I thought the Jason afraid of water was weird too until I really thought about it. When you take into account that Jason was in the "dream world" (especially one staring Freddy) it makes sense that he could be afraid of something that scared him as a kid, even if he is no longer afraid of it during his awake state. At least, that's the way I ended up rationalizing it because I hated the idea. Lol

Fun fact: There's actually a comic that explains what happen to Lori and Will after the events of the movie. Unfortunately however, it ended with Jason killing both. With Will being gutted and pinned to a barn wall, and Lori being stabbed through the face with Jason's machete.

My biggest problem with this movie and the FT13 movies, in general, is actually how the kills have aged. Many of them feel cheap/quick and dated. In the future, I really hope we get to see Jason be as brutal as Michael Myers was in Halloween Kills. It would be so badass to see Jason really use his brute force rather than swiftly swing a machete at someone like in the rave scene

I personally felt that the remake came close to that. Though not the strongest horror movie monster, Killer Cut Jason did something terrifying that very few iconic monsters had done up to that point; he ran! He fucking sprinted at his victims when necissary, though he also kept his stealthy side, with a touch of sadism. Name one other movie where someone literally roasted someone in a sleeping bag! He even tried to draw some other kids out with their screaming pal! Though Jason more limited than Freddy in terms of novelty kills, Jason sure has his moments where he tries.

VS Jason is actually tied with Ghost Jason for my favorite Jason look for completely opposite reasons. He just looks so much like a murderous meat mountain in this that you really get the pure physical threat he represents. Ghost Jason on the other hand comes across as some sort of ethereal spectre that's haunts Crystal Lake.

No matter how clunky and awkward this movie can be, it's still one of my cult favorites just because of the impact it had on me as a kid. I'm pretty sure this was my first slasher I watched with a group of friends when i was young, I remember we were all trying not to get scared or caught by their parents so we would constantly raise and put down the volume.Probbaly not good for my phyce looking back but it really carved it way into my heart

I would love to see a movie like the avengers but with horror movie killers like Michael Myers, Jason voorhees, Freddy Krueger, ghostface, pennywise, chucky, jigsaw, leatherface, the candyman, etc. In the movie they’re on 2 teams fighting it out. I know that sounds like something you would see in the late 90’s or the early 2000’s but I would still love to see all of those universes go together and the characters fight it out.

One of my friends had the idea of a slasher sitcom where Freddy, Jason, Michael and Leatherface are roommates, with other slasher characters showing up occasionally. According to their notes; Leatherface is in college studying to become a chef, Michael stays out late at night to play poker, Jason is a gamer, he has a headset despite being mute, and Freddy has insomnia. Ghost Face is a prankster with get-rich-quick schemes and tries to rope the main four into them, Candyman is the playboy neighbour, and Chucky is a babysitter for hire who is obviously terrible at the job

I was not expecting that off hand Gravity Falls reference in this kill count about Freddy and Jason But the more that I think on it, the more I realize I kinda want to see what would happen in a Bill Cypher vs Freddie match, seeing as they're both demonic entities that use dreams as their main go-to when it comes to ruining peoples lives. I would love to see an animated Freddie Kruger or a live action Bill Cypher - that would be pretty awesome for my horror loving, Gravity Falls obsessed self - especially as Freddie actually makes a sorta cameo in Stanford Pines' Journal 3 - on page 53, called a Category 9 ghost and marked as a Dream Hipster, and he might be on page 57, the page with all the shaded out creatures on the What Does It All Mean segment, though I may be getting confused with the plumbus and the fact that Dream Hipster showed up a couple pages before And yes, I do have the actual journal and yes, i did just go through it to make sure I got the page number correct and seeing as there are no page numbers written, it did take me a while, But now I know it's page 53 and that random bit of knowledge will surely come up at some point in a completely unrelated Gravity Falls tangent that no one will listen to Hope you enjoyed my little hyperfixed exploration and rant! I remember going to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights in 2007 for the Carnival of Carnage. The main theme was Freddy vs Jason and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003. It was just crazy how this film still had some momentum four years after it’s release. I’m super nostalgic for this film and I remember everyone in high school going nuts over it. I remember my friend and I always made versus movies ourselves including Michael versus Jason. They were pretty bad but it was fun making films like that at a young age especially during the pre-TRvid era. Great times.

My headcanon for the whole “afraid of water” thing is that Jason wasn’t sure if it was water or toxic sludge. He wasn’t afraid of water. He thought it was sludge, and he was afraid because of what happened last time (the whole turned into a child thing)

You redid everything, and added so much information. You went the extra mile, and it shows man. Good for you sir, this is way better then your original version, and that is saying a lot because I really enjoyed the original.

I think having the "brain-bodies" counted yet still separate in case was the best choice. I know I late to the party for this video but it's still very much worth the watch or even a rewatch. I really enjoyed this movie. It may have been missing the famous Elm Street creativity but I wonder how creative it could have been with the juggernaut of zombie-ish flesh that is Jason. I think there could have been a bit more with a longer dream sequence since I've had dreams that's been years long in a night but, eh...not my brain-child. I believe it's the best of both worlds.

The great thing about Jason Ritter’s scenes in this movie is that I can mentally swap out “Freddy” with “Bill” and imagine that this is an extremely dark sequel to Gravity Falls

Fun fact: Stephen Hand's novelization of "Freddy vs. Jason" featured all the past victims of Jason Voorhees-including Alice Hardy, Dr. Crews and Creighton Duke-after he killed Heather. It also has the "Freddy Kills Lori" version of the ending.

Man, this movie was an interesting one. When it came out I was 12, so it felt so cool to see something in the horror genre be at that magnitude and as a kid I felt involved, like I had seen the original movies. It's got a compelling list of pros and cons. The cons all add up to be so ridiculous, but given what the movie was at the time and knowing now how bad it could have been, I'm ok with what it was now. Sure the Jason water stuff was really stupid, but hey, if that is the worst of it to get two horror icons on the screen together in the early 2000s, that's not too bad. They were so close to sticking the landing and having a really iconic great movie, but I'll settle for the, not 100% fucking it up and having the Fred-Heads be a thing. All in all, it's passable and iconic.

My head cannon is that the water itself didn’t scare Jason, it just triggered his memory of him drowning & *that’s* what Freddy toke advantage of. He was already in the dream world for a decent bit of time & had already experienced a hallucination of his dead mom & I don’t think it’s that far fetched.

I love how the Golden Chainsaw is Trey in all 3 Kill Counts, but the Dull Machete is different each time. Something tells me James just hates so many of these kills, he can't decide which one sucks the most.
