Ahhh we’ve been working on a revamped merch store for like 6 months now and can now offer new fun stuff! Embroidered items (hoodies and joggers, sticker sheets (with new Joob in space design), cropped hoodie/tee, and more comings soon at shopevanandkatelyn.com
Now Katelyn needs a red fuzzy velvet cup to match her nails and keyboard lol Also 100 layer resin cup, rainbow, different glitters, mica powder, alcohol ink, everything y'all have, rainbow gradient using spray paint, with another "hidden" decal with Jube ❤️
the "science adjacent" segment is a trip because it showcases not just the old house, but it also includes THE ORIGINAL GARAGE with the cupboards (in the song). Loved it. kinda wild how far y'all have come!!
Amazing job guys! My first tumbler was a dumpster fire compared to this one! The little pockets you were experiencing are called “fisheyes” and they happen where the resin is being repelled in tiny places. This can happen from fingerprints or oil in your skin from holding the tumbler, or even just small imperfections in the spray paint. Next time (we both know there will be a next time!) try wiping your cup down before each layer of resin with Isopropyl Alcohol or even Acetone. This will clean off any contaminants and help ensure a clean surface and help prevent fisheyes.
Definitely helps to sand between each layer. Also reduces clean up to plug the top during resin process (taping the inside rim works too.) There all kinds of option you can buy or make. I’ve used both wood and a piece of foam insulation board I already had cut to the inner, top diameter then a hole in the center for the pvc pipe. After all the resin cures, sanding the top rim is the easiest. I like to even sand about 1-2mm around the top off before the final resin coat to make sure the resin has a good, rough surface to grab onto and prevent the risk of separating/chipping off on that edge later. I’m also impatient so I use quick setting resin for the under layers and then use a regular archival resin with good UV protection for the final coat. 😊
This reminds me of the free coffee mug my grandma got from her eye surgeon when she had her cataracts removed. It was an eye that had a white film over it when it was cold, but when you poured hot liquid in it the film turned clear, and the full eye could be seen. I always called dibs on that one when we made coffee or hot chocolate. This is way cooler, though!
Evan, I've made resin tumblers, a second coat for chunky glitter definitely helps! So happy to see you guys finally make a tumbler. Your the reason I started using resin, I'm always really looking forward to seeing what you think of! 100 Layers of resin would be kinda crazy, and cool. I too have a lumpy cup, it's got about 6 Layers on it. It's a bit chunky.
@ElusiveEmmie Thank you for the quick response! Sorry I ran off too quick to see it. :) Alas, maybe a clear-drying spray adhesive would be a better option. Science adjacent time!
@Christopher Karr I have actually, the paint dried a little too fast for the glitter to stick, when the resin was applied the glitter started float in the resin. It was fun to watch. Putting on clear resin and pouring different glitter over and watching them blend for a galaxy effect is super mesmerizing
Ever tried applying the chonk glitter directly to wet clear-gloss spray coat? I'm wondering if that might reduce the resin layer thickness and improve the interaction with the liquid crystal element. As their clear-coat thickness went up, the thermal conduction/gradient went down.
For the 100 layered resin challenge, what if the resin slowly changed from the beginning of the rainbow to the end so when it gets cut it shows a gradient.
Katelyn's outfit from the sponsor spot was amazing. 🤣 Also for cleaning up the top, I'd have maybe tried some very fine abrasive instead of a knife? Sand the resin etc. off then polish the metal underneath.
It came out sooo cool! Great job you guys :D A little pro tip for the vinyl: peel the white backing away from the transfer tape (instead of peeling the transfer tape + design away from the white backing)--it's a bit easier that way to make sure that those small little details stick where you want them to!
@Steph Rogers Yes! My favourite hack for this has been using painter's tape (or masking tape). It doesn't stick to the vinyl as strong as transfer tape does, so it's such a breeze when you're trying to remove it. Even those tiny little pieces don't give me problems! It's been a total game changer, honestly.
This!! And maybe a less tacky transfer tape. Most regular adhesive vinyls need a medium tack. Specialty adhesives do like a high tack. Not sure which y’all use but it looked super tacky.
I love that it's one of the most replayed parts of the video because I feel like we were all like - "HOLD UP.. did she actually drink that?! Lemme go back a few seconds" :'D
Evan’s face got me. It’s perfect how you can pinpoint the exact moment when he realized it was the same container and for a second believed she was drinking paint. 😂
If you decide to do another one, I'd look into a tutorial from awhile back by Makers Gonna Learn. They tested a bunch of different ways to get the best results. I've tried it their way and I'm happier with it that way, rather than having resin all over the bottom of the cup. Or having to trim the top!
My mom and I also became addicted to custom tumbler making and now it's our fun side business! It's seriously so much fun! E&K did a great job on this!
I'm new to the channel, and must say. Going from the older videos to these, I adore the confidence and comfort you guys have achieved through all of this.
This cup is really cool! And i actually enjoy seeing you protecting your breath system with a ventilation system while working on these! So many people don't, and i cringe each time i see someone working indoors with resin without any protection
This project ended up so fantastic! And as always I just adore your editing. From the editing of the prank, over the suspense of near-sneezing, the fast cure idea Zelda jingle all the way to the "super careful guy". I laughed so much while watching a single video today xD
Love the mood ring effect on the cup. An easier way to clean the inside is a magic eraser and the acetone. Even the weak nail polisher remover acetone will work and won't risk messing up the out side. I've even used the strong acetone paper towels, foil, and zip lock back to strip resin off of cups.
I’m extremely unwell right now and can’t even look at my phone without blinding pain, but when I got the notification that a new video was out I fought through the pain and smiled. This has made my day, I love you guys so much you honestly make my little heart happy, keep crafting!

So awesome, love the design! Small tip with vinyl and transfer foil: turn it around, keep the transfer flat and peel the backing away, just like you pulled the transfer away from the tumbler. Small details still might want to not stick to the transfer, but generally this seems to help loads.
Y’all did a great job!! To smooth the cup out you have to sand in between resin layers. With glitter if find it a lot easier to use the tack it method, or just mod Podge it. You can also hit the resin with the heat gun to help smooth it out. For my 100 layer of resin idea. Make a geode. You can put a plastic glass from the dollar store on your turner and start layering from there. Start with glitter for the Crystal inards and then build out!! Once you are done you can slice and go. I would not recommend using UV resin. Maybe use quick cure resin in a warm room. Like with your studio lights. You can use a plastic champagne flute. You can just adapt the turner so it will fit. You can the take the heat gun to melt it just a little so the center of the geode won’t be perfectly round. Eventually it will be.
Oh man! That came out so good!!! So did the resin end up self leveling as it spun or did you have to finagle it a bit more? Thank you guys for sharing! I'm so excited to try this now.
I love watching your videos, it's exciting whenever you guys upload! I think how you guys interact with each other is adorable, your videos are a pleasant treat that leave me smiling inside. Thank you for sharing your creative ideas, because whenever an artist shares them it proceeds to inspire other creative minds too.😄👍
When Katelyn said "I already said you have the coolest cup" I died 🤣 her express. Your videos fill me with so much joy. I really hope I find my person one day as you all have so obviously found yours. I know this is parasocial but your dynamic as a couple is just as much the content as the rest of the planned content..it's what keeps me coming back for anything you guys ever release!

I would love to see a hundred layer resin marble or something where you start with a little bead and let it grow. Also honestly would love to see a hundred layer resin tumbler!
Awesome idea! Awesome execution! Awesome content! This was fun to watch, the prank was hilarious, and the ad was fantastic. Overall another great video!! 😁
The video itself is amazing, the editor's contributions make it incredible. Katelyn's P-P-P-Prank is FANTASTIC, Joobie's "I need to get away from this accident" made me lol! I think E&K's parents might be getting custom cups for Christmas this year...
For the 100 layers: use tape or something to extend the top edge of the cup, so you can sand it down from the top and reveal all the layers without trashing it?
Your cup is so cute! Did the supervisor approve? My hundred layer resin suggestion is to make a decorative square, maybe for a lamp, in which you put a layer of tissue paper between each layer. A gradient or rainbow or something would be fun, I'd like to see how the resin and the tissue paper interact and dry.
For fisheyes in the resin just sand it smooth and add a thin coating. Cleaning use isopropyl alcohol with a green scrub pad. Getting the outside wet with water will help protect against small drips. Good job on your first tumbler!
I'd like to see it with hot vs. cold liquids inside such as coffee and ice water and see the line level from where the drinks stop and go down as consumed. :)

Kind of reminds me of my childhood favourite cup which was a double-walled kind of snowglobe thing with glitter (it was Little Mermaid themed) I miss that cup.
I love sanding down my mixing cups after they're totally done (aka like 2/3 full lol) and the layers and glitter and whatnot are sooo cool to see, I wholly condone you guys doing a 100 layer cup and please please do starkly different colors or ombres/rainbows; the end effect will be so cool when it's cut or hey even use some tool to make divets down into it, like a hand holder space in the cup!!!
You welcome 🥰dear 💖! happy to meet you again I really appreciate you all for liking and commenting . can't do without you all 💖🥰 here is my gift of appreciation 🥰 kindly ( text me on Nicegram) to claim your prize 🏆🎁🎉..
100 layer idea: Make it look like a cake, maybe using some of that immitation cream stuff for icing. Then when you cut it, it can look like y'all just cut a slice out.
Yes!! I have a 100 layer resin cup shaped hole in my heart, please make that video! I think whatever colors you do you should make them half opacity so you can see through them. It’d probably create some crazy visual depth
So something that may have happened that made the resin coat all chunky (7:25) is it had a reaction to the spray paint. You should test to see! If it is the issue, perhaps you can find a clear coat that is compatible with the resin you use for future projects.
This is absolutely one of my favorite things y'all have made and if you sold them I'd definitely buy one even though I basically only drink from my 1 gal water jug...
I hate the ads usually, but I love how you guys do your own ads. I always watch them and pay attention because of how creative you are. Love the videos too of course.😂
I’m sure someone already explained this but those bumps/dips in the resin are called fisheyes. They’re usually caused by not allowing the spray paint to “gas off”. Although the paint feels dry to the touch after an hour or so, there are still chemical reactions happening, so it’s best to let it sit for at least eight hours before applying resin. The good news is that you did the right thing Evan: you just wait until the first layer of resin sets then add another layer of resin 😊 (Fisheyes can also be caused by the oils from your fingers if you touch the tumbler with your bare hands, but in this video it looks like they were caused by the spray paint ;)
Evan's expression when Katelyn drank the milk reminded me of the time my SO and I were leaving a restaurant and I was curious about the texture of a dessert so I picked up the fork on the leftovers and stabbed it - my SO thought I was going to eat the leftover dessert from another table haha
maybe making two tumblers at once for the resin layer concept? so that the lip of them both are connected so when you cut them free you see all the layers
Glad to see some improvement with the color changing crystals also I would love to see you put paint on the cup and spin it off at full speed to see what patterns are left
Just binged all the “mood ring” projects! PLEASE make something “Mood ring” for Joob! After seeing the little mood ring kitty paw print, I wanted to see more! You guys should make something that Joob can walk on, so you can see her little paw prints. It could also it could also double as a little mystery game of “how long has it been since Joob was here”.
Idea for 100 layers resin! You make two cups, one clear resin cup and one with different colours, in the end you cut both cups in half vertically and stick clear and colourful together! That way you can see the resin stripes through the clear! Would be kinda cool, and no more tumbler envy 😂🥰
