For future projects, if you want to use that first mild stuff, try wrapping it around the sides instead of going from the top. I've made quite a few with that stuff and wrapping usually works a lot better 🙂

Very fun to watch and such GREAT results! 👍😊 I'm usually a silent watcher, but I'd like to make a suggestion (even though I'm a year late!): instead of using the heavy steel ball bearings, you might find it easier to use those firm foam balls used in slime? They come in small, but various sizes (like, 2-6 mm usually) and might be ideal for planets? They're cheap, readily available just about anywhere.

Pouring from a height can also help to minimise air bubbles in the silicone, I use silicone in my job and we have to make sure there are no air bubbles. Vacuum chambers are always for the win too! 😂

the embeds part was so great to watch as an artist that works with polymer clay frequently lol. I'm guessing the random clay you had that melted was modeling clay (it doesn't harden ever). polymer clay tends to get harder the older it is! love polymer clay and you were doing fantastic with your cute embeds! so cool

That would be cool but wouldn't it be ruined too fast/easily since they work there? It would get stained and dirty. Maybe it would be better to do it in a room they don't use too often or that they use for less messy stuff.

@Nosebleed de Groselha Probably but I am sure it's easier to clean than concrete as the mess would not seep in it and should be just surface grime that probably doesn't stick as it does on concrete :) but this is actually a thing, there are special resin for floor covering so it's not a completely crazy idea either, just a very expensive one

Hint: You can degas your silicone in a vacuum chamber first, but it might also help to put the silicone with the keycap into a pressure pot, so that any bubbles that are left get compressed and hopefully disappear. Trick from punished props, particularly for clear pieces.

don’t be ashamed of a ll the trials and fails. Personally I love seeing at least a bit of them because so many artists and makers tend to leave stuff out. It shows how much work and effort truly goes into the things you make. Thanks for showing some bits of it! You gotta fail to learn, something I’ve experienced plenty. Also personally i work with polymer sculpey clay, to get details in well it can be handy to make a tiny base with some aluminum and have a way to hold it up without using your fingers. Also theres option with sculpey bond and bake or such to bake a base off and add some smaller stuff later so you dont deform everything the whole time your holding it. Your jooby turned out pretty good tho, so cute ❤️

If you pour silicone from more height / gentle tap the cup on the table you will definitely end up with a lot fewer bubbles! You don't necessarily need a vacuum chamber. You could also secure the key to a flat surface and make clay walls around it and fill that with the silicone to save product.
