Sometimes a dog is better off with the “finders.” I had a landlady that left her dog in the yard all day, barking to be let in. He dug himself out and ran away repeatedly, eventually finding a happy home several blocks away - until landlady saw kids playing with him outdoors and reclaimed him. That dog escaped again and was killed trying to cross the street back to the home he preferred. My spouse scraped him up off the street and buried him. 😢

If he was “cruel” he would have left the dog or even maybe abused it, instead he got the dog groomed, fed, cleaned and bought several toys. He contacted the dogs owner right after he found our the dog was chipped. You need to relax

While I get that a week might seem like a super long time, imagine if they never went to get him checked at all. It's better that they went than to just keep him or dump him in a pound. And they probably even forgot about the existence of chips or didnt think about it cause dogs rarely have them.

If you lost your pup, would you be happy dying inside for an entire week wondering why you haven't heard anything about your puppy or even found a dead body yet? Only to find out that some inconsiderate person after youtube views had abducted your poor scared puppy and had been holding him the ENTIRE TIME without making any effort to contact you?

me hearing ryan's group talking about people leaving their dog in random places actually hit me deep. a couple years ago i had a rescue dog that was found in a field and was pregnant with 5 puppies, but she weighed 55 pounds. the sad thing is we lost her about 1 1/4 year later to cancer.
