Are Kitchen Gadgets Better Than a Knife?

I actually have the Potato Peeler Gadget, and while it isn't faster than your cutting, it's way less effort and the long strands are way easier to clean up afterwards.

I'm surprised you didn't cut both bananas at the same time with a bigger knife, that would've slashed the knife time in half.

A knife is a single tool.

These gadgets are certainly useful for people with dexterity issues

The kitchen gadgets are pretty cool and very efficient, but I still think the knife is better for two reasons. 1: The knife is much more versatile. 2: The knife is probably easier to clean. Still, kitchen gadgets are very cool and very useful. 🙂

I think people also forget that some of these gadgets are helpful in other ways... like disabilities, injuries, and children.

Each gadget is designed specifically for a particular fruit or vegetable but a knife doesn't discriminate it's a one for all.

Yea, its fair enough that some of the gadgets could do specific thing faster. But as u read the comments section, knife are way flexible. Especially, you could resharpening it when it's dull. So it will be easier and faster to eliminate the target. With bigger knife and some training, its possible to make body disposal easier. I love when knife could be used to carve ur signature to the body, it looks beautiful.

I have had to use a knife to open a can before.

Those gadgets are faster, but too specific. You would spend more time looking for them, than simply cutting with knife

There's a lot to consider here besides time.

Be good if you factored in the cleaning time for each gadget, and the space that they take up in the cupbourds.

That potato peeler is awesome. The manual peeler may have been a bit faster, but the thing is you can just hit the button and do something else. Tiny bit longer on the peeling, but so much faster overall while you're getting 2 things done at once. And the peel left on the ends could just be cut off before you stick it on the spikes

The potato peeler and fry cutter made a lot more sense than the others. Though honestly some of that really could just be preference. I think the idea of being able to choose how to slice your tomatoes or hotdogs is a wonderful thing.

I think the deciding factor for me I'd storage. If I don't have the space nor a regular use for them, I cannot justify having them in my kitchen.

Even if the automatic potato peeler is slower, I personally think it makes up for the opportunity cost benefit of using that time to prepare a different ingredient for your dish at the same time it's peeling your potatoes

You also have to factor in price and how often you actually use each gadget, as well as storage.
