Aliyah won me over big time with this interview. She's humble and understands the big picture with her career. She's not a hater, sore loser, none what-so-ever. She's a real compliment to the women's game
She is an amazing human being! Aliyah is a great role model for her peers and for all kids watching. What a blessing it has been to watch her mature into the young lady she is today. Whether she stays or goes, I will be rooting for her.
Lol. She starts the interview by accusing the media of being racist (she sounded like a baby). She then goes on to make excuse, after excuse. Instead, how about just admitting you lost to a much better team?!? She's an embarrassment and she needs to accept that her team lost because they weren't good enough.
Aliyah Boston is a great player and person. In top-level athletics, a top team meets teams that are great and that play to that level, so a loss is going to happen sometimes. Otherwise, it is not top-level athletics. Great career, Aliyah!
Aliyah is an incredible talent whose success and humanity is punctuated with grace and humility. Credit her and these amazing athletes of Women's Basketball for the extraordinary wave of interest and appreciation for the sport. ✌️❤️
Boy, what a class act. Love seeing such great examples for young athletes like Aliyah Boston. Every player sounds good when they win, but to be unchanged after a loss - especially when you're on a great team that was supposed to go all the way - shows a grace that doesn't come around very often. Great team, great players, and great coach.
What a great young lady. A wonderful player with grace….win or lose. A great role model. What a wonderful personality. She has a great future a head of her!
One of the most impressive, athletic humble person I have ever witnessed in the game basketball she will be a household name. God bless you Aaliyah Boston One of the greatest of all time. God’s blessings in all your endeavors for.4
9 L’s in 4 years = BEYOND IMPRESSIVE‼️ at the end of the day you gotta take the L’s with the W’s that’s all it comes down too BUT YOU ARE A STAR 🌟 ALIYAH BOSTON‼️ very classy and a true leader 💪🏽
Classy. No griping. No excuses. No racial talk. No slang. If you see Caitlyn Clark's talk with the press after their loss it sounded very similar to what Aliyah is saying. Both of them have more class and are more humble than Angel Reece. Aliyah could teach her coach a thing or two about having some class. Wishing Aliyah good luck and great success in her future endeavors.
Great interview, I honestly feel like Iowa-S. Carolina game was the championship game imo. How the other 2 teams got the luck of the draw that they did I don't know, but they did and are fortunate. I don't think LSU or Va Tech beats Iowa or S. Carolina!
It'll be interesting to see....There was a stat that the team to beat Uconn in the national semi then was like 0-whatever in the national title game, because beating Uconn took so much out of them...I wonder if this is kinda like that, given how dominant SC has been really over the last two seasons...So, Iowa can definitely win, and will be favored vs. LSU, but I wouldn't say it's a gimme that they win
It wouldn't feel right. She, Cook, and Beal accomplished all they could despite this tough ending. They are ready to move on, let the underclassmen shine, its their time.
Iowa is underrated in physical play. They look small (mostly because they are) but they play in a physical conference n their non conference games were against several physical teams. I give Iowa credit for staying up right in the "bar fight" n ultimately winning it.
I disagree with your comment. These negative comments about South Carolina is ridiculous because they are the best. They wanted Iowa to go and show up SC, but the fouls on Boston was planned. SC hurt themselves with missing shots. Had they made shots, they would have won. Clark and Crew should have had four fouls in this game, but calls were not called. She is not great. You are great when you do not have to take that many shots and be a great role model, like Boston. She is an Academic and Athletic All-American. It is a shame that the media, refs, and everyone else works so hard to show up SC. God sees and he keeps on blessing these young ladies. They are great. The only team that has been to the final four three straight times as a group like them. It would have been four, but COVID stop play, They were also UNDEFEATED. Iowa and other programs will not have this much greatness. Go Gamecocks and coach Staley.❤😮
In Old School lingo? Of My Generation of the Late 70's Crowd. That was So COOL 😎😎 too Listen & Hear that Young Ladies, Post Game interview. She's a Winner & Her Team is a Winner No Doubt about that. Thank You for Sharing it with Me.
That's silly of you. She complimented Caitlyn Clark's performance. But regardless, MJ, Shaq, and Kobe never spent post-interviews talking about what a great game the Pistons, Rockets, or Celtics played.
I appreciate the coded language most definitely understand. I noticed the weak calls. Love to hate you and profit off the sweat. No other team can sell out a girl stadium repeatedly. Refs made a difference
Remember Clark also had 2 fouls early and their center was in foul trouble the whole game. Wow! I can’t believe this. The fans get to enjoy a championship and 42 game winning streak, but lose one game and act like it was some kind of conspiracy. Racism probably played a part in the loss too? 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
@eburgrod8772 Our number one player is a center. Who was called for a foul one while being fouled. For all our points to come inside the paint. Yet we had 20 fouls called against us Iowa 18. Iowa defense was allowed to clog the paint for 30 seconds all five players inside the box. No 3 second rules. We will see in the WNBA how good she really is where they have real rules.
I'm not sure best TEAM won, but more like the best player won with some help. SC had multiple players in double digits Iowa only had two. Problem is Clark outscored two or three players for SC. SC was the better team but Czinano along with supporting cast members made the difference.
I live in IC n go to their games so I know they have talent. But tonight wasn't a typical Iowa team game. Marshall was scoreless, Warnock wasn't in double digits so again Iowa wasn't really best team but they did play better then SC
The fouls called in this game were fairly even for bot teams so I don't like the underlying tone by Staley and her team. All they can say about Caitlin Clark is that sh'e a scorer? Her assists, rebounds, and defense played a big part in why Iowa won, not just her 41 points.
Agreed , J. , not to mention, one of the reasons S.C. , was playing against Iowa , was because of the horrendous officiating in the Maryland game ! ... Did anyone watch that game , I did ! ... I admire Boston, but very hypocritical of her , to have amnesia, in less than a week ...
You have to understand that Dawn Staley is usually able to intimidate the officials, and South Carolina ends up getting the bulk of close calls, and definitely all of them going down the stretch in close games. We actually got to see them have to play a game where the officiating crew kept it "down the middle," and they didn't like it. We see stuff like this all the time in sport. The Belichick/Brady Patriots (remember the "tuck rule" game?), Wayne Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers (referees would allow Dave Semenko and Gretzky's other bodyguard beat up on players who dared check The Great One with impunity), the Pittsburgh Steelers back in the 70's (even as I Steelers fan, I can recognize it), LeBron's Lakers, Bird's Celtics, Jordan's Bulls and even John Wooden's teams from UCLA's dynasty of the 60's and 70's.
I watched the press conference with Aliyah, Raven , and Coach Staley and she literally talked about her assists especially to Monika Czinano, and also mentioned rebounds. She said something to the effect of “Caitlin Clark showed us the full gamut of who she is as a player.” So this interview was not all they said. As far as the fouls go , I think they’re specifically talking about Boston and her fouls and the way she’s guarded , tonight and in general in the college game. Obviously teams double and triple team her . Several times last night players were basically holding her trying to get good position or keep her from getting position. Since there’s no 3 second defensive violation like there is the wnba , it’s hard to officiate that kind of play which is the point coach Staley is making. It’s also why she said she would encourage Boston to go pro rather than stay her 5th year , so she can fully play her game and showcase her skill set. I’m no doubt a SC fan , but honestly I do think a couple of her fouls last night were her trying to break free from being physically wrapped around , and the officials caught it at the “wrong” time. It was one of the most incredible games I’ve ever seen. SC couldn’t get points from a couple of players that usually score and that was never going to work against this Iowa team that played so great and executed their game plan from start to finish. Congrats to SC on an increíble streak. they’ll obviously be back . Congrats to Iowa on the win
Translation - I’m not making “excuses,”I’m just making “excuses!” The media labels the game as a bar fight on our part, (because we’re a predominantly black team) and we get fouls called on us for playing a physical game! We get into foul trouble and we lose! She’s trying to say it’s the refs fault!
I'm tired this bullsh#t. SC has made several claims they were picked on by the refs. Iowa had 14 team fouls while SC had 13.... SC DIDNT LOSE THIS GAME BECAUSE OF THE REFS!!!!!
I believe if you would stop and look at the stats, Iowa won the game from the line. I believe they were perfect from the foul line tonight. SC missed quit a few foul shots.
As a lifelong Hawkeye fan, Iowa just simply out played SC , out coached them and obviously out scored them. They were rattled by the Hawks from the start and took them out of their game until the end.
@Richard Matthews I agree with you , but as you know, on any given day, in any game, things happen. I just see Ia. take them out of their normal rhythm and won the game. I still think SC and what they accomplished , were still the best team over all this year.
Got interrupted in my last comment. Wanted to give credit to her coach and the real coaches behind the scenes. Her parents! WOW. Great job. Hope she earnes a kazilion dollars in the pros. She's worth every penny.
A bar fight? Yeah you brought a knife to a gun fight. You thought your size and inside presence would win the game. And you had them outclassed on the offensive boards like I've never seen. BUT you forgot to play defense. You underestimated your opponent. Gave up too many easy layups, didn't defend the screen/roll well, and Staley didn't react and make any adjustments at all.
Completely agree, I think we saw Staley isn't the great coach as perceived to be but she has great players to cover that up. Her players were exposed tonight n her inability to react to those issues is now a blue print on how to play SC. Be interested to see how teams play SC next season after watching this game.
@Jd Neelyso because her team lost that means she’s not a great coach. I’ve seen Coach K, Pop and Saban have the same fate. Are they not good coaches either. Oh and for the record Dawn will be back to the FF and will win. Lisa will not.
@Jd Neely so Dawn was successful at Temple as the head coach before arriving in South Carolina. She's been successful since arriving in South Carolina, but you believe she's not a good coach. Make it make sense. Lol
You got beat by a better team. Your conference is as tough as the big ten. Indiana would give you a run for your money.Move on and except thecfact that you got beat.
Not fan of South Carolina by no means but do not try to justify your team being described as the aggressor!!! That is a compliment! The first thing I teach my kids is to play physical & aggressive! That doesn't mean dirty
Hey Greetings It's All Good 42' Game WINNING STREAK 43/1 22/23 Season That Itself Is CHAMPIONSHIP ENERGY" Keep ur' HEAD UP HIGH Moving 4Ward Enjoy Peace 🏆 🏀 🇻🇮
Yeah Glad they Lost and LSU won she don't respect her opponents and she don't give the opposing players there props till after they done busted her butt like before the IOWA game they had so much to say . I heard her say and one of the interviews say It would be nice to play in National Title against LSU 2 SEC programs nice for the sport they ask her bout Caitlyn she say she just another player than she go out there and bust yall up for 41 and than you was on locker room crying good for
@amcra1 the coach always talks about it when they won vs uconn or lost last night. opinions are opinions every one has one. they play in to those voices or coach Staley is ease dropping on convos. its over the top by her. who cares what other siders think. people hated on Uconn for decades same could be said it various other sports with power house teams. Dawn Staley tries to make it about race at times and its ridiculous. Pat Summit and Geno never cried like this
They haven’t lost in over a year. I’ve watch all the interviews and haven’t seen any of them shame iowa. Staley said they have to take the good with the bad and they lost one. She wasn’t to proud to admit iowa played better this game. I’m tired of seeing comments like this saying they were rude or “aggressive” after the game like grow up
@Beats123 i never said they shamed Iowa. obviously you have trouble understanding english. staley mentioned it her post game and so did the players. they talked about how media or coaches portrayed them as aggressive or bullies or thuggish. THATS what coach staley and her were referring too.
The stupid media...why dont they leave these kids alone.....she answered ya dumb questions over & over...& did a great job...considering it was a great lost to her & the team...
Danny...yeah what's to...like...they think they,re so important....I.e." what was going thru ya...mind...??? b.s....if any tell ya what was going thru her mind..." bet outta my face..."
