Elden Ring, but I Only Use Thorns - Bride of Thorns Build

For this build I'll be using thorn themed weapons, spells, and bride-like armor. The goal is to beat the game while also killing some major optional bosses. The next build I’ll do will be live so if you want to watch it live go ahead and follow me on my other socials as well. Also Elden Ring was updated at the very end of this run. So everything up to Elden Beast is on 1.06. This build was buffed in 1.07 but I didn’t get to experience it.

I really enjoyed this video! personally, I like watching/hearing about themed runs more than just straight up challenge runs because themes provide more opportunities for problem solving, imo. instead of just "I do basically zero damage and need to endure long fights," themed runs are like "I can do X really well for some fights but others are absolute nightmares" which is more entertaining to me lol I really enjoyed the editing and music choices too!

Cast with an albinauric staff for the arcane scaling will increase the bleed build up by an absolute tonne.

Great underrated channel, your challenge runs always have a clear sense of progression and a fair amount of variety even with the weapon limits (as opposed to just 'can I beat the game using this one weapon/spell'). I look forward to seeing more!

Funnily enough, when you went to go kill Elemer of the Briar, along with his armor I thought you might have also grabbed his sword and shield too. Since the shield is wrapped in thorns just like his armor, and the sword has some around the hilt too. But I suppose that would have made the challenge run too easy since you'd be using an actual weapon that's not Varre's bouquet lol

@MaceJack Yeah, 21 str is a lot just for a shield that doesn't even have 100% physical block. What's extra weird is that it is just straight up worse in every single stat vs the palisade shield which only requires 20 str. Almost wish it was a somber weapon instead and that they gave it either the big slam, or big dash attacks that Elemar uses as the AoW.

Yeah. I honestly planned to use the briars shield during the playthrough but I didn't ever end up committing to the strength requirement.

I'm sure you know already, but if you want to lower your farm times for rare items like the staff of the guilty, you can get the cookbook and items to craft silver pickled fowl foots to make things quicker. All the items and the cookbook are accessible pretty early game.

Haha true. At the start of the run I was thinking it was weird I haven't seen anyone do this type of playthrough yet. Then halfway through my run I see Bushy and another creator put out thorn runs within days of each other lol.

Also, big dude’s roll is easy to avoid, jump left and stay locked and strafe. He’ll just circle you. It’s the little one you gotta worry about. He’ll close the distance.

Malenia with thorns is hella hard. i tried it, broke my controller deleted the game. then cried. then you can just kill her more easily than i can on a non challenge run.

Kinda disappointed in the flowers. never seen them used and was hoping they'd at least be a viable option. I don't expect all summons to be tiche or mimic level but some summons are so useless it makes me wonder why they wasted the data and dev time on them.

Is it better to use that thorn staff or the albinauric staff? The albinauric staff gets really good arcane scaling but idk what thorn spells scale better with between arcane or faith

Not too sure. The Thorn staff at least improves the base damage. Arcane scaling might be better for some bosses especially if bleed can proc, but a lot of the bosses towards the end are immune to bleed so I figured base damage Thorn spell boost would be better

I would subscribe but you only posted 3 vids all on 1 topic so I'm not sure if you want to be a TRvidr or was just doing them cus it was fun. Either way I look forward to another video challenge if you do any. I discovered Skyrim in 2022 after my boyfriend found out I'd never played it or watched gameplay so as someone who doesn't know everything about the game I think Skyrim would be another one I'd love to see unique challenges for. Good job on the vids my guy. They were all very well made and thought out.

...and poison flowers. Like, this is such a cop-out ngl. Same with the whip and Varre's bouqet. Might as well just say everything bleed "fits the build". Nice presentation, but this is a pretty misleading title. Not the challenge run you're advertising.
