I just want to say I'm really happy about the meta-ness of me asking "the guy off-mic" why I had never used 'chemistry' as a win before to find out that I did in Baby Driver. I honestly never would have expected I would forget something like that and so many of you would immediately remember. But you're all correct! I even said it twice in the video.

Hey whose your favorite marvel character? Or comic book character not in film or barely in em? From hero to villain and not one of the main characters with own movies and such like Hill, Happy and such. Your top favorite character? And your favorite hero and favorite villain? Like you could choose the next movie and you pick....who?

Seriously, I liked the other Spidermans, but Tom Holland is my favorite. He does literally 95% of his own stunts, his chemistry with the other cast members is incredible, and he's such a relatable Spiderman even though we aren't necessarily superheros ourselves. He's understandable, and I love that so much. The movies he's in make me laugh, they make me cry, they make me angry, they make me cringe, and they make me smile. Everyone does such an amazing job!

Yeah he's probably the better overall spiderman. He does really well with both peter parker and spiderman. The others did phenomenal for one role and couldn't really fill up the other one that well. Tom's spiderman may be hated on a lot for being "cringey and just funny with no responsibility" but people forget that is his whole arc. He hasn't learned to take responsibilities as he is very much a teenager.

Absolutely and one thing I also love is how when push comes to shove he puts on the suit and gets to work, not just to save his friends but also save everyone, i.e. preventing Vulture from selling alien and Stark tech to the wrong people and Mysterio committing mass murder and colateral damage to boost his farse.

I think that, the big thing that sets you apart from the CinemaSins channel is that you don’t just make jokes about how a film is bad and leave it there, you actually stop and give a short video essay at the end about *why* you feel the way you do. Good show man

It honestly is one of my favorite lines in the whole MCU when Happy talks to Peter. "No one could live up to Tony. Not even Tony." Such an accurate statement and really brought me back to the original Iron Man trilogy before Infinity War and Endgame had him blasting into space in two seconds and solving the puzzle of time travel.
Murk
Murk Yıl önce
This was an understated line of genius as the first Tony literally lost, so he had go back in time as another version of himself to be the hero who sacrified everything, saved Earth and still died. Happy said that first sentence in past tense (past Tony), btw, while the next fragment is perfect present?

There's a *win* that you missed, in Homecoming, Happy didn't even give a damn about Peter, with having to basically babysit him and be his chauffeur and whatnot, but in this movie, after Endgame, Happy acts like a second father towards Peter because he knew this kid just went through A-LOT of Hell. Thanos wiping him out, being crushed alive under a buildng, getting injured in the Endgame war, and the worst of all: Watching Tony die right in front of him...

“He’s not bored,he’s just thinking about how you kidnapped him.” Love this Beck is so dry witted and hilarious here, and technically he’s correct about it being a kidnapping since Talos/Fury maneuvered the situation to get Peter exactly where he wanted him and basically dragged him from his hotel room to those catacombs. All that to say this was a great moment!

I loved the “in memoriam” segment. To these kids, and most of the world, these Heroes died fighting for them. So they probably picture each one having an epic final standing, fighting until their last breaths for them. They probably have no idea that Cap retired. It gives me chills to think about how THEY think these heroes went down. Blaze of glory.

@La Fee It's also why the Government, who are (supposed to be) an extension of our will are a bunch of hypocrites. And by extension, we are *also* hypocrites because in the end, we probably won't care if Iron Patriot dies, or if Spider-Man dies, or if Bucky dies. But as soon as millions of us die because of the pure extent of the damage being done to the city/village by the villain, we are suddenly all up in arms in protest against the Avengers and every other superhero or "enhanced person" and pretend like it wasn't the supervillain's fault in reality. This is the perfect example of irony.

botjanks yes but these kids making the memorial video are again, kids, used Whitney Houston as the backing music, so of course they would use Comic Sans. They just don't care. It is purely a matter of respect and pushing him up higher on the pedestal until he becomes nothing more than a legend, and if they make it fun and cheesy then who gets hurt? No one, because none of their peers are an avenger and no one cares. Their thoughts. Even I, someone who has a deep seated hatred for Comic Sans, would make something that dumb for someone I never knew nor cared about. It'd be like if Greta Thunberg died stopping a whaling ship, don't know her, don't care, but ask me to make a memorial video and imma fuck around.

It hits harder for the audience because we know that Peter’s last words to Tony before his death in infinity war were “I’m sorry” and his last words to Tony before he died in endgame were “I’m sorry, Tony.” Obviously Mysterio doesn’t know this but as the audience and knowing Peter it makes it even more heartbreaking. Peter feels so much responsibility, both for the failure to stop Thanos in infinity war and Tony’s death in Endgame.

I love reactions like this because while I knew mysterio is a villain, his goal is to hit where it hurts the most. @Random Commenter My take on it was that, Peter feels guilty and responsible for Tony's death because, on Titan, he was so close to getting the gauntlet off and he probably feels that, had he succeeded, Tony wouldn't have died. So, it may not have been his fault, but he feels like it is.

One line from Beck/Mysterio I liked was when he learned that one of his helpers screwed up and let a drone get captured by MJ, who then told Peter the truth: “Now I’m going to have to kill Peter Parker!” He says it in a way that is regretful. He never wanted to kill him and never planned to do so. I think that was a good, underrated character moment

I don't think that's true. It's fun to think about, but film studios schedule everything to a T to make sure their budget is spent correctly. No major studio would waste money shooting fake scenes for an actor's sake. It's a funny meme that Tom Holland is bad at keeping secrets, but it's likely they just told him to knock it off or he'd suffer some consequences because it's a breach of contract. What you said sounds like a joke someone posted and ended up circulating as false information.

@sara from what I heard and read, movies aren't even filmed in sequence, because of logistics and timing, they film the scenes in the locations most convenient to them meaning that most actors don't actually really know where they are filming, sure if they read the script they can get the gist of it but its like having to just play the moment correctly when they are shooting

Seeing the scene where the band kids suddenly appear in the middle of the basketball court and run into the players has always made me wonder, what would happen if you were standing directly where someone else was standing, and they got snapped back into existence? Would you just get pushed out of the way, or like both you just die instantly in a bloody mess? Or like what would happen if you were standing somewhere, let’s say on a cross walk, and when you re appear, there is a car right where you re appear, you would most likely get chopped into little bits

@Falxifer Honestly Tobey should've moved on after that. The fact that she was getting married to someone else should've been Peter's clue that he sadly missed out and that adding her to his hectic life wouldn't be good for either of them. MCU Peter wanting to take a break and be a teenager again after everything that happened in The Avenger movies is perfectly understandable to me. People calling him selfish for wanting to take time for himself are just rude, disrespectful and NEED to rewatch the movie again.

And some people say him wanting a break from being Spider-Man in this movie after both Infinity War and seeing Tony's sacrifice is "selfish". What I really liked about this version of Mysterio was the way that the trailer's kind of tricked you into thinking that he may actually be the good guy in the movie. I feel like even though we wanted him to be a hero, we all knew it would end up with the classic VFX artist villain from the comics. I personally thought he WOULD be the good guy throughout the film until around the end. I thought that Quentin and Peter would take down that giant monster thing and Spiderman would get all of the credit. Mysterio would get jealous and try to kill Peter. Of course, I'm still pretty happy with the way he turned out.

I think the scene in this movies that really is just the thesis for the whole thing is the scene where Peter and Happy just sit down and have a heart to heart; starting with Peter exploding and voicing his fears and anxieties. Being a teenage super hero would be hard enough as is, but with the pressure put on him to be the next Iron-Man, it makes sense why Peter is so stressed out (I'm just surprised his face isn't as pimple populated as mine with all that baggage). He can't find an excuse to not do that so he feels obligated until Beck shows up, only for him to pull the wool over Peter's eyes and manipulate him and so expertly until he threatens his friends lives. Peter wants to trust people, he always tries to see the best in them, so having his new mentor figure abuse that and coax out everything that Peter wants to protect is so gut wrecking for Peter. That's part of why I love these videos, and I plan on making a short essay like this on all other MCU Spider-Man videos on this channel

Mysterio was such a memorable villain to me because he played with all of the tropes of a superhero - Can't stop posing before and through action - Capes - Quips - Generic energy projection with blasts, repulsion, stationary can't-hold-it-much-longer magic shield, - One-liners - Self-sacrifice with a convenient last energy blast - Bonding moments knowing the right thing to say - World-threatening events with generic monsters destroying random stuff - Kooky codename - Superman-ish beacon of hope - Contrived, tragic backstory with lost family (attention to detail win here since Beck does wear a holographic wedding ring under the holographic left glove, or... real. Beck really got me in what's real or fake) All in order to be a believable superhero, Beck really blurred the line of what makes a hero and how characters are built. And casting Jake Gyllenhaal!? A guy so versatile that not even checking his filmography wouldn't help define of that would be a different version of Mysterio who would actually be a hero. PITCH PERFECT

@Max Cloud Spider-Man holds his punches back otherwise he would kill them in one punch with full strength which is comic accurate and MCU Peter. And the thing with Toms is that in Homecoming he's very inexperienced and never dealt with a proper villain before so he was easily beaten. Far From Home deals with him trying to balance his responsibility and wanting to be an ordinary kid and also dealing with him finally realising he doesn't have to live in Tonys shadow and once he does he becomes more independent. The issue I have with Tobey's Spider-Man is that he doesn't really go through a progression throughout the film of making mistakes and learning along the way. Also Mysterio only "beat" the water monster because it was illusion tech controlled by him and his team and it wasn't even a real water monster, Peter also saw that the situation was under control and had the responsibility of making sure the tower didn't collapse onto anyone. The uncle ben thing happened before we see Peter in the MCU so we never saw how it broke him and the responsibility thing is still very much still. In the Far From Home final fight we see him methodically taking down the drones and using different techniques and been smart about it

@Max Cloud I mean the suit he eventually makes in Far From Home isn't overly techy compared to the Homecoming one and he makes it himself and dictates what goes into the suit and how it looks. And the only reason he gets beaten up in Homecoming is due to his lack of experience of fighting a proper villain. A more experienced Peter Parker would have beaten him more easily. In Far From Home he's clearly had more practice which is why he's able to methodically defeat the drones and take back the glasses

@Cody I mean Tobey is a good Peter Parker but he doesn't quite land as Spider-Man, his quips are very minimal and lacking in energy and in the comics when he's Spider-Man hes full on confidence, energy and constantly talks while fighting which Tobey lacked and those films didn't quite nail it. Thats something the Tom Holland version nails. And in FFH Peter makes his own suit and doesn't have loads of features like the version Tony made and it doesn't have an A.I

This movie made me so sad because I knew mysterio was a spiderman villain but for some reason I was like maybe the writers just changed it and then the reveal happened and it broke my heart lol

To me it makes sense for Tony to keep certain things from Peter. It also makes sense to me for Peter's hero-worship of Tony to keep him from seeing even any bit of flaws that could have been visible.

The movie deserves mad props. Spiderman is probably the superhero I'm most familiar with; I knew darn well Mysterio was a Spidey villain and I STILL bought the whole "alternate reality hero Mysterio" lie hook line and sinker. Jake Gyllenhaal really sold the Mysterio-as-hero and then seamlessly sold the JK-Mysterio-is-a-fake-and-I'm-a-villain turn just as well. Bravo. I loved the cheesy high schooler-made tribute to the fallen Avengers, especially the Getty Images watermark on the last photo XD Also Tom Holland and Zendaya are so believably adorkable I love it.

I'm sad this misses the moment when Peter hugs Happy. Peter is semi-traumatized from basically being non-stop gaslit by Beck. He's terrified, and he doesn't know who to trust. So finally knowing that Happy is real and feeling security for once is just so touching.

This movie is relatable for me because I doubt myself so much. I cant make a decision by myself once I was crossing a road and I stopped in the middle of it because I wasn't sure if I should walk or not. I just can't trust myself with anything like answers on a question.

I wish you had winned my favorite line from Happy's "pep talk." "No one can live up to Tony. Not even Tony." Just letting him know hey, stop chasing the legend of iron man. You'll never catch it, not because you're not good enough but because it doesn't exist. It's a legend and not even the man behind it could catch it. He tore himself up trying to catch it just like you're doing right now. To me that was the part that let Peter out of Tony's shadow.

Wheel No.4 The suit and tech doesn't matter. It's the person in the suit. No one else could be Iron Man. And everybody was pushing that responsibility on Peter. Peter and Iron Man are nothing alike, but Peter and Tony are similar. That's why Tony took him under his wing. He saw himself in Peter but without his ego. He wanted him to be better than him. Tony's ego is the reason mysterio exists in the first place. For as much good Tony did, he made A LOT of villans. Beck, The Mandarin, Ultron, ECT. That's why he took the suit he made away in homecoming when Pete lost sight of who he was, and was letting the hero gig go to his head. And if that isn't enough reason for you, his friends and the girl he loves are gonna die and he doesn't have a suit. You think he's not going to use the technology to his advantage? And if you're upset that it's different than the old Spiderman we know, I get that. But Spidey-fatigue is a real thing and having a retelling of a story we heard 1,000,000 times already is the worst direction the MCU could have gone. Is this version of Spidey perfect? No, and neither was the Rami or any incarnation of Spiderman for that matter. Does the MCU movies themselves have flaws? Absolutely. The cgi in homecoming was pretty wonky and there are plot holes in any movie if you look hard enough. But this hang up about the relationship between T & P is literally one of the dumbest complaints I've heard. It's not like Spiderman was handed to Peter. He made the hoodie suit in homecoming and he invented the web fluid. Plus, HE decided to become Spiderman. He wasn't told to. All Tony did was give him tech and a father figure. But, to each their own. If you don't like it, just make sure you don't like it for the right reasons. Or just be honest that you just don't have a good reason. Hate a movie for bad writing, dialogue, characters, or effects. Not because it's different than the source material.

What I really want to know is when did they decide to make Beck the inventor of BARF and his lead tech guy the engineer who got talked down to by Obadiah Stane? I'm so glad with how they did Mysterio. He is such a rubbish villain (in the best way possible) that I thought could only be done well in a film if they actually made him magic... but they didn't. He's just a guy in a mo-cap suit and they made it amazing. Absolutley stunning execution.

@SkyGuy675 yea the holographic tech was a brilliant idea and a great way to believably up the scale of what he could do and who he could fool. im only disappointed they didnt give him more tricks up his sleeves. like i feel like the drones dont properly explain everything Beck was able to do (such as when Peter gets grabbed and dog piled by copies of him) and he couldve done more if they gave him other tools. but overall im happy and loved it

@Jahny Bravo I always thought that realistically, Mysterio's abilities were always a but lackluster and wouldn't really be good enough for film, but the scope and dynamic of what they do with him and how they explain it, oh its just perfect

I always knew mysterio was destined to be an amazing movie villain. as a kid, some of my favorite levels in spider-man games were the mysterio levels. they were just always more fantastical than the other villain bosses. i mean his whole schtick in comics and games is that he is a former MOVIE special effects artist who used his talents to create illusions. that character is literally born to be in movies. movie effects is literally what he does. since i was like 7, every time they announced a new spider-man movie i hoped they would use Mysterio. oh my god, i cannot even explain the excitement i felt when i first saw reports Jake was heard to be playing Mysterio. and im so happy with how it turned out. that illusion sequence was everything i could ever hope for. im glad they didnt make him magic or give him actual powers. he's so much better as a guy with no actual powers

In the comics (especially the first one) I’m not really a fan of Mysterio. In the first one he had no motivation outside of “What if I pretend to be Spiderman and rob a bank?” He didn’t even have a name. I did, however, really enjoy this interpretation of Mysterio, and the moment you pointed our makes me like him even more, so thank you for getting me to love this movie even more than I already did.

The whole reason Peter's spidey sense was on the fritz was because of the PTSD he had. It matches a thing you can see with real people with PTSD, especially young people. It's definitely un underlying theme.

Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson) has stated that the driver who picked him up at the airport was originally going to be his father. The text message confirming his parents are neglectful was added in post because of it.

the biggest issue is that the supporting characters are mostly there for comedic purposes. What made the Raimi series so good was that every single character was super developed, even MJ. The interactions between all these characters is what created the drama. Also, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that in Far From Home when Peter was stuck in the Netherlands during his lowest point, all he had to do was make a phone call to Happy. He had to make a SINGLE PHONE CALL to get out of the situation he was in. It would have been much better to have him get out of that situation himself and see him develop into the real hero he's supposed to be.

I think it's fact that since Peter doesn't see Aunt May as a threat, it means that his spidey senses don't actually tell him she's there, which is why in homecoming he didn't know she was there when he got into his room in the ending, Aunt May is a ghost in his senses

I think a better way to tie together Peter's Spider-sense to today's problems of misinformation is to understand that Peter had to acknowledge, face, and let go of his fear and anxiety about living up to Tony in order to see through the holograms. Misinformation relies on appealing to people's fears, anxieties, and unconscious biases in order to propagate. If someone is secretly scared of a group of people, they'll often pay attention to whatever misleading bullshit validates their fears, instead of listening to their rational skepticism. Mysterio needed Peter's fear and anxiety that he was letting Tony down, but once that fear was acknowledged, faced, and released, Mysterio's illusions became powerless. In much the same way, the best way to see through misinformation is to acknowledge, face, and release the hidden fears and anxieties within oneself.
