucky situation.
@The pasta man bro last Euros we were nearly unbeatable. Bonucci and Chiellini were monsters. Spinazzola was a cheat code overlapping Insigne who would cut in. Locatelli was on fire. Verratti was running the engine room and Barella was full of stamina. Chiesa was great! We were a United team!
@Jin If you came to that conclusion watch another sport. The rule is dumb not the decision. Part of the rule is that it has to prevent a goal scoring opportunity. It would've hits Kanes hand therefore not a goal scoring opportunity. According to your logic if an Italian had a handball in the England box then England might even countered and scored and should therefore get a pen.
@Mason Pierce oh my bad I thought you meant that the decision was dumb. I totally agree with the fact that the current handball rules are dumb, apologies
Agreed. The defender tries to head the ball, so he’s in a jumping position, on his way dow, it hits his arm. - and then keane’s chest. I guess he has to chop off his hands just to be safe next time
@Kevin Emilio Vlogs Let's not get carried away. Yes Italy has a rich football history, but they have been inconsistent the last several years. Yes they won the Euros, but it was against England 😁😁😁.
Broooo that Italy goal was insane....first a masterclass in passing brought to you by lord Maguire, next a tutorial on being super slow into a tackle brought to you once again by lord Maguire & finally to wrap it up a tutorial on how to loose the ball, defend poorly, & not try to run back into position leaving his partner on an island. Lmaooo Masterclass through & through.
That penalty call from the ref was really generous..Italian player receives the ball on his hand without even looking at it, he extends his arm as to not land on Kane!!! Ridiculous.
Disagree. HORRIBLE play by DiLorenzo. Stupid, careless play to throw his arm out like that ESPECIALLY since he wasn't even looking but KNEW the ball was headed in that (general) direction. Not a natural place for his arm to be given the circumstances. While I'm an Azzurri, I'm also a 22-year referee and 100% that is a hand ball per the current considerations in IFAB.
@Giancarlo Ferrara As I said, I'm an Azzurri. Born in La Ciociaria (region in and around Frosinone)...and going back to Italy this summer for the 20th time and third straight year :-)
I have only been able to watch this TRvid highlight. But what happened in the second half? Come on Lions, you are built to attack! Do not relent! (And yes. I know it's Italy in Napoli...)
Why don't you post highlights for other games as well? There's been a lot of other exciting matches too but you always pick the same countries in the highlights
Southgate has to go. his team selection is just absurd. Pickford should not be starting when his club is about to be relegated and Ramsdale and Pope are both playing amazing on top teams. Maguire still starting when he doesn't even play for United at all over someone like Ben White is crazy. and the same for Kalvin Phillips who doesn't play for City at all but starts over someone like Foden. his negative tactics and terrible selections will prevent England from having any success with their current generation of players, which might be the best they've ever had.
how come y'all never show replies of big instances like double yellows? I don't wanna see a close up of the ref showing the card, I wanna see the foul!
