13:25 THIS SPEACH bring on the tears 😭 “you don’t realise it, but you’re burning” 🔥 I love the detail that Violet senses things with her face and mouth, since her prosthetic arms, while sturdy, lack sensation. Another perhaps missable detail, Violet doesn’t only act stiffly and “follow orders” like in the military, she also talks stiffly, constantly being overly formal. Basically she doesn’t say “yes” she says “AFFIRMATIVE”…

yeah as far as what's worth watching for the series: the special episode takes place between ep 4 and 5 and is definitely worth watching. Both movies take place after season 1. "Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll" is great and worth watching, but "Violet Evergarden The Movie" is the conclusion to the story and a must watch. The recollections thing is just a recap.

Wow! This is gonna be a very emotional ride! Hope you enjoy this masterpiece of a drama series. Though I watched this in the English Dub ever since, the voice acting is really good though, I didn't even notice any difference from how the voice acting conveys the characters' feelings.

I really like this dub! I have watched both versions. I am almost always a sub person, but I watched both because of some of the VA's and have to say I am impressed with both. I really wanted to listen to the Japanese to hear Takehito Koyasu and English to hear Kyle McCarley's take on the same character. No surprise that they both crushed it!

Violet Evergarden was the first anime that I came to know of the super talented composer Evan Call, who is currently living in Japan and is composing other major Japanese soundtracks like the historical drama 13 Lords of the Shogun, and the upcoming anime, Friren: Beyond The Journey's End! The heartfelt music this man composes may soon rival the famous Ghibli movie music composer, Joe Hisaishi, whom Evan Call has said was his role model!

If you want to know how the story ends, you will have to watch the movie. If you want to see more of Violet’s growth as a person and how she learns what love, and emotions are, you should watch the extra episodes released after the show. Those came before the movie.

I have one request for people watching this: Please shut up about that one episode, you know which one. Every single reaction to Violet Evergarden has the comment section plagued by people hyping that one episode, and if the reactors get wing of it the expectations built for that episode will diminish their reaction to it. So please just wait patiently until that episode airs to gush about it. With that said I'm looking forward to this, Violet Evergarden is such a gem. An emerald even.

Violet can't feel anything with her hands. Violet's use of her mouth always struck me on a couple levels. Your mouth is your third manipulator, animals especially use their mouths for more dexterous work so it lends her a very practical or almost feral quality. Your lips are also very sensitive to touch and temperature, so there's a closeness or intimacy associated with them over your hands.

For what to watch: First 5episides, OVA, rest of the episodes, then watch the older movie and then the more recent one. (the first movie is kind of extra story but the second one is absolutely part of the story)
