I agree with most of this but Paul George guards the best scorer on every team in the clutch... kobe, steph, book, harden, tatum are hitting those shots no matter whos guarding them and its PG cause he's usually the best perimeter defender on the floor

To be fair to PG, he's right. That Dame shot was a bad shot. Most of the game winners on him were bad shots. Unfortunately, he happens to usually end up guarding the guys who are good at making bad shots

What’s crazy is that Paul George played excellent defense on all of those game winners. Someone’s gotta get scored on for a game winner and he puts himself in those situations. Gotta give props to him for not giving up and always guarding the best guy on the team to eventually get a game winner scored on him.

Like PG said, if Dame didn't hit that ridiculously long shot, analysts would have said "that was a bad look" or "he shouldn't have settled for that shot"... but he made magic happen which is what superstars like that do, break conventional wisdom. There are a few reasons I don't rate PG like that, but his defense is not one of them. Great video like always though.

I agree except the Paul George Bad Shot. He was specifically commenting on the Super Long Bomb that Dame took. He's still one of the best defenders and still one of the best scorers in the league WHILE GUARDING THE OPPOSING TEAM'S BEST SCORERS.

He's actually right, that's the definition of a bad shot. Sometimes good shots miss and bad shots go in.

I think it's more of a stroke of bad luck in PG's case, since PG is known as one of the best perimeter defenders he always has to guard the most elite shooters that the league has to offer. So him being scored on by a lot of game winners was always inevitable.

This was a brilliant video, also highly inspiring because of the examples these super obsessed players set for us in our daily lives. To live, is to die for.

Tbh the pg situation is really funny but I don't hate him for it. I actually admired that he doesn't give them a free walk to do their thing. The talent is just so enormous that better offense defeats great defense at times. I mean come on those game winners are not from nobodies, these were from kobe, dame, steph, lebron, etc. They are bound to make those shots anytime they wanted regardless of the defender.

You could do a compilation as you did about Durant on about every top player in the NBA. There are taking the final difficult shots and going to miss some. LeBron also missed a lot or was afraid to take them(Finals against the Mavs)

the thing about the paul george shots is this: he played REALLY GOOD defense on all but one or two of them. and a couple came when he brought the double team just a hair too late. he wasn't just getting blown by for layups, it was guys hitting shots in his face from deep, for the most part. step-backs, even, which are really hard to block, so you just contest hard and hope that the statistics win out (step-backs are NOT really great shots to take, percentage-wise...regular jumpers are much more accurate league-wide).

It just showed how good of a defender paul george is, always guarding the best during the clutch.

The Dame-Steph exchange should probably teach all of us a lesson about attribution bias. While what Dame said was definitely true in some capacity, part of the reason he said it was because a bunch of sports analysts were trying to find reasons for why Steph was performing under his usual standards, and, unfortunately, some failed to consider that it could have been an outlier, a statistical blip on the radar that had no real reason behind it. Also, statistically, being clutch doesn't really exist for the vast majority of players. Generally, the most "clutch" players, the guys who hit winning shots, are the ones who have played the best through the rest of the game. So given that, Kyrie's statement was probably questionable anyways. A lot of these game winners over Paul are actually fairly difficult shots. Guys just made them. Dame is one of like 5 people who can consistently make 3's from that far out. He shot nearly 40 percent on them that season. But everyone else? 26%. For every other player, or even most other superstars, it's a bad shot. Other details - On the shot from Tatum, you can see George's momentum is carrying him right. I don't know what play had been running, but it looks like he was recovering. Tatum noticed this & Paul had no chance after the cross. In the Houston clip, Kawhi is actually the primary defender on Harden. He gambles for a steal, his momentum sends him right, & Harden burns him by getting a step on him & going left. The stepback frose Kawhi for a second and, because of his added weight, he's not great at accelerating laterally and recovering in that direction. Paul knows this so he steps out to help, but he's rushing to get a contest in and his momentum sends him straight into Harden along with Kawhi. If Kawhi doesn't reach there and plays it straight up, using his length & strength, I'm willing to bet that Harden doesn't get anything that open. Book's shot was a horrible shot, but he made it & there wasn't a ton of time to work with to run something, and George got a good contest on Curry's shot, but his release is so quick that it didn't matter much.

There was never any critical words from Dame to Curry. He was simply stating a fact that Curry couldn’t always gets the shots he wanted like he used to when he had superstars playing alongside him. Dame and Steph respect each other and are friends.
