I can tell you first hand, I grew up in Sharpstown most of my life, where he started out. I remember his tiny little shop in the run down corner of the failing Sharpstown shopping mall. That man deserves everything he has if he was able to survive under those harsh conditions of running a business in that empty mall. He literally came from very bottom. The theory behind training up employees as opposed to hiring veterans in the game, is that you can mould a new employee to your ways and not have to deal with a veterans bad habits. People who have been doing a certain thing for a long amount of time seem to think that their way is the best way and are less likely to be open minded about new ways. And of course a veteran is going to require a lot more money for his salary, opposed to a rookie and that’s just smart business. It may cost a little bit of money to train a rookie but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than taking on a veteran.
I love the way it shows that beyond his superficial side.. he helps these workers by training them, "not just giving them money" and it shows .People 15 years working for him . That is the testament of how the guy has a soul in-spite of how materialistic the diamond industry can get.
