I've never seen a bowling ball with a hole (or multiple holes?) drilled into them. You didn't really touch into why they would drill holes if they could handle all of that internally.

How do bowling ball manufacturers stay in business? They are kinda hard to lose and nearly indestructable so don't really wear out. I didn't think there were that many hydraulic press channels crushing them for videos or explosives channels blowing them up.

I just want to take this opportunity to brag about how I once made a 7-10 Split. It didn't show up on the electronic display board, so I went to the office to get them to tweak it. I was never gonna pull that off again, so I wanted to make sure it was official! When he mentioned Nine Pin Bowling, I thought: "How do you make a triangle out of nine pins?" But then I figured they probably had them in a diamond formation (1,2,3,2,1, rather than the familiar 1,2,3,4). Having said that, maybe they went with 1,3,5 , but that would make it hard to get a strike, wouldn't it?

Years ago, at my office, we had a league bowler who seemed an absolute marvel to the uninitiated. There was a bowling alley across the street, and once in a while after work we'd all go over, ostensibly to bowl, but mostly to watch him. To his coworkers, he appeared as good or better than the pros on TV, and newcomers would always ask why he himself wasn't up on the screen. He'd laugh and explain how we were all bowling on a "house shot" - i.e., a recreational oil pattern - and that house shots were easier to score on. He said this was no secret, that most regular bowlers were aware of the difference between patterns used for customer play - even league play - and those used for pro play. He assured us that if he had to bowl on pro patterns, we'd soon see the difference between him and the pros. I think it was pretty classy of him to be honest. I'm afraid that if I had been he, I'd have been tempted to describe myself as an undiscovered Don Carter.

when the ball is first thrown it casts mass, as the spin velocity slows down the ball gains mass and grips more until it catches

Great episode on bowling. Do tennis next! There is soooo much to talk about with tennis in regards to spin and friction. In addition to topspin, tennis players routinely use backspin, side-spin, and spiral-spin as well. If you really want to have some fun, try explaining the physics of the kick serve. This is a serve in tennis where the ball curves through the air in one direction, dips down, and then when it hits the ground it bounces in the opposite direction!!! Then there's the different court surfaces, hardcourt, clay, and grass, and how each spin response to those. If the surface has more friction then topspin will make the ball kick up higher. Then for backspin the ball can react differently depending on it's incoming velocity. If a ball hit with backspin is slow (in the horizontal direction) then when it hits the ground it stops short and bounces higher, but... if a ball hit will backspin is traveling faster then it will skid and stay low. Tennis players know and use all of these spins and reactions off the court to their advantage . Pro tennis players are masters of spin and knowing the effects of spin on a ball. It's all part of the game. For more on the physics of tennis I recommend the book _The Physics and Technology of Tennis_ by Broady, Cross, and Lindsey, and the updated version _Technical Tennis: Racquets, Strings, Balls, Courts, Spin, and Bounce_ by Cross, and Lindsey.

I never learned how to spin the ball as you throw, I have always thrown the ball from the center, or almost center. Almost center, because a true center hit will cause a split. You want to hit that head pin, just off of head-on to send them all colliding/falling.

Interesting. I love ten pin bowling. It is pure recreation and a game for fun. Yet today, ten pin bowling is much stronger in technological development, marketing, game standards and the halls are at a high level. But nine pin is a better and harder game than ten pin bowling. It is a game that requires great concentration and strength. Sorry guys but I mean, you don’t know and you can’t play nine pin bowling so well. But every nin pin bowler in a very short time will be successful in a ten pin bowling game.

It's only a matter of time before someone starts cheating by having a drone weight in the ball, controlled by a 'partner' sat on the sidelines, steering it left or right eh.!😂! LOVE THE VIDS.🥰🥰... KEEP'EM COMING.🤞🥰... RICH(UK).🥰🥰🥰.!.!.!

No just fucks that throw the ball on the ground with no aim. I can hit the 1,3,5,9 pin with my straight throw I just shot a 292 the other day and I bowl yearly ! Sports are well for today’s pussy ass people so I guess he’s right no one would have fun ! I wonder if they only have 1 restroom at a bowling alley now!

I thought that bowling was just an excuse to drink beer, and drinking beer was an excuse for your bowling.
