31 Essential Minecraft Build Hacks

The minecraft way: Step 1: Build a 'temporary' box house or cave home Step 2: After playing for awhile and gathering materials, prepare to build your new house Step 3: Look up some builds people have done for their houses for inspiration Step 4: Realize that to accomplish any of those, you'll need to get 10x the resources you already have and spend like 10 hours of dedicated building time Step 5: Stop playing for 8 months Step 6: Start playing again, but feel completely lost and confused as to wtf you were doing Step 7: Decide to start a new world so you can just start from the start instead of trying to remember everything from your current world Step 8: Return to step 1

Also for the wall facade tip, most logs color match the next darkest plank, oak log=spruce plank, spruce log=dark oak plank, but dark oak log also matches itself

Step at beginning of the video: "Just extend the room with basic shapes." Step at end of the video: "Now build an entire warehouse."

Here’s an extra tip: Place Netherrack in different spots in the ground of the nether portal to make it look like it’s spreading into the world.

A building tip for nether portals: You could use some nether blocks while your making your portal look good in overworld. It looks like nether is taking over the world just like mojang did with the ruined nether portals.

Just wanna real quick say that if you plan on being really good at building, this is NOT the only tutorial you need, not even remotely. Being an expert at building requires near perfect understanding of the basics, ie what they are and how to execute them. You need to understand most if not all of the simple concepts there are, have a huge amount of tricks and ideas saved up for detailing and really anything for that matter, often times even understand things like color theory. There is way too much to becoming a good builder to fit into a single video, especially an 8 minute one. But as far as guidelines for people who just want a nice house this video is great, pretty much everything is spot on and will make things look good almost every time you build it. Also if you want to get really into building, I would recommend watching all of Grians tutorials, and once you've gotten to a decently advanced level, watching tutorials from another, far smaller youtuber who goes by Horace - Minecraft. he is an amazing content creator and is incredibly talented in his craft, in my opinion, even better than grian is, though they do build in vastly different ways so there isn't much comparison that works there.

3:05 Tip for the trees: Use Spruce Planks with Oak Logs, because they have the same color. Also works with Dark Oak Planks on Spruce Logs.

For the farm you could also mix in different crops or place a few flowers in the field tall flowers look the best

Tip: if you want to build a tree that’s half under water use dark oak it’s makes it look like it’s wet

what I like to do with indoor ways (paths that are supposed to be near the sleeping room and somewhere where I'd usually walk in socks) is to make a 5 blocks wide path, as I always wood, the middle three blocks are carpet, and the blocks on the edges are whatever floor block I'm using. I really like it when things look regular, sort of.

if you are making an oak tree, you can use spruce fences and slabs. they blend in better.

The thing is, most of these tips are already well-known, using them wisely, while neither over-detailing nor under-detailing- that's the biggest struggle. Still though, I was very happy when I built my starter house and my library, the builds which were done solely by myself without any tutorials, except for some mild inspirations. They may be not as good as Grian or GoodTimesWithScar or any other professional builder would make, but it's my own creation, and it's an honest work.

Something else I usually tend to throw in with the nether portal idea is adding some glass panes to the side of another portal that you're not going to be entering or exiting from and then on the opposite side of the glass build a copy of what's on the other side of the portal so just before you walk through it's like you can see what's on the other side

An idea for the nether area is to make a gradient to make the nether portal seem more intimidating. Maybe even have the pillars look charred a bit and make the back of the portal purple.

Another tip when doing paths use gravel and course dirt aswell as paths and regular dirt. Really gives it texture

I suggest using dark oak stairs and slabs for step 2 it fits more with the spruce logs

A tip that came in mind to me is making a dragon mouth with fangs for the nether portal and the warden's guts for the end, i feel like endstone and sculk stuff ar like man and woman its just so cool to me! btw great helping hand skip!

For the nether portal room I prefer to make it more nether-themed, as if a bit of the nether is getting into the overworld. Good video btw

This is the BEST video idea for a building tutorial ever because you see how much it changes throughout the building process Ty Also one recommendation i have for the tree with slabs is use dark oak or another type to match the bark color, the oak slabs seem out of place

One big one is to always put in gradients, it puts in depth no matter what. Even for trees you put in leave gradients and the such like walls, floors, roofs, glass, and especially any organinx builds like boulders and trees.

For building my house, I only had jungle wood (I was lazy), so I used a ton of these hacks: At first I made the house like and L shape. Then I added supports I also added stairs, and bushes using oak leaves and this house going to be the best one so far

Btw tip from me , you can make walls and towers around you base and always build foundations to your house , the best is just building it 1 block height (use for it cobblestone bricks and other hard material to make it more realistic) and there build your floor

Hey, I know you love to teach us to do more complicated things with Minecraft but I need help with something really simple. See, my fiance has a frog persona so I thought I'd be cute and use my Xbox version to show him the new swamp biome. Well, it evolved into "Let me give you a future house idea" where I challenged myself to use resources only available in the swamp and he got really hyped at the idea of using vines to climb the root blocks into his base instead of ladders to better fit the area. But I wanted to put in trapdoors so mobs can't get in because there's kind of a Drowned problem near the spot we picked. Here is the simple problem I have. No matter where on top of the trunk I put the trapdoors they don't seem to want to let me get to the top of the trunk even when I close them. And this includes the bottom of the top block of the trunk which I assumed I could just close and end up on top of the trapdoor like I've seen but it just won't work. The important thing is when someone looks at it to see a house that looks like it was carved from the new trees but to make it so I can get in but mobs can't. Any ideas? Again, this is Bedrock edition, BTW.

What I do is build a really big box that's filled with chests and then use natural structures as my actual living quarters (not bases because I consider the entire area from my zombie piglin farm all the way to my witch farm my land), with me even marking everything with the banner flag I made.

All these build hacks are so cool and aesthetic. The only problem is that not everyone has shaders. Example: you see a nice picture or video (with shaders) you'll get inspired, but when you build it, it doesn't look as nice.

Glow berries are a creative way to use as a light source. Grab some glow berries, put them around the ceiling, wait for them to grow and then bone meal the vines to get the vines to bear berries. You can also use string to stop the growth.

5:23 I got an idea! You could use item frames as holders for your tools. You can make it face any way you want. You can even decorate it if you want!

Either Skip thinks messy irregular paths don't look horrible, or he thinks that house looks terrible. One of them makes him a troll with high standards, the other makes him a tasteless pleb.
