Because there wasn’t one hit on that album. Take away the visuals and cheating and the music mediocre as hell. Sorry I ain’t sorry hell naaa vs Adele? Please it’s easy
Maria Gonzalez Thank You! I was like: it isn’t funny, it is strategic to bring emphasis to your mastery of your own voice. When she makes her voice crack she is going from her chest voice to her head voice, vice-versa. I just love how well she sings. She inspires me to be better, not only by how spectacular both her singing and talking/storytelling voice is, but how her story is amazing and she is such a strong woman. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter deserves all of the good things in her life and I wish her many more years and nothing but love and prosperity in her future.
I have to disagree... This was her worst album.. prior to Renaissance.. Lemonade is now her 2nd worst.. Renaissance is absolute hands down trash...none of the songs have a chorus that stick in your mind....as a chorus / hook should...if Kelly or Michelle had recorded the exact same albums.. they never would have made noise... Bey could drop an album blowing bubbles and the Beyhive would live by it.. her older stuff had more substance
I love that Jay-Z went to therapy and got to the root of his issues and WHY he was cheating. Because it usually has very little to do with the relationship and everything to do with a person avoiding trauma. A lot of men avoid thinking about trauma (something that feels bad) from their lives by using sex (something that feels good). He was willing to put in the work and get some healing for HIMSELF, which takes a strong person. I can understand why Beyoncé was willing to reconcile the relationship, despite her own trauma when it comes to cheating fathers.
@Ebony White I think I just bought into what Jay-Z was saying a few years ago when I thought he was actually capable of self reflection. At this point, I think he’s a narcissist and I was fooled by his pretty words.
Lemonade is the most amazing album ever made. Even if I don't listen to the songs all the time, the poetry and artistry is so amazing. The way she pulls this album together in a story and with a theme is pure artistry. If any album ever deserved a grammy - it was this. Adele was right in feeling undeserving.
Yeah, that voice crack when she said, "what is it about you that I can't erase?"...you can hear that she is crying on that part. Raw emotion from her...always...that's why I love her music.
I think everyone commenting about how Jay Z doesn’t deserve Beyoncé is missing the whole point of this song. She sings about how hurt she was by what he did and how he broke his promises to her and then she promised herself that she couldn’t stay with him but then she ended up breaking that promise once she was able to see his “scars” and understand why he acted the way he did and that he does love her and that she does love him even after everything. Edit: Thanks for the likes! Sending love to all of you. Just want to clarify that in no way is this me defending cheating nor would I personally choose to stay with someone who’s cheated on me. I’m saying that I see this as her being vulnerable and giving insight through music on how she felt and her process towards forgiveness. Whether you or I would do the same in the same situation is irrelevant. I don’t think it’s our place to judge a relationship between two people we don’t even personally know especially in the comments of such a vulnerable song.
Well said & yes it is about forgiveness. Loving someone through their pain, hurt & truth until you both heal, but it takes time. Props to Bey & J for hanging in there 👑🐝❤️
@Madison Campbell hey, it’s been 2 years but I just felt like commenting for those who may scroll along. Marriage doesn’t mean staying in a toxic or abusive situation. Marriage is about having a partnership with someone for what’s supposed to be the rest of your life. If they disrespect you, harm you, or break their vow, do not stay. If you choose to reconcile because they’ve chosen to change & to atone, then that’s one thing. It’s completely different to just stay in toxicity simply because “it’s marriage.” Cause it’s not. I hope people have the foresight to see this, it leads to healing. Stay safe.
After hearing Lemonade, I was struck speechless. It's so diverse, and every single song is so powerful and so special, and the feelings expressed in every song are so raw and profound, and B's voice is such a force of nature: breathtaking beauty, tremendous power and flawless technique. This is no less than a miracle. Beyoncé is an absolute miracle. I'm so glad I found her, and this diamond crown of an album. She was my new all-time favorite pop singer even before I got to the middle of Lemonade, because there's truly no one like her. We're so blessed to have her.
Beyonce has such a powerful way of expressing her pain, she makes you feel like how she felt during the cheating. I can't imagine just how painful it is to be cheated on by the one who was always supposed to be at your side, share your love with, this person that has betrayed your trust was the one who you trusted the most. I don't think I'll be as strong as Beyonce to stay and work through the relationship. I'd be too hurt
Don’t hurt yourself, 6 inch, Freedom, Daddy lessons, Pray you catch me, etc They all deserve to be published here! ❤ Give us everything dear B, we want to have it all there on the official channel!!! Please❣️ PETITION 🙏🏽🫶🏽🤞🏽🙌🏽
The same thing happened to me. I had never been cheated on and I thought this album was just okay. He told me he cheated on me and I relistened to this album and it is genius. She has captured my emotions so well
LYRICS We built sand castles that washed away I made you cry when I walked away And although I promised that I couldn't stay, baby Every promise don't work out that way, oh, babe Every promise don't work out that way Dishes smashed on my counter from our last encounter Pictures snatched out the frame Bitch, I scratched out your name and your face What is it about you that I can't erase, baby? Well every promise don't work out that way, no no, babe Well every promise don't work out that way And your heart is broken cause I walked away Show me your scars and I won't walk away And I know I promised that I couldn't stay, baby Every promise don't work out that way, no no no no no Every promise don't work out that way
I was crying in my room when this was released. My self-esteem was at the lowest, my friend died, and my ex cheated. I've moved on from all those and I'm at a better place now, but for some reason when I hear this song, it's as if I'm taken back to my old room and I hear faint drizzles outside and remember the pain I was feeling at the time. It was pure bitterness. But this is the same album that helped me heal, and to me it will always be my favorite from Bey because it got personal impact on me.
I pray that you are really in a better place now. I've been walked in your shoes before , so I felt every words . This song has powerful healing 🙏🏼🌸 sending you best wishes...
Breeana Albino This new singers and songwriters are nothing like they use to be, The amazing Music was from the 90's and back. The High bar was set than.
It's so sad that Beyoncé' songs which are somewhat gimmicky get the most views but the ones where u truly get to see her true artistry are not as viewed .
@PMc i disagree ur obviously a hater cause u say shes unauthenctic and all this shit which mean ur opinion is basically useless. I think its very artistic not saying cause of the slow song yhat never even come into my head im tlaking about the whole lemonade project knowone in music has ever used that arsticic aspect in any album ever
And the saddest thing is, because people patronize upbeat songs more, Bey might eventually stop making ballads. I'm a ballad person and if that day would come, I would just be listening to B-day and Sasha fierce albums on replay.
PMc I guess you can arrogantly relegate songs that you don't like to "teenager poetry" if you need to. But that doesn't take away from the very real fact that songs stirs and touches people emotionally. Something that music sometimes only has to be. But using this song to validate the very wrong claim that she has no artistry is simply a lie. Her last two albums were wrought with symbolism, meaning and message. But you have a narrative you wish to push so you play dumb and act as if you know her music. Have a seat.
I'm literally in love with this song. The way she plays is just perfect, it is possible to feel in her soul what she means and the pain she has felt or felt. I praise you Beyoncé.
We build sand castles That washed away I made you cry When I walked away, ooh And although I promised That I couldn't stay, babe Every promise don't work out that way, oh babe Every promise don't work out that way Dishes smashed on my counter From our last encounter Pictures snatched out the frame Bitch I scratched out your name And your face What is it about you? That I can't erase, baby When every promise don't work out that way No no oh baby When every promise don't work out that way And your heart is broken Cause I walked away Show me your scars And I won't walk away, Ooh And I know I promised that I couldn't stay, bay... baby Every promise don't work out that way, no no no no no Every promise don't work out that way
I love that this is the most emotionally raw, honest song on the album and you can see that through the video. There's no costumes, no choreography, just her and Jay. I love it.
Such a beautiful body of work. Beyoncé changed the world with self titled and then shifted the culture with lemonade. The only album I’ve ever actually spent money to buy. She really made us forgive Jay with her. She took us thru the process of grief along with her. That’s what music is supposed to do. Beyoncé made an ALBUMMMMM. Nobody makes them anymore. This song is my favorite and the video makes me cry Everytime. The pure love that is shown and felt thru the song. When he is cuddling her feet… that’s just true, pure love. And it puts u in her shoes to see how she could stay after what she had been thru.
Same. I’m waiting for Beyoncé’s Oprah retirement era. So we can hear her talk. But she doesn’t even need to think about that for like 20 years. I’ll be here for it.
This song is so underrated. Sandcastles is so pure and natural. People think that this song was about jay cheating on bey. But i think this song ia about forgiveness and giving a second chance.
I don’t know how many times I have heard this song, yet her voice cracking still gets me. I swear I can feel everything she’s going through when she sings this song.
Mds essa msc me faz chorar não sei o pq mais sinto vontade de chorar ainda mais com uma voz dessas quero pode ter a honra de ver ela um dia e dizer o quanto ela é maravilhosa e o mundo td amar ela
This right here is an art. From the video to the vocals. She showed the world her pain through this song and it honestly brings tears to my eyes. Bravo Beyonce for once again giving us a song that we can relate to through your beautiful artistry.👏🏾👑🐝
I found this song after leaving my abusive fathers house, I was with a foster family before I could get back to my mom who was in another country. I learnt to play this song on the piano while trying to heal. As much as he was an ass I still loved him. This song helped me forgive him but it also made me wish things were better between us. Anyways it's been about 2 years and it still makes me cry. I appreciate being able to deal with my emotions in such a beautiful way. Music is really so powerful.

When every promise don't work out that way, no no, babe When every promise don't work out that way [Verse 3] And your heart is broken 'cause I walked away Show me your scars and I won't walk away And I know I promised that I couldn't stay, baby Every promise don't work out that way, no no no no no Every promise don't work out that way
This song makes me cry every time. The first time I heard it my coworker and I were driving back into town listening to Lemonade, this song came on and both of us were wiping away tears by the end of it lol.

"There is a curse that will be broken" These words always give me hope, although I run around looking for an escape, only to come back to the same place. A place of darkness and misery. But if Beyoncé did it, so can I. I remain hopeful. *There is a curse, that will be broken.*
I love Beyoncé so much. She is just so unique and amazing. I wish people could just understand the actual meaning of these songs. Don't just like it because it has "a catchy beat" or whatever. You have to actually listen to the lyrics. And understand the concept of her videos.

This song makes my heart hurts more now knowing how it felt to have someone you love betrayed you and broke your heart, your trust I'm crying listening the words of this song while watching the video. I don't know why I can't hate him I now understand why beyonce forgive her husband
This song gets to me all the time like I love her album but this song has spoken to me like never before even if your in a relationship don't stay with someone if you know he's going to keep doing it don't put up with it at all everyone who has been through that deserves better
I love Adele and Beyoncé and they love each other I'm so happy!!! I wouldn't have cared if either won, they both deserved it. 25 had more sales and the songs made me cry, Lemonade was like a story, it was beautiful. Did I mention how happy I am that Adela is Beyoncé's STAN? LOve them both so much for making the music that speak to me ❤️
It pisses me off when people say “ Beyoncé isn’t a role model for young girls, she forgave jay z for cheating.” I think the message she gives out is “ it’s ok to be angry at someone, and hate them for a while, but you need calm down and try to accept and understand the root of the problem. Then, if your able to, forgive them, and work hard as a pair to fix the trust and respect broken.” A much better message than “ I hate all men, I don’t need anyone bc I’m a feminist” shtick. Having the time, patience and empathy to forgive a cheating husband doesn’t make her any less of a woman, or a role model!
This is real love and relationships. The heartbreaking moments that are so intimate. She wanted to leave, but she couldn't because of the love for him. The pain he inflicted on her and himself by his actions. I understand that shit. Nobody knows your relationship better than you do.
