Lol definitely not unproblematic- she’s been through a tough life. That wasn’t her fault. She’s definitely handled herself with Grace though. She’s amazing.
Unproblematic now, yes very much. But what makes this so incredible to me is that she pulled herself up from: not only an absent father and although she was present, an absent mother, fame at an early age, all the drugs and alcohol and addiction, all the crazy things she did, emancipated from her parents (at the age of 14!) and living on her own, she went through through all this and yet became a successful actress in adulthood despite being label poison by Hollywood, became a successful producer, started her own production company and different product lines all while being the kind, compassionate human being she is. From the guests accounts, she is obviously a wonderful friend and of course last but by no means least a wonderful mother. I marvel at her accomplishments. She has the Barrymore name, but she got where she is by pure determination and hard work while maintaining a lovely spirit.
I have a newfound respect for Steven Speilberg after this. So touching that she felt his care for her and they remain close to this day. I love how she acknowledges he's "the first person to care for (her)". You can truly feel the love right there.
Why the shock of seeing Letterman? Easy. He’s not an outgoing man. To get him to show up to an event or something is beyond difficult and he did it for her? Amazing. You could see it on her face. I’m a big fan of Drew Barrymore. She’s such an amazing person after going through a tough adolescence.

There was w fan club for her on the early internet. She did not have -or understand maybe? Don’t remember exactly - internet but would write us fans the sweetest letters which the couple who ran the site would repost. I was so obsessed with her! Lol She will always be my favorite celebrity.

I went to a taping of James Corden, and when Drew came out she looked right at my sister and me and smiled and waved at us. She probably doesn’t remember it but it was just so welcoming. I didn’t feel like there was this celeb in front of me, just seemed like a really kind person. She was the best part of the taping, she seemed so genuine.
I WATCHED THIS ENTIRE EPISODE AND GOSH IM JUST SOOO HAPPY FOR HER AND THAT SHE HAD THE BEST SWEETEST DAY! Drew is one of those people that actually deserve all the success they have had in their life and a light and icon in everyone else’s. I love you Drew Barrymore. My whole childhood to up until me being 24 now, your films and bubbly personality have always provided entertainment and love and been around. So thanks.

All I can say is with all of the heaviness going on all around me/us/the world, I can only speak for myself when I say I really NEEDED this today more than ever. Humans celebrating another human, celebrating kindness, love, growth, maturity, friendships etc. This was the most beautiful experience I've had in a really long time. I am very close in age to Drew and have been a fan of hers from the get-go and it's lovely that she is so loved, and loves incredibly hard! I don't don't you Drew but I hope you know that you've made a difference in the lives of some of us who admire you from afar. Happy Birthday xo

This is an engaging show. Some of her guests bring me back to a time when the world wasn't in so much deep trouble, like David Letterman, whose show I've missed, or Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz. I've never seen Savannah Guthrie prior to this show though she looks familiar, but she's a good balance as co-host...i hope this show lasts very very long. It's quite refreshing...
Not followed her career as extensively at others, but I still think Scream had the best ever horror movie opening, extremely well written scene and likely wouldn't have had the same impact without Drew Barrymore.
That was a ton of fun! A birthday to remember for sure. Drew is so appreciative and grateful for everything and everyone in her life. No wonder her life is blessed and she is loved so much.
Drew is an angel on earth. I have a childhood memory of going to watch my first movie the day E.T. opened, and I will never forget that memory, and what Drew means to me.

As a Baby Boomer, I got to watch Drew move through her childhood since ET to evolve into a beautiful, interesting woman. Not many child celebrities can manage the fame. Drew came out the other side as an amazing person! She lived her life as herself and continues to do so. Being a non-famous teenager is a challenge in itself. Having all those doors open for someone so young. Drew is an accomplished actress. She has the character and integrity to show for it all. Happy Birthday Drew!
