This hits me different this year as I survived a cancer scare diagnosed last year. Was given 6m -1yr, but was diagnosed as cancer free in February. Still fighting the side effects of the treatment, but blessed to have family and friends that have and still are helping me in my battle. I understand everything he said about the fight now. A man “cooler than the other side of the pillow.” I remember as I was growing up, being excited everyday to turn on sports center just to watch him. He had so much charisma, a massive passion for sports, and a giant heart so big it couldn’t fit inside MSG itself. He truly lived life. Really miss him so much.
I still remember Griffey hitting a home run watching highlights of sportcenter in the morning getting ready for school and him saying “ AND IM GOING TO GET WICKED!!!” He brings back childhood memories 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💯💯💯👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
I listened to 3 peat on the Carter 3 and Lil Wayne said I got game like Stuart, Scott fresh out the ESPN shop( not sure that this is accurate). I wasn't watching ESPN yet or the NBA, or the NFL. But it is telling that a rapper in a completely different walk of life than Stuart acknowledged him on a track on his most commercially successful album. Its sad that he passed, but at the same time he left a legacy that can warm anyone's heart. He was so funny in the Sports Centre adverts.
