Someone asked on Bill's website if the "meef" bit was scripted or an actual accident, and his response: "that was in the writing. i hadn't thought of a line there yet, and i was searching for something with 'ee' in it, so on a run through (while writing), i spontaneously tried 'meef' knowing that wouldn't be it, immediately stopped and questioned 'meef?' and then about half a second later about the same time i pressed stop on that run, i realized the answer is in fact to do it just like that. so it was a genuinely improvised moment in the writing session that was faithfully re-enacted in the studio recording"

Bill has a real talent for making his lyrics walk on the line between meaning something and not meaning anything, and it's awesome.

I feel like this song is about aging and the “countdown” of life. When he sings about “987”, it’s is the beginning stages of life and trying to figure out who you are. “321” is the end of life. You have regrets, and are trying to understand how and when you ended up getting old after all. “Wondering what number we’re counting too” “9 8 Nothing where will you go? How will you leave? How will you know?” Beautiful, funky song about the uncertainties of life.

I count numbers when I'm anxious and try to figure out how to talk to others, so this song is basically the embodiment of that to me. It's perfect

Lets you focus on the words rather than what's bombarding your ears... tonally speaking.

back in highschool my physics teacher would play the w.e.e.k.e.n.d. song and it always filled the classroom with the most "groovy" feeling. Your songs aren't the same style but I get that same "groovy" feeling listening to them. Makes it feel like somethings going to be alright

I swear, Bill's songs and music videos work exactly like my brain does. I start with a concise point in my head and it spirals into something unintelligible, yet the point is still there. The most random images pop into my head and I somehow connect everything back to my original point.
